Around SBN: Diego Sanchez and the Dangers of Fame in MMA

"If a guy was doing the Riverdance like that, coach would come over and say, 'Who's got the fewest amount of fouls of my big fellas?' " said ex-Celtic and TNT analyst Kevin McHale. "If you raised your hand, he would say, 'We will let him drive and then we will throw him on the ground.'

"When he is laying there we would say, 'Do you feel like dancing now?'

"And that pretty much solved the dancing problem."

The problem is...

that back then it would have been a foul and two shots. Now it would be a Flagrant-2 (unless you’re Rondo) maybe a suspension for taking out the “King” and definitely a $10,000 fine or more.

by CubFan81 on Dec 11, 2009 8:00 AM CST reply actions

That's why you get someone like Gray to do it

Suspensions won’t hurt your team, and the org. can cover the fine.

by diedaily23 on Dec 11, 2009 8:17 AM CST up reply actions

I don't think they can.

In the past 10 years, just four team owners have not paid a luxury tax and are not on pace to pay one this year: Donald Sterling, Jerry Reinsdorf, Chris Cohen (Golden State), Bob Johnson (Charlotte).

Two owners’ teams averaged an operating income of over +$10 million per year while their teams have lost over 60% of their games: Donald Sterling and Jerry Reinsdorf.

by tyger1147 on Dec 11, 2009 8:36 AM CST up reply actions

No they can't...

But, Gray is making a cool million this year…10,000 is a bit of money, but I am willingto bet if the guy needed anything after that but couldn’t get it because he only made 990,000 this year….I am willing to bet someone would step up and help the guy out :).

by DRose01 on Dec 11, 2009 8:53 AM CST up reply actions

That Gray's only value

to the team, certified goon and hitman, everyteam needs one

by QUINTEN DALEY on Dec 11, 2009 10:35 AM CST up reply actions

It would be more....than $10K

For a typical player maybe $10K, for James, it’ll be 2-5x that at least…

Sadly....through thick and thin....

Wait a minute...

Let’s cut Vinny some slack here. Isn’t it entirely possible that when he was yelling “attack!” 1000 times during that game he was talking about getting Lebron?

I didn’t see McHale on there last night.

But I did hear Herm Edwards- Jalen Rose- Mike Wilbon-Tony Korn-Skip Bayless and siding with Jo.

Eh too bad the league isn't like this anymore.

You’d have to ask Luol Deng to do that foul and he doesn’t look interested in something like that.

Agreed on this

The NBA is soft as hell now, Lebron would of done that is the 80’s to early 90’s he would of been laid out next time we went to the hoop.

What happened to the Da Bulls?

by Belize on Dec 11, 2009 11:41 AM CST up reply actions

I'd rather one of the leaders did it

Luol would be good. I don’t care about your player rep. The nicest guy on the team would send the best message.

12/31: Fire Vinny Del Negro.

worse yet

Nocioni would be a better shooter than anyone else on the team, too

All your base are belong to Vinny.

by BCs71 on Dec 11, 2009 4:08 PM CST up reply actions

eh, I think this loses the focus of the whole situation

the point of all of it was that LeBron is a jackass.

The Bulls failure is on the court, they suck. If they don’t get blown out they don’t have to worry about ’respect.

That's a good point

I didn’t see LeBron dancing when they got beat by Memphis and Houston the last two games!

It's a great way to see

how fast LeBron really is.

That's what I was going to say

That way if anybody has a problem with it he can lay em out! Plus he doesn’t play anyway so if gets suspended it won’t matter.

The Bulls need an enforcer

when you’re this bad and you continuously get your brains beaten in on the court, you need someone to go out there and make the opponent afraid to run up the score on you. The Bulls don’t have that.

Of course, that’s like problem #1,001.

This is some REAL TALK by McHale. Who cares if it’s a flagrant?
