Around SBN: Dana White Announces Koscheck vs. Hendricks for UFC on FOX

[From the FanShots. There is really no excuse not to give Tyrus heavy minutes when he returns. I know the Taj-ers were strong in the beginning of the year, but even independent of him there should be time opened up simply by how old and poor Brad Miller has looked this season. Plus the added benefit of hopefully maybe actually increasing his trade value. -ed.]

Notice the quote from VDN

"He gives us more athleticism in the front court," Del Negro said. "He blocks shots and gets us out on the break. He was our starting power forward all last year pretty much, and the start of this year. Hopefully, we'll get him in shape and get him out there."

I feel like we've heard this a million times before. He has those Tyrus answers pretty much memorized.

Vinny, we know what he brings to the team.

NOW PLAY HIM!

tyrus for nate robinson

a year rental?

No, no, and no

Robinson is not playing very well and he does not bring anything to the team that we don’t already have…I’d on;y take him if they were to take one of our ugly contracts

by DRose01 on Dec 21, 2009 8:27 AM CST up reply actions

Same here-

my hope is that the move back to the bench helps Brad as it’s helped Taj. And Taj has been damn good coming off the bench.

I think we’re going to see some inspired effort from Tyrus. Been injured, seen a less talented player play well in his absence, contract year. Could be good.

First, TT needs to grow out his hair.

Rose isn’t just growing out his hair because he was playing badly. …

I support the Tornado Release ... and Young Bucks.

our whole team

needs to grow their hair like vinny’s.

by djphillie on Dec 21, 2009 9:44 AM CST up reply actions

I hope Vinny gives Tyrus the minutes at the PF position at least to showcase him for a trade

But at the end of the day, we’re all gonna be upset that we had TT, Rose, and Noah, he never got proper development since he dealt with losing coaches, interim coaches, and a front office that decided when they got a stable new coach they decide to let him go to get a big name player. Tyrus has had a raw deal but he’ll be alright, it’s just a shame we Chicago fans didn’t get to see these young guys grow together, cause it would’ve been fun and productive!

Bulls and Warriors

Bulls get
Randolph
Maggette
Claxton

Warriors get
Deng
Salmons

12/31: Fire Vinny Del Negro.

by NBA Observer on Dec 21, 2009 8:47 AM CST up reply actions

It's what I want

Don’t want Deng, but will take Maggette to bring in Randolph to be our SF of the future. I like where his game can take us. He handles the ball well, rebounds better than Deng, finishes better than Deng, gets to the line more than Deng, and he’s never going to get his chance to shine with the Warriors.

I want to get him in Chicago to see if he’s attractive enough to entice the Pacers to part with Granger.

12/31: Fire Vinny Del Negro.

by NBA Observer on Dec 21, 2009 9:58 AM CST up reply actions

I feel like Deng is having his best season yet.

maybe thats just his last three games, but the numbers compare with 0607. Slightly down in scoring with an uptick in rebounding. And beyond the numbers, I love how he has diversified his scoring. Its not just popping the midrange jumper, although that is still there, its driving, shooting the 3, posting and putbacks. All of which were scoring methods that folks were saying he needed to do more of after the 0607 season.

by JockstrapNoah on Dec 21, 2009 2:23 PM CST up reply actions

He is playing better

and he’s not injured yet. He displays his weak ball handling and his tenacity for dribble penetrating into his opponents grill. I don’t think his stock rises much more than it is right now.

12/31: Fire Vinny Del Negro.

by NBA Observer on Dec 21, 2009 2:28 PM CST up reply actions

So do you think Deng

has maxed out his potential ? He’s still young. I can see him averaging 18 and 8 for the rest of his career for sure (barring injury), but the fact that he’s developed different ways of scoring leads me to think that his game is still evolving. I think his stock won’t go much lower than it is right now either. The defense will always be there and that will be what teams focus on when pursuing Deng (not that I think the Bulls will give up Deng).

by JockstrapNoah on Dec 21, 2009 2:39 PM CST up reply actions

Randolph is a PF, he is a strong rebounder so putting him on the perimeter takes away from his rebounding ability, also he can’t shoot well enough to be a fulltime SF. Randolph is still raw as hell and needs a ton of development. He currently plays like a recently decapitated chicken

by C Smoove on Dec 21, 2009 3:40 PM CST up reply actions

they're both black holes...

but i guess i just feel like Maggette is the better of the two, though he certainly plays less. his contract is bad, but it’s still less than Deng’s, and we wouldn’t have to worry about the inevitability of Salmons exercising his option and returning next year. plus getting Randolph would be nice, since i think we all know Tyrus won’t be around next year. it’s not great, but it’s something.

by M 80 on Dec 21, 2009 10:55 AM CST up reply actions

Even at this stage

Maggette is a damn good player

by Trey23 on Dec 21, 2009 6:13 PM CST up reply actions

He sucks. He can only drive headfirst into the lane. He only score that way, he is trash.

by C Smoove on Dec 22, 2009 3:54 PM CST up reply actions

Why would Golden State, of all teams,

two guys who are among the least athletic at their positions?

Metal sharpens metal.

And this guy right here understands and knows what leadership is all about: The coach, the hall of famer......... Dick Butka! George Ryan

The Bulls shrink like a dick in cold water.

Deng's developing the 3!!

I support the Tornado Release ... and Young Bucks.

by Prevenge on Dec 21, 2009 2:53 PM CST up reply actions

Im looking forward to seeing

Tyrus with an improved Noah and Deng. Ironically, if the team starts playing better with Tyrus, the Bulls would have a dilemma wouldn’t they? They want to trade Tyrus but would have a hard time explaining things if the team got better with him. Since they obviously got worst without him and didn’t get better with the return of Hinrich.

But leave it to VDN, Tyus will be better and get less minutes while Brad Miller and Taj will see there minutes grow. SMH

he'll have to work his way back from injury

and then, ya know, Taj really gave us a lift

(actually, Taj HAS played well since going to the bench. But still)

Video Clips of Tyrus

Did anyone else find it funny that all the video clips shown last night (Instant Reply I think) shows Tyrus driving on a 1 on 1 drill vs Hunter?

Maybe this is why the Bulls can’t develop young bigs. They have them practicing getting their shots off on old player/ coach small guards.

it's a drill where you play everyone one on one.

If you score you play the next guy in line. I forgot what it’s called.

by SoulEater7 on Dec 21, 2009 11:38 AM CST up reply actions

yeah i don't know what that's called

but it’s like a basketball version of “king of the ring” that we do in sparring. first person to score a point stays in.

Oh

I’m suprised that they weren’t playing knock out all practice with Vinny yelling words of encouragement and “be aggressive”

Well there is a bit in KC's article today

about Tyrus participating in a “one on one” scrimmage with Aaron Gray, Pargo, and James Johnson.

I think you need Beloit approved goggles to see how a one on one scrimmage contains four players.

If TT plays well and remembers his assignments-- He'll play

If not get ready for the continued rotation of Taj, Noah, Brad at the 4-5.
