It's you

I thought his handle looked great, flashy and cutting. Cleveland was doing a great job switching different defenders on him all night (and they have 3 solid defenders in Parker, West and James)…..Rose obv most effective against Mo.

I thought Rose looked better, but then again even with him at 70% he’s faster than the Cleveland guards…..I hope he gets back to hole soon though. Looked confident today.

No, I thought he looked great as well

I think his handle will improve as he gets his legs under him more, but there is no way that it is as good now as it was last year. Although he didn’t turn the ball over, he was definitely fumbling it a lot

I just think

It was a combo of the legs and better defenders…..Parker’s D really impressed today (I’m sure it didn’t show up in the stats)….

We’re trying to figure out who is the man right now….Rose will be the man when he’s 100%….Deng looked scared to death to be that guy. Salmons of course tried (show’s little emotion) but of course he’s still off….

Good thing for Vinny that the NBA won't likely recognize the official BaB standings at the end of the year

In those standings I would expect the Bulls to be 10-40-32 for wins-losses-ugly wins

I didn't think it was

a particularly ugly game, just an extremely physical game. I think Brown wanted to force his teams physicality in the hopes that the speedy, athletic, thin Bulls would cave like we do against Boston. It was nice we didn’t and we matched their aggressive physicality with heart….

Who are our captains this year? Noah should be one…..

Is Kirk still one (he can be)….

It should be Rose (obviously); Noah (energy guy who the team feeds off of) and Hinrich (leads the second team)….

I’d be fine swapping Hinrich with Deng, though Hinrcih’s typically more vocal.

I bet it’s some stupid thing like Hunter, Pargo and Rose….

Sure….

Kobe is better than Lebron, Wade is better than them both. Lebron is the most talented of the three though thanks mostly to his height and frame…but is just not quite the leader….

When did height and frame become talent?

When that height and frame is on a guy

With the gifts of Lebron.

When height and frame isn’t considered a good player gets Ben GOrdon’ed.

Height (6 8) and frame (that athletic with that build, definitely add to Lebron’s talent don’t they?

Heck there are plenty guys who get in the league because they’re really tall…it’s the way it is.

If Lebron was 6 2, even with the talent he has, he wouldn’t be a superstar.

Also if he was built like Tayshawn Prince and not like oh Ray Lewis, he wouldn’t be a superstar.

He’s a beast.

I consider size a physical attribute, not talent.

For example, on the Lakers early this decade, Shaq may have been the most valuable player on the team, but in terms of ability and skills (i.e. talent), “Coby” was far superior. Shaq was only “better” in terms of size.

While

I said Kobe and Wade over Lebron….I’d be ridiculously happy with Lebron here…maybe him here first given the talent, size and versatility….

If we got LBJ in place of Tyrus, I’d then be happy to say by to T2….and see him blow up elsewhere….

But I bet we’ll get some washed up old guy or a Boozer type who makes us better on paper, and slightly better but doens’t make us title threats….

Once the fish

Gets back to knowing in his 2 role when to shoot and drive and not clog with Deng, I think he’ll be fine and less complete ball stopper because the drive game will make up for his inefficiency…..

Course he’s a ball stopper (king of my turn) but he won’t be as ineffective and thus it won’t be so painful.

Teams often do crazy junk in pressure situations. I doubt VDN said "Whatever happens, Rose doesn't get the ball!"

But they do need to have Rose move to the ball and Salmons give it up. I don’t know why that didn’t happen.

In all honesty, he did nothing tonight

to put aside my doubts. Everyone knows he’s good, the doubters, myself included, just aren’t sure he’ll be a superstar, and he still was pretty timid tonight. He didn’t attack all that much and absolutely crumbled when Lebron covered him late in the game. I still want to say more assertion and swagger from him.

All things considered (conditioning, timing, explosiveness)....

I’d say he was pretty assertive down the stretch. Having said that, he’s unselfish by nature, but I think that’s a good thing in the long run. Now that BG is gone, he’s going to have a ton of opportunities to handle the ball late and I trust him to make good decisions.

Superstars and unselfishness

are not compatible. You can be pretty good and be reserved, and defer in big moments, but if you’re going to be to the Bulls what Lebron, Wade, Paul, Roy and Melo are to their respective teams, you need some selfishness, some nastiness. I still want to see that. It’s been said that in basketball you see greatness right off of the bat, I hope that’s not true, as I haven’t seen greatness from Derrick. All that said, he was good tonight, and this was a nice win, and the defense was excellent.

He's the point guard

Yes, wee need him to be selfish at times, but we need him to be a good decision maker/distributor. There will be times where that means drawing attention and dishing to guys for open 3s or underneath for dunks.

Magic Johnson (no, I’m not calling Derrick Magic) was as unselfish as you could be and turned out just fine. He has more rings than all of the guys you mentioned combined.

The defense has been much better than expected

I think the offense will start to improve once Salmons and Hinrich start hitting their shots and, more importantly, Rose gets to full health and offering constant penetration

no it doesn't

but Taj is showing that he was worthy of being taken where he was taken.

Not over Blair, but he has shown hewas worth a second-round pick, thus far.

Yeah, but the reason for the shooting looking so bad

is because . . . dare I say it, spacing.

The offense isn’t giving this team much room for open shots.

Yes, a lot have shots are missed when open but I think if you were to compare last year and this year, you could noticeably see the difference. And yes, one of the few reasons I do miss BG

Should have saved it in case the Bulls had trouble inbounding the ball.

He helped us enough in the Skiles era and definitely helped CP3….it’s just he wanted more money than the $3.5-4M for 3-4 yeras or whatever they initially offered. He balked and wanted more and lost his contract (bad managment and that was a terrible contract offer than NO lucked out on).

He’s ok…..so long as he’s not overused, esp for $1.1 or whatever million for 1 yr.

It wasn’t just the fact that he got a double-double. He showed to be faster than a few days ago and more aggressive. Even though he committed 2 TO that cost six points in the third, I think, he played very well. George Hill, Aaron Brooks, Jordan Farmar, Jason Maxiell, Kevin Martin.

Well

Bulls survived a few phantom calls (the Lebron drive to start the 4th where Hinrich was set but Hinrich got called a foul for a 3 pt play; the loose ball in the fourth right in front of the officials where Varejao grabbed the ball about 1 ft out of bounds and the ref let it go, the hack of Shaq on Taj that was somehow called a clean block, etc etc etc….and we still won this one (Lebron complaining about that last call when the contact ocurred after he initiated contact on Noah and after he had lost the ball after Deng’s solid D)….

Bulls looked a lot better.

Kirk HInrich was the unsung hero, defensively looked great, offensively as a distributor looked very solid (the one play in the 3rd where he tried to get too flashy on a pass was silly in a close game but aside from that looked great)….doing all the dirty work.

Salmons looked more comfortable and slowed down after taking some ill advised shots in the 1st.

Deng’s looking like the real deal (Great for him and for my fantasy team)…

And Rose got some mojo going (granted against Mo—can’t guard an ant) Williams, but it’s good….I can’t wait until he’s healthy.

It’s nice that Taj showed against a slow frontcourt he can be very good, a nice array of moves. I like Taj. Still I hope when Tyrus is healthy, Taj sits for a bit and Vinny works Taj in more (Tyrus is a better talent, defender and all around player with more athleticism), but we should bring Taj on, he looks like he deserves 15 MPG already 5 games in and can sit in well when others on injurty. That’s great.

I hope as the season goes on, James Johnson will show up on the floor in non garbage time…..

But yeah, I knew we’d have a chance in this one if we ran against the Cavs. Mike Brown’s looking like a worse coach right now than Vinny (Funny how a mismatched roster makes you look terrible—Shaq and Big Z can’t coexist), the Cavs’ll still win 50 (my preseason pick for them) but they won’t be where they were….too slow especially against the East….

Great win for us though….I hope that Bucks comeback and this sparks us. Too much talent on this team to have a half like we had in the Bucks game or the Celtics blowout…..
