Open Game Thread #23: Bulls vs. L.A. Lakers

Not surprising that with fan discontent there isn't exactly a line forming to do game previews :-/

I was going to volunteer for the preview

But I’m stuck in the office grading papers and exams, with final grades due at midnight tonight. I figured doing a Bulls’ preview wasn’t worth risking my job. With break officially here starting at 12:01 am, I’ll be better about picking some up.

we need more Rose off-the-ball stuff

he’s so quick and such a good finisher that he should get 8-10 easy layups a night just from losing his man

nice, Salmons

that couldn’t have felt good on Kobe’s finger

It is kind of a funny question

Considering it’s effective for us

And that it’s one of the only two words Vinny knows during game/TO situations.

the biggest problem has been once the numbers aren’t there, and they’re forced to run halfcourt stuff, everybody just stand around. they don’t force anybody on the defense to exert themselves

I'd like to volunteer to provide an in-depth prediction. Here goes.

Laker’s blow out Bulls 119-70.

Bulls brass gives full endorsement after the game to Vinny saying the Bulls showed a lot of heart by coming back in the 4th quarter, closing a 66 point deficit to less than 50 thanks to some great shooting by Pargo and Gray, Vinny said he was proud that they didn’t quit saying he feels he’s finally getting thru to them on what he expects…..hustle, sharing, defense, shooting, dribbling, passing, rebounding and above all, being aggressive and running. Meanwhile thousands of fans could be seen running for the exits at the end of the 3rd quarter.

If you can't answer a man's arguments, all is not lost. You can still call him vile names.

by T.Moore on Dec 15, 2009 7:34 PM CST reply actions

as inept as ours. And Kobe will never play defense marginally close to as well Michael could.

by NerdVernacular on Dec 15, 2009 7:35 PM CST up reply actions

Mj faced great defenses.

Kobe faced the Raptors their D historically sucks.

by T.Moore on Dec 15, 2009 7:36 PM CST up reply actions

Defense is 50% of your game

That’s why I don’t think Wayne Gretzky was even a top 10 hockey player. He didn’t play defense. At all.

by NerdVernacular on Dec 15, 2009 7:36 PM CST up reply actions

How is kobe in the all NBA defense team I have no idea.

Considering that the NBA changed the rules to help the offense, seriously there are barely any lockdown defenders anymore

by T.Moore on Dec 15, 2009 7:38 PM CST up reply actions

Exactly

Today’s offensive stars would get a beating if they played in previous eras.

by NerdVernacular on Dec 15, 2009 7:39 PM CST up reply actions

i hate James's game,

but you guys are crazy if you think he’d take a beating in previous areas. yes, he’d be less effective cuz he wouldn’t get all the fouls/FTs, but we’re talking about a dude who’s as big as Karl Malone and as fast as Scottie Pippen… he’d hold his own physically without a doubt.

by Daniel Satan on Dec 15, 2009 7:43 PM CST up reply actions

Other than passing

He has no real skill,He never uses his body to post up.And his defense is overrated. And he is an inconsistent shooter. If he went up against the bad boys whe would be dead since he waits for the refs to call the fouls.

by T.Moore on Dec 15, 2009 7:46 PM CST up reply actions

he is an elite force

by Cosmis on Dec 15, 2009 7:49 PM CST up reply actions

i agree 100%, Moore

somehow the media keeps comparing him to Jordan, but to this point in his career, I think a better comparison is Shaq. physical freaks who dominated against all compeition, but never due to their skill-sets. yea, Lebron, like Shaq, will probably get his rings… but also like Shaq, he’s been disappointing through the early part of his career IMO

by Daniel Satan on Dec 15, 2009 7:52 PM CST up reply actions

agreed

but he might not react to the more physical game very well. he’d still be able to play though, and well.

With one miss

my entire opinion of Rose has changed.

That blow by was amazing….breathtaking…

If he finished that I mightve cried.

It takes so little to get me excited in the team I love, that was the single most amazing thing ive seen this year from this team.

Never die easy. Why run out of bounds and die easy? Make that Linebacker pay. It carries into all facets of your life. It's okay to lose, to die, but don't die without trying, without giving it your best.- Walter Payton

damn, everybody knows Fisher makes a living off standing in front of layups....

Rose’ll keep that in mind for next time and hopefully snap his achilles with a crossover or some shit

Who is responsible?

for convincing Brad Miller that it’s 2003 instead of 2009
