Around SBN: Knicks Beat Lakers With Familiar Strategy

Excuse me for not having any direct quotes but 3 things I took away from the interview:

-He mentioned how Hunter tells them about being on the Lakers championship run and what it takes to win.--- Keep that mentoring coming LH, your Lakers stories are no doubt with your million dollar contract

-On the losing troubles of late: They have talent they just aren't playing with enough passion. ----I don't think he meant this as a dig on VDN, but if a coach can't get his players to play with passion...

-And here's why Gar PaxDorf loves him and why he's hard to hate despite limited skills: Asked what his first purchase was with his NBA money (they mentioned former SC teammate Nick Young bought huge earrings) Taj told them he took his little brother and kids from the neighborhood shopping for school supplies.

Say what you want..

But that school supply thing gives me a warm fuzzy feeling………..if it’s true.

Dear Lord

is that really why we signed Lindsey Hunter? Good pick up Gar.

by Basketball Smurf on Dec 15, 2009 5:24 PM CST reply actions

That's what I was saying last year

Hunter is only around to teach the guys what it’s like to be a champion.

I think most of the courses are in ring-wearing.

How to be a champion:

“Get traded to the Lakers.”

I'm not sure I've ever understood the Taj hate

he’s pretty solid for a 24th pick.

yeah, he’s got hands made of greased stone and couldn’t grab a rebound off of a 9ft rim, but thats why we used the 24th pick on him and not the 16th.

besides, its not his fault the organization hates Tyrus and Brad doesn’t look like much of a better option either.

by darksmokepuncher on Dec 15, 2009 5:48 PM CST reply actions

But that's the rational approach to things

On the other hand, I think the Taj hate is pretty consistent with the general attitude toward players.

We like guys who still have a lot of potential, especially if it seems like management doesn’t like them much.

We like guys as long as they play far better than their contractual value, especially if it seems like management doesn’t like them much.

We like guys as soon as they go to other teams and we see a #)*(@&% Sportscenter highlight of them doing something good, which we then either swear we never saw them do as a Bull, and/or curse the org for letting them go “too soon.”

Just waiting on some offense....

I'd certainly take the player who's not living up to his potential, yet better

than the guy who’s trying really hard, but isn’t as good.

New rule

Taj has to have an NBA basketball in his hands round the clock. If anyone knocks it out of his hands he has to run 50 laps around the court.
