Podcastin' with Hardwood Paroxysm

Remember last week when Matt Moore of HardwoodParoxysm.com questioned the negativity of this here blog? And that was before 2 blowouts over the weekend and a loss to the Nets!

After that Nets game, I spoke with him on the Podcast Paroxysm for a solid 45 minutes, with the rambling, whining, cell-phone issues, and 'ums' that always make a BaB podcast appearance.

Can you please tell him personally for me

That If i can pay full price for 2 bulls tickets to the Boston game on Saturday that they will inevitably get their assholes stomped in at and not be able to get a refund for, that us poor fans who have been subjected to years of cheapness, mismanagement and straight up bullshit should at least be able to vent since obviously no one in bulls management reads this shit anyway.

Tyrus Thomas is really Stromile Swift with a retarded mask on..Think about it Same height, same school, same athletic ability, same sucky ass work ethic, same no real position having retarded statement making fucker. Hmmm

Well I can see his perspective I suppose if hes a Bobcats fan or something Iunno. But I think the point that we are a bigger market and have more talent than a number of teams does make it more frustrating too. Theres being a bad team and theres being a team thats underachieving or not developing. (not to mention even bad teams compete and the point of not really being able to trust the organization to make any great moves)

And Washington-Charlotte-Philly are competing at this point. I actually watch their games more than the Bulls heh.

I still think Ben Gordon was a motor for the team. A guy who can make a bucket during a drought or tough stretch and is just relentless/professional. It can be energizing (now we have plays that are more deflating) and help on D if you’re not drowning. A player that can iso and be a spot up and gets to the freethrow line.

Didn’t hear any ums though maybe it was the bad connection

the fact that were one of only 3 teams to not pay the tax in the past 10 years is a disgrace

that stat absolutely floored me. fuck you reinsdorf.

also i think you said weve only extended 2 of our 13 lotto picks this decade… really it was 3 (deng and hinrich, plus chandler), but we dumped chandler for nothing. well, not nothing, but our totally awesome talent evaluators perceived jr smith as “nothing.”

We're negative

Because our winning pecentage is going to be way below 500 this year. What is there positive to be about.

by Bullsfanla on Dec 11, 2009 10:50 AM CST reply actions

Less of a "You should be excited you almost beat the Nets!"

and more of just shock that there’s such overwhelming negativity. But as I pointed out, Matt really enlightened me on why there’s such rampant frustration. And again, a lot of it is because I watch so many worse teams, and I genuinely want this team to do well. But after the last three games, even I’ve hit the point where I’m like, yeah, they’ve hit bottom.

worst franchise of the decade?

Bulls suck hard. But I think that title goes to the clippers. We at least made the playoffs more than they ever did.But we are the bottom 5

by T.Moore on Dec 11, 2009 11:32 AM CST up reply actions

List the worse ones. Hmmm....

Golden State – one of those 8 seeds that beat a number 1 seed (not one that “almost” did it…)
ATL – not anymore
BOS – obviously not
Bobcats – only half a decade
T’Wolves – as as you said, were really competitive while Garnett was there

There might be 5 worse franchises, which is pathetic: Clippers, Knicks, Washington, Toronto, Memphis. 2 expansion team, the hilariously woeful Knicks, a weird Washington team and the most stingey owner in sports (hyperbole). That’s NOT good.

In the past 10 years, just four team owners have not paid a luxury tax and are not on pace to pay one this year: Donald Sterling, Jerry Reinsdorf, Chris Cohen (Golden State), Bob Johnson (Charlotte).

Two owners’ teams averaged an operating income of over +$10 million per year while their teams have lost over 60% of their games: Donald Sterling and Jerry Reinsdorf.

I'd say the Wiz have had a better decade overall

and the Hubie Brown Grizzlies and Vince Carter Raptors were better than any Bulls ‘era’ of the decade.

I’d concede the Warriors have been worse. Clips and Knicks are close.

Warriors...

At least they have always been fun to watch.

The only thing offensive on our team is the coaching.

by Khalid El-Amin on Dec 11, 2009 12:48 PM CST up reply actions

I don't think the Clippers or Knicks are close

But comparing our team to franchises where Donald Sterling and Isiah Thomas shaped the decade just shows how low the Bulls have sunk.

The 2009 White Sox....like a 40 degree day.

Sad to say but

the Grizzlies and the Bobcats are better than us this year. Historically worse the last couple of years, just not this one.

Oops, hit enter once too many, here it is:

I still read your columns/blogs I just have been too upset lately over the state of our Bulls to write. I’m sure you get tons of emails every day and probably don’t remember who sends what; but on the off chance that you do you’ll probably remember that I’ve been pretty critical of Bulls ownership in the past year or so. In case you’re wondering… I’m still pretty upset.

My question is this: do you think Jerry Reinsdorf would be able to give me one good reason why his basketball team deserves my support? I understand it’s not your place to tell the owner how he should spend his money and how much of it he should spend… but doesn’t it send the wrong message to Bulls fans that we sell out every game and yet he refuses to even spend as much on the Bulls as the White Sox (who rarely sell out)?

I mean, over the past 10 years we are professional basketball’s number one most profitable franchise (got a link for that too: http://www.forbes.com/lists/2005/32/321267.html); yet, we are one of only 4 teams that has refused to pay the luxury tax even once in that time period (the others being the Clippers, Bobcats and Warriors). Are we really on par with those other franchises? They make a ridiculously smaller amount of money than us. Why does Reinsdorf refuse to reward Bulls fans when he constantly overspends on has-beens for the Sox?

When I first heard what he said about trading all six Bulls championships for one with the White Sox I thought it was just him speaking in the moment (that doesn’t mean it’s excusable, though); it turns out he really doesn’t care about the Bulls so long as our overly loyal, often-blissfully-ignorant Chicago basketball fans are willing to pay for tickets and merchandise.

Again, not sure that you’re able to really give me an answer on this… but what do you think JR’s reason for deserving my support would be if I asked him?

I emailed him.. I'm not sure he knows all that much or he's just being selective in what he says.

I asked him about three questions and he replied to one about Jason Goff.

i don’t know. it seems everyone has said he could be fired
it’s easy to say every coach should be fired, which radio station hosts do because they generally are cowards and never come out of the studio to face anyone

I’m sure he gets a lot of emails so maybe he just kinda skims them over. I thought this was interesting. I guess he’s not a fan of the score.

At this point I think Sam generally backs the organization

they do sign his paychecks, y’know?

I just thought I’d try to elicit some sort of reaction from him; because I know the old Sam who really just likes to watch good basketball and see people/organizations do the right thing lives inside him still, somewhere.

Come On Bulls Org Do SOMETHING NOW!

Ok so I don’t think it’s quite fair that Vinny’s getting axed the way he’s getting axed….he probably shouldn’t have been hired here in the first place….I don’t think he’s a terrible coach, I think there’s promise, but we fans are too eager for more than “promise” and he’s been dealt a terrible hand at the moment……and even with all that, is right now failing miserably….

But come on losing 9 out of 10 byt he point spread we’ve been losing, all the while showing we have a premier PG (he is btw, might not yet be quite THE premier PG, but he’s amongst the tops in the league already with room to grow); we have a top 10 SF (lower realms); we have a solid Center, a good role playing C with still seemingly untapped potential, and we have a stud on the injury shelf….

DO SOMETHING. Either fire Vinny and get a new voice, or fire sale off a trade for a new locker room voice!

This is silly….the season might not yet be lost, but a few more poundings and it is, and it’s not even mid Dec yet…

Sadly....through thick and thin....
