Fire Vinny .... Replace with Paxson (Frustration rant)

Time to put Vinny out of his misery and put Paxs on the hot seat he deserves

Star-divide

Last night I tried to think back on the last time I was ashamed to be a Bulls fan, the last time I wouldn't rock any of my Chicago gear in public. The answer ..... never, not even during the Kornel David, Rusty Larue days. These past couple of weeks have been downright embarrassing. Blow out after blow out and the apparent lack of effort by this team and the coaching staff. GarPaxdorf can kiss a 2010 plan good bye, no one will come here now. They say the grass is greener on the other side and if I was a 2010 free agent looking into our yard, all I'm seeing is dirt and dead grass.

So who's fault is this and where do we begin the pointing of fingers? Should we first start with good ole Jerry but we've know for years that we doesn't care about our ball club. So that leaves us with the guy we once hailed as a hero and wanted to believe would turn our franchise around. Year after year he has talked about his plan and the process we have in place. Year after year we've watched him make the wrong move or no move at all. Year after year we've said hey there is always next year, hey we're only one low post score away from contending. This is his mess and he should be forced to come down from the owners box and coach this crap team. Let me say that Rose and Noah are the only two players Ibelieve in the long run fit our plans. Everyone else is expendable, Paxson has managed to put together the worst roster in the NBA. Don't think so look at the line ups it speaks for itself.

We die hard fans deserve to see Paxson on the front lines coaching, answering the post game question on why his team can't win games, why his process blew up and didn't work. I want to see him suffer just like we do game after game. I want him to finally man up and say "I messed up" and the shrinking away in shame after this season.

Honestly I think this team might win 20 games max and probably end up with a top 3 pick if the bouncing balls are kind to us. Salmons will not opt out because now one is going to pay him more then what he's getting next year based on how he is playing now. I would say that this off season would be a ray of sunlight but if Paxs is still in control it's going to be more of the same. Or should I say more of the shame!!!!

Pax reportedly quit his job as an assistant coach

because of the workload and travel.

I doubt he’s interested, and Uncle Jerry would spare him the ‘embarrassment’. There will be no front office shakeup until they both have a good cry and Pax quits and ’dorf begs him not to, and Gar is outside the office pressing his ear to the door.

quit assistant coach job because of the workload and travel

Wow.. I missed that previous detail. It’s like hiring someone to be in charge or your company and you already know they don’t want to and probably can’t do the job anyway.
Dorf knew this, because he’s a smart man, so he was glad to find a stupid puppet to hang the criticism on to as he profits financially. Can Paxson really be that stupid to shoulder the frustration of this badly run organization from a competitive NBA perspective or is he being paid so well he doesn’t mind being the fall guy to shoulder the criticism for a 6-to-10 year period in his life?

just like the group he put together in 2007.

Kinda funny how Paxson’s DNA has kinda been imprinted on this team isn’t it?

Exactly

That’s why I think Paxson is playing puppet master behind the scenes until Jerry is comfortable with Gar. JJ and TG are Paxson type picks.

by Bullsfanla on Dec 10, 2009 6:12 PM CST up reply actions

I'd bet you Gar is no less puppet master than John Paxson!

Jerry is just the guy with the $$$$

John is the puppet master telling Gar what to do. Gar to me seems clueless from the 1st time he opEned his mouth he sounded like MINI PAX.

maybe ..

Bulls investors … make Reinsdorf puppet master …. Dorf tell Paxson who becomes Puppet master to Gar and Gar become puppet master to Vinny

and

Paxson or Gar becomes puppet master to the players and the media when they are ready for the team to quit on the coach?

You guys keep hoping in fantasy land, i will keep living in reality

The bulls suck!!! Why does anyone think a change in coaching will turn this horror show around?? Look at the “players” we have

Miller=soft, no post game, shaky defense, low percentage shooter

Deng=overpaid, poor shooter, mediocre D, no inside game

Salmons=ball hog, poor defense, bad shot selection, mediocre shooting percentage

Hinrich=injury prone, ok defense, no midrange consistency, shaky from the three

Gibson=foul prone, aggressive at the wrong times on offense, medicore defense

JJ=out of shape, low BBall IQ, out of shape (substitute Gray here as well)

Pargo=streaky game all around

Hunter= (do i really need to write anything here?)

Since TT is out, i will let you decide on his game analysis, I think he is ok, but not a break out type player

The only 2 players that play hard and seem interested (for the most part) are Rose (when he is being his aggressive self) and Noah (who seems to bring it night in and night out)

With this bunch of sorry ass excuses for NBA players, how the hell does anyone expect any more than the mediocrity that has been displayed for the entire nation to see??

THE BULLS HAVE PUT MORE SHIT ON THE SCREEN THAN A GERMAN SCAT VIDEO!!!!

I agree w/ this

points, but Vinny doesn’t inspire or motivate, as coach you can compete w/ lesser talent, I’m not inspired or motivated when I watch Del Negro on the sidelines

True

This team is poop I can’t see Vinny leading this team to a Championship (or a +.500 season) so the sooner he goes the better.

the problem

is obvious but when does the problem get solved, that is the $64,000.00 question, it’s more than coach though.

by sugarbear06 on Dec 10, 2009 5:14 PM CST up reply actions

Coach 1st

Then players later ….. we need a change and Vinny should be first to go. Another coach would hold these cats accountable for not playing hard and being soft as baby doo do. Vinny ain’t doing that, he should be so pissed about losing by 30 that he flips his wig and gets ejected.

the sad part is this team is worst off than the 2007 team that quit.

A trade is eminent, but we really seem to be in a position of extreme weakness on the bargining table?

I get this feeling that many smart guys in the coaching ranks

prefer to stay in the college ranks because of all this BS with owners like Reinsdorf.

It really seems that in the NBA we have a few elite coaches and many of the rest are so bad, really bad that their brand of basketball is sicking to watch. Cleveland has better players and one of the best players in the NBA, but I hate watching that stupidly coached team. And I like LBJ as a basektball player but that’s not enough.

NBA basketball is really not so interesting unless you have a elite team..

I think Reinsdorf gets it too hard, Paxson too easy here

Your typical NBA owner — and Reinsdorf is actually typical — plays it like this:

- they won’t go over the salary cap
- they hire a GM who is largely in charge (the owner meddles to some extent, but not much)
- they’d prefer to 1) make money, 2) win, 3) not employ a bunch of fan-punching players
- they’ll pay coaches sometimes, but other times not, it really depends

Forget Reinsdorf. He’s just typical. He’s playing within the rules. This isn’t baseball where the Yankees spend 10 times what the Pirates spend.

Plus, in baseball, look at Reinsdorf and Kenny Williams. Reinsdorf is fine having an active GM, and an active manager/coach too (Ozzie).

So….

The problem begins and ends with Paxson:

- he’s horrible at his job - his failed at coach-hiring (afraid of someone better than himself), drafting (can’t really evaluate talent) and can’t consummate a difference-making trade (always an effing excuse)
- he’s not a former, player basketball junkie
, behind-the-scenes-active-style GM (Pritchard , Ainge, Kupchak)
- he’s not a loves the limelight/press GM (Donnie Walsh, Bryan Colangelo)
- he’s not a done it all before/king of the world GM (Pat Riley)
- he’s not a stats/numbers new-style GM (Daryl Morey)
- he’s not even a young GM (Sam Presti)
- more than anything, he doesn’t even really want the job — he gave away at least part of his authority to someone likely to be even less successful than he’s been and he’s just sat back and watched it all go to sh*t.

In what other industry could he even keep his job — especially in this economy today?

None.

The closest analogous job-holder to him might be the Queen of England — privileged title holder at one time beloved by her (his nation) but now irrelevant.

I really can’t think of anyone else who can hold on to a job today and be less successful or accountable.

There’s your Chicago Bulls…..

Disagree

Go back and read through the Reinsdorf threads where Yao Pau and I were talking about Reinsdorf. The average NBA owner is quite willing to forego a smidge of profit (like having an 18% ROI compared to a 20% ROI) to win more. Also, the average NBA owner is actually willing to generally stay out of the GM’s way, and willing to hold the GM accountable.

Reinsdorf seems perfectly willing to tolerate poor decision-making from his GM and from himself as psuedo GM.

That’s the problem in a nutshell. I agree that GarPax has been a problem. He seems to have gotten discouraged and quit, and made bad decisions, but is still hanging around. Hence, there’s no plan.

But still, the owner has obviously contributed with those decisions (his views on Gordon, Paxson, etc… his buddiness with Arn Tellem, etc), and he’s tolerated bad decision-making where other owners would have shown the GM the door for such poor decisions.
