Bulls/Wizards trade idea

Right down to business

Bulls Trade: Salmons + Tyrus

Wizards Trade: Miller + McGee

Bulls do it: Guarantees free cap space for next year, We get three point shooting, and we get a Big man who if no one else, I like. McGee is a project big man like tyrus, he is very athletic and mobile for a 7 footer although requires alot more strength. He has a huge wingspan, which coupled with his athleticism make him a good rebounder and shot blocker. He can actually dunk the ball....Hes super cheap although is a two year contract. We get Mike Miller who is a good shooter, but terrible defender.

Wizards do it: They have all the offense in the world on their team with Arenas and Butler, so john salmons brings a bit more defense, and size to thier backcourt. Salmons is at his best when he attacks the basket and takes 15 foot shots, but on the bulls he is given more a of a peremeter role since we need three point shooting and deng and rose get the midrange to close areas. On the wizards though, butler and arenas basically have the peremeter covered so Salmons will have more shots in his shot range. The wizards also need some depth at the pf positon, especially some size..and they have a real coach who might help tyrus develop. If it doesnt work out they can always let tyrus walk at seasons end.

Its a quick stop gap for this season, and adresses a few needs, although not a blockbuster deal of any sorts. I dont think it helps either team a whole lot, but i think it makes both team better than they currently are...

(Also i didnt think this was such a revolutionary idea that it deserved a fanpost, so i had initially planned for it to be a fan shot as sort of a blurb of an idea, however matt i guess felt that it wasnt in the right spot so i moved it into a fanpost)

I’m not familiar enough with McGee to comment too much.

However, I’m not entirely sold on trading Salmons as half of our trade, his value is likely just too low right now.

If we didn’t plan on his option being picked up, we should trade him when he’s playing better or should’ve traded him this summer.

In the right system, Salmons looks like a very good player. The transition to 2 guard has really messed up his value in my eyes. He’s too slow to play well offensively in that position and he’s being forced to take worse shots than he was last year. The occasional natural 3 point attempt is a great spot in Salmons game and the bigger players that guard him when he plays the 3 actually helps him get better looks from deep because he is actually a threat to drive on those players.

So, I kind of feel like any realistic trade that could happen right now with Salmons involved doesn’t give us great value. If we can get an expiring for him and we’re making a run at somebody big next year, I’m all for it, but I think he’s truly worth more than we can likely get for him now.

Miller is to good, Wizards wouldn't even consider it!

"I tried being reasonable, I didn't like it."
"Go ahead, make my day"
"We boil at different degrees"
"A good man always knows his limitations"
"You've got to ask yourself one question: 'Do I feel lucky?' Well, do ya punk?"

I like McGee as well

i don’t want to have TT added in the mix but that is because I have not fully realized that we are actually just going to let him walk at the end of the season if we don’t trade him.

I'm focused on this summer

The more I watch NBA basketball the more I realize small changes can make a big difference. Houston Rockets amaze me. Somehow they fit together and the team is far better than the pieces. My perception of the Bulls is that everyone would play better if we had a take charge guy. This is what I’m hoping we can score this summer. Salmons’ game deteriorates under the pressure of being the “man”. I believe to some extent this is true for all the Bulls. No other team can benefit like the Bulls by getting a true go-to guy.

that sounds like a 'big' change

as in, revamping the entire organizational structure and philosophy.

The Rockets have used statistical analysis, including that which they developed themselves...

…to evaluate players. I doubt the Bulls do.

In the past 10 years, just four team owners have not paid a luxury tax and are not on pace to pay one this year: Donald Sterling, Jerry Reinsdorf, Chris Cohen (Golden State), Bob Johnson (Charlotte).

Two owners’ teams averaged an operating income of over +$10 million per year while their teams have lost over 60% of their games: Donald Sterling and Jerry Reinsdorf.

I would love this trade instead

Bulls trade to Wizards

Deng-Johnson-Jerome James

For Antwan Jamison and Mike Miller

For the Wiz, clearly a team that needs a change of pace, they could float Butler in at the 2 guard spot and add a bit more D to their team and get gobs younger. THis might be their first trade—team’s in more desp need of a trade seeing as Arenas’s albatross contract looks like it’s gonna kill them, despite the talent he has and those around him…..They get some of the savings with James off the books, but can play more of their young bigs for the future with Jamison out of there.

For the Bulls obviously if Miller can get healthy, he’s a nice piece for us….and Antawn Jamison is a total leader, a very underrated player. Heck I’d be fine to give up a top 12 protected pick to make this go down.

Bulls lineup:
Rose-when healthy Miller-Salmons-Jamison-Noah with Tyrus as our main 6th man and HInrich

Sadly....through thick and thin....

Antwan is great

but this guy is old and still has money left on his deal, so no Jamison.

how

about grabbing arenas and oberto and give the wiz hinrich salmons and tyrus plus picks. arenas takes over the 2 and since it puts the bulls out of the 2010 sweepstakes, the bulls can use millers and Jerome johnsons expirings to balance the roster this season or pick up some role players in 2010.

How about we stay as far away as possible from a guy who missed two years with knee troubles

relies on athleticism, and seems to have little confidence. And has a max contract.

.... yes

don't let the bed bugs bite

Arenas is playing horrible. He will never fully bounce back. His knees are shot and his confidence is pretty screwed too.
