Around SBN: Bracketology 2012: Duke Finally Steps Up To The No. 1 Line

I couldnt get the embbed code because the user (espn) disabled it so ill have to give u guys the link.

He intrigued me before the college season even started, and ill be honest, it was the name more than anything (Xavier...sounds cool) but Ive been liking his game, and I think he can be a brandon roy type player. We trade hinrich and salmons, we struggle through this year, we nab Henry, we get bosh...im liking this team then...

I don't think he's that Roy-like

But I like him a lot as well.

He looks like a scorer

which is exactly what this Bulls team needs. Plus, he seems like a nice guy.

nice guy

plus hes probably gonna be in the final four…he definetly should be on the bulls radar now, not to mention that with the way were playing, were gonna be high enough to pick him up. Most mock drafts at the moment have him going as a later lottery pick, i say by the time the tournament is halfway done hell be a top 5 pick..

also

hes aggressive when attacking the rim, loves to run, and most scouts rave about his excellent shooting ability, plus hes a lefty shooter (which often seem harder to guard)

Evan Turner

By the time Henry is any good, unless he is a true superstar, Bosh will be 29… I’d rather bring in someone who can contribute right away. Turner will be closer to Roy, in my opinion. I lacks showing the elite athleticism on the court, but so did Roy in college (and my pick to be the best from this past draft—James Harden)… but then he tested out well, and has shown that he can use it in the NBA.

Turner’s only weakness is shooting. I know that’s huge, but A) I think so many other parts of his game are so refined and would look so excellent next to Rose and B) he has the ability to make shots. I still believe in Scotter’s idea that you want a guy who can’t shoot but has the potential so that he learns how to get to the line and add the shot later (which is totally weird that that isn’t what Rose is doing…)

In the past 10 years, just four team owners have not paid a luxury tax and are not on pace to pay one this year: Donald Sterling, Jerry Reinsdorf, Chris Cohen (Golden State), Bob Johnson (Charlotte).

Two owners’ teams averaged an operating income of over +$10 million per year while their teams have lost over 60% of their games: Donald Sterling and Jerry Reinsdorf.

I forgot about that scotter idea

but just thinking about it right now, if we get bosh, wouldnt we want a shooter at the sg position right away? Also in terms of roses development, if we have another guy who can attack the rim, maybe rose (passive as he is) might just take another step back and let the new guy do all the driving and attacking. Getting dwayne wade is fine cuz he can now shoot and drive, and being older and more experienced than rose, he can teach, but bringing in a guy like evan turner (who all mock drafts at least HAD going before henry, top 5 pick, before the injury) i dont know…i guess ultimately i rather have a guy who has enough athleticism to run on the fast break, is a good defender right off the bat, and can shoot also right off the bat..especially if the idea is to land bosh.

I often wonder if rose doesnt take so many jumpshots cuz no one on this team is capable of consistently making them to begin with, so he feels he has to open things up for him when driving in..,

ah but i digress, i wanted spencer hawes and thought beasley wouldnt be too bad here…although this is the first time ive actually really paid attention to college basketball instead of just reading mockdrafts and watching youtube highlights…

I say we finish in the bottom Ten

Unless we get into the top 3 of the lottery then I would rather package the pick and some players to trade. If we can’t I like Turner over Henry.

There are 3 or 4 potential draft picks that I'm coveting right now watching college ball...

If the plan is to suck, can we at least suck bad enough to land a high draft pick?

by smash! on Dec 19, 2009 12:29 PM CST reply actions

eh the thing i sort of like about the lottery

is that the worst team isnt guaranteed the number 1 pick, i mean look at the knicks, we shouldve had the 9th pick last year, but instead we got the 1st, while the knicks, who shouldve had the first, ended up 9th. Plus this draft is pretty strong, so if we dont make the playoffs, we still have a shot at a good player draft wise.

What are the draft picks you are liking this year…?

I cant say im a big fan of any of the big men in college right now, favors seems like the one whos gonna go the highest so i dont think we have a great chance of landing him. I havent seen Evan Turner play but ive read nothing but good things about him, I also dont know how bad his back injury is…I like Xavier and was able to catch two kansas games on espn, I also saw john wall play, but no way were getting him (dude is sick though) I like Cole Alrdrich but i think a huge knock on him is the fact that he doesnt really assert himself, so while he has the skills to be a great player, he is fine just being a good player…the fact that i cant think of anything memorable that he did in the two games i watched sort of helps reafirm that.
IM intrigued by the european prospect, but mainly cuz i drafted him in 2k, for late rounders i like michael washington, who reminds me of jordan hill.

I hope the bulls can make some kind of trade to get a late first rounder to add to their most likely lottery pick…

Aldrich's not having as good a year this year as last

But I think part of that is having so many perimeter players wanting to get their shots up. Kansas is so loaded this year, and they sometimes forget to work on getting the ball inside to him. They’ve been doing a bit better at it lately.

Just waiting on some offense....

the bulls will not be in the lottery this year

barring trade(s). or injury to deng, rose or noah.

after last night, hollinger’s odds are up to 5.5% playoffs, and down to 9.7% lottery winners!

the name of the team is The DIAMONDBACKS

hmmm... that's not ringing hopeful

I like Henry as well

I really think the Bulls should aim for a big as the free agent pickup and go with either Evan Turner or Henry to pair with Rose. I think the Turner-Rose backcourt has a lot of potential because he’s (probably) more ready to play right away. Rose needs a good young running mate in the backcourt and both guys would fit nicely. If we get a FA guard, I also like Patrick Patterson of Kentucky and Cole Aldrich of Kansas.
