Rose was pharmaceutically enhanced the other night
From the Sun Times via True Hoop:
John Jackson of the Chicago Sun-Times: "When Derrick Rose left the court and headed to the Bulls' locker room midway through the first quarter of Tuesday night's 96-87 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers, he was holding his right side and had the pained look of someone who wouldn't return. But when Rose came back early in the second quarter, he appeared perfectly fine and didn't seem to be hampered by the strained muscle in his right side. After practice Wednesday at the Berto Center, Rose revealed that he received two injections for the pain during his visit to the locker room. 'I didn't want to get them,' said Rose, who has been known to be fearful of needles. 'They had to put an ice pack on my back and freeze and numb my skin. And I still felt it. They lied and told me I was only going to get one, but I felt two pinches.' Rose said assistant Randy Brown convinced him to get the injections. 'He told me one of his sob vet stories about how he had to get at least 100 shots like that during his NBA career,' Rose said. 'So I was like, 'I can get one.' 'In his face, he was looking sincere. I think he was telling the truth. But I gotta go back and ask who the trainers were back then.' "

Holy crap.
Dude, you’re 21.
In the past 10 years, just four team owners have not paid a luxury tax and are not on pace to pay one this year: Donald Sterling, Jerry Reinsdorf, Chris Cohen (Golden State), Bob Johnson (Charlotte).
Two owners’ teams averaged an operating income of over +$10 million per year while their teams have lost over 60% of their games: Donald Sterling and Jerry Reinsdorf.
hahaha, no shit.

I thought he explained why he was ok with tattoos though. Its not too weird to me everyone kind of has something like this. (though being afraid of needles is seen as some 7-8 year old type of fear)
yeah, that was my point.

I was about to jump in about my own personal fear of needles
but yeah, the tattoos…

Tatoo needles don't go inside you. I have the same fear, I must admit...although probably not to that degree.

I think theres like 2 phobias that kind of deal with something along these lines. I’m not sure how he deals with “operations” though and I’m guessing he doesn’t fear pointy objects in general.
he has no problem laying in a bed with a sharp knife
I’m guessing he doesn’t fear pointy objects in general.
so im guessing ure right…

they should threaten
every time he doesnt attack the rim full force, every time his defender beats him off the dribble, every time he passes to pargo…hes gotting a shot…tis no greater motivation than fear

I dont know if anyone (ever) watched dragon ball z
but rose is starting to remind me alot of the main character Goku, the dude could basically kik the ass of any living (or dead) thing, but he was never really smart, naturally gifted, and extremely strong, super naive, and deathly afraid of needles….

Rose has the mind of a little kid
His favorite hobbies include eating candy and playing video games. Of course, I guess that beats shooting guns off in strip clubs or fathering 10 kids with 9 different women.
yeah
i mean how odd is it that a 21 year old likes video games and candy? I bet he is the only one…

If you can't see the immaturity in his personality...
Yeah, it’s pretty common, but it’s also common among kids who are in college or not doing anything. Now, I’m not going to fault Rose for that; it’s on him what he wants to do. However, he does need to grow up if he’s ever going to be a leader and a take-over type of player. Of course, that’s fostered by the Bulls culture: treat him with baby gloves, put other people as captains, let the veterans show you what’s up. Let him play, but anything else of significance? P’shaw!

So when an individual likes video games and candy
they’re at suspect for being unable to lead? I’d totally agree if he was playing video games when he was supposed to be a practice, but seriously?

So 21 year olds eventually have to grow up...
You should write a book on child psychology.
First chapter – People Mature as They Get Older.
Chapter Two – People take on more responsibility as they get older.
I don’t know if Rose has to mature because I don’t know him. I follow the Bulls closely, but I have a very vague idea of his personality. I do know that at 21 years old, I wasn’t working half as hard as D. Rose was and I was doing much more immature things than playing video games and eating candy. The dude is getting advice from Kobe, Hunter, Hinrich and others. He seems to seek out and listen to veteran advice. That will help his game mature much more than giving up video games and candy or any other token moves he could make to appease onlookers.

I was doing much more immature things, too.
I wasn’t making millions of dollars per year shouldering the expectations of a hundred-million dollar franchise, either. One could argue his innocence and naivete is a good thing.

These sorts of phobias exist in almost everyone
at any age. All the chest bumping on this site is weird.
