Tyrus injures arm while weightlifting
["We made a decision a year ago not to retain Tyrus. This year we were never on the same page with all season, we felt Taj played well and Tyrus was injured in the preseason, the flu, and then an injury weightlifting. By the time he returned here he had no role. We feel it was best to renounce his rights to enter unrestricted free agency" - Jerry Reinsdorf, July 2010 -ed.]
Can it be? Another cover up story?!

I don't think he knows much about what goes on
“Hopefully, everything is fine,” coach Vinny Del Negro said. “I’m not even exactly sure how he got hurt yet. But he tweaked his arm a little bit and he’s pretty sore.”

haha yeah I thought this was even better:
“I think he was doing some type of pull-up or whatever,” Del Negro said.

Good, good. Have to maintain plausible deniability
“I don’t know nothing about nobody. Nobody saw nothing. I was with Chris, Tony and Paulie the whole time.”

This is becoming ridiculous
well we can let Tyrus go and watch him flourish in other systems with solid head and developmental coaches

I picture the Bulls weight room
being some old-timey facility with medicine balls and those old school ab machines where it motors that strap around your waist.

what the hell is going on man... this is getting ridiculous...
whats wierd is no trade rumors have leaked… just fan/pundent speculation. which leaves me to believe this is about having beef with the coach.

When Lindsey Hunter

Thomas is a head case
We should ship him to any team willing to take him.

wait from what im reading here into sarcasm you guys are telling me you dont believe anything fishy is going on with this?
like, as in, you actually believe he is injured/sick? I just want to clear it up. havn’t been following the discussion previous to this post.
by mandoman10 on Nov 6, 2009 3:19 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
i have no idea
there is really no way of knowing. This seems like a ridiculous series of missteps for Thomas, but at the same time, I would hope that the organization wouldn’t be so bush league as to make up a bunch of fake stories. So at the end of the day, I’m going to believe the reporting until I hear different. It is impossible to draw conclusions from the info out now.
by Basketball Smurf on Nov 6, 2009 3:21 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
i see. i just think with the nba your better off assuming that where there is smoke there is fire.
sorry for repeating myself, but I dont really know how else to put it. but im sure you can think of instances just like this and how the speculation all ended up being true.
by mandoman10 on Nov 6, 2009 3:27 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
like it seems to me that the fact that the bulls wont/can't retain ty thomas this offseason (something ive been convinced of on this site)
coupled with the fact that him and his coach are not on the same page…
could easily lead to this situation.
by mandoman10 on Nov 6, 2009 3:29 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
Ugh :(
I hope it’s nothing and that he’s back soon.
I’d hate for it to be a Francisco Garcia type of thing…
by kozzer on Nov 6, 2009 3:32 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
Garcia was doing a weight-lifting
workout on one of them big exercise balls, it popped, he severely hurt his wrist, and is out for a few weeks/months.
by kozzer on Nov 6, 2009 3:50 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
no no. i know that. im saying u seriously believe hes actually injured?
by mandoman10 on Nov 6, 2009 3:53 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
Unless they're lying
about the x-rays, or have faked them, yes. I was extremely dubious about the “flu” thing, but faking this injury doesn’t make sense from any perspective.

Fractured arm, out 4-6 weeks
Per text message from the Bulls.
by Big D on Nov 6, 2009 3:52 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
make that 4 months...
“Kings basketball president Geoff Petrie didn’t want to speculate about just how much time Francisco Garcia could miss with what he called a broken right wrist. And, well, there’s hidden point there: there’s plenty of time to get into that.
He’ll be gone awhile because of a fluke injury on a physioball that burst during an exercise and will require surgery tomorrow morning. It was something that has certainly happened before but not always with an athlete whose healthy presence means so much to the company that’s paying him $5.8 million this season. There was an outpouring of sympathy at Kings practice today, where Petrie decided to address the situation in our darkened media room.
As I said in my home in Twitterland, this obviously ups Desmond Mason’s chances of sticking around for the regular season roster. He’s been out both preseason games with back spasms, though, so he obviously needs to get healthy and show a few things. Also on the injury front, Andres Nocioni is day to day and didn’t practice because of hamstring tendinitis, Spencer Hawes remained out with his sprained left ankle, Sean May was out with flu-like symptoms, and then you had Mason in limited action with the (back)."

i swear
either it is a MAJOR coincidence or there has to be something up here….1. Loses playing time to a rookie and complains about it. 2. Gets Flu and misses game 3. Fractures arm out for a month + 4. Doesn’t get contract extension…………..allllll in the same week. I know these things probably are the case, but its hard not to think something more is going on behind the scenes.
by K_yle33 on Nov 6, 2009 3:58 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
i'm so sad. i feel the same as if this had happened to my little brother.
all of it. the arm, his being given the runaround, getting lost in game situations, all of it.

Now the lack of depth of this team will be exposed
Taj is actually fine as a 4th big man (though he was playing too many minutes already), but now he’s going to be overextended playing starter’s minutes. Miller is going to wear down with more minutes too. This also means James Johnson is going to be forced into the rotation, and by all accounts he’s not remotely ready. The Bulls actually had a good 8 man rotation, but you can’t get through the season playing only 8-9 guys.
