[From the fanshots. Another, more pessimistic update on Hinrich from KC Johnson. We've seen the Bulls bungle a diagnosis just last season with Deng, so tough to speculate anything accurately until we actually see Hinrich practicing and playing again. They have to seriously consider signing any guard, though that'd imply they were ever serious about this season (they weren't). -ed.]

Not good news with Pargo nursing a sore shoulder and the oldest player in the NBA as the other back-up. KC mentions several crappy veterans that could be signed in his absence...Szczberiak, Daniels or Stackhouse...Dispels any thoughts of A.I. coming to town...

Why is no one mentioning Rashad McCants? He would be a good fit... [ed. note: McCants is supposedly a beyond-jerkish jerkface. I suppose it's possible being shut out of the league after posting good numbers as a 24 year old could humble him. -yfbb]

JJ is only creative in the hair salon when he gets his BBD haircut

his tats are pretty creative too...

Probably the best ones on the team. (…thinking about Brad Miller and Rose’s tats…) Ok, definitely the best tats on the team.

LMFAO @ the BBD haircut,

man that is a bad cut, Vinny is probably benching him for that

by QUINTEN DALEY on Dec 2, 2009 4:01 PM CST up reply actions

This is good Vinny has no choice but to play James Johnson now.

He can play some 2 or even be like a point forward. Hopefully Johnson is allowed to make a few more mistakes and is not yanked.

JJ is too fat to even consider guarding 2s…he can barely guard 3s.

not to mention he sucks ass

McCants is a little crazy

but maybe that is what the Bulls need right now

by chitownsports25 on Nov 29, 2009 10:26 AM CST reply actions

I don't understand why this guys name comes up

He’s a bum, he’s never done anything past college level he’s not gonna be an improvement, if we need s guard who can score why not mention A.I? This is getting pretty ridiculous, some of these guys on this board rip A.I for his supposed bad attitude, yet they call for another guy with a known attitude issue but this one hasn’t done anything but dissapoint and irritate. I’d rather call up Byars or some D- league baller than Mccants.

by Mr Rhythm on Nov 29, 2009 1:40 PM CST up reply actions

In case you had not noticed,

the Bulls need someone who can shoot 3’s.

why not mention A.I?

"Then you need a center so if the ball gets stuck between the rim and backboard he can reach up and knock it loose instead of having to spend 15 minutes trying to hit it with a broom stick." – Sam Smith

by Granny Waiters on Nov 29, 2009 3:27 PM CST up reply actions

Mccants is a 36% career 3pt shooter, Iverson is 31%

This guy isn’t a phenomenal scorer, shooter, anything and he’s 6’4. Iverson is better than this guy right now, so why discuss this bum who can’t get a job when you can get a really good hall of famer who still has game? That’s my point.

by Mr Rhythm on Nov 29, 2009 5:48 PM CST up reply actions

I screamed

for McCants during the summer, guy that could come off the bench, shoot the 3 and score

by QUINTEN DALEY on Dec 2, 2009 4:03 PM CST up reply actions

McCants seems to have a bad-boy rep

Although I agree, he seems way too obvious to not look at.

Chemistry wise, I have a hard time imagining he’d be a complete disaster. How horrible can a guy who’s been dumped by several teams and on the street be?

I mean, I can see why they wouldn’t sign AI. I wouldn’t, because other players wouldn’t stand up to him, and you’d have a really hard time across the board getting a guy with his accomplishments to buy into the team. To put it differently, if he didn’t buy into the team, I can see him sewing a lot of dissension.

I can’t see that happening with McCants. If McCants goes off and complains or doesn’t play as the team asks him, you either have team captains… Joakim Noah threaten to rip him in half, or you throw his ass out and find someone else.

by Sports2 on Nov 29, 2009 10:28 AM CST reply actions

"How horrible can a guy who’s been dumped by several teams and on the street be?"

Considering he was dumped by the T-Wolves and Kings, two of the worst teams in the league, pretty horrible. Not to mention the fact that he wasn’t that good, since no one else has bothered to sign him. No thanks.

by Big D on Nov 29, 2009 11:11 AM CST up reply actions

McCants had a PER over 17 with Sacramento...

Numbers say he was above average in Sac-Town last year…calling him horrible is hyperbole. Remember McCants was injured at the end of last season, which is why he did not get an invite to the Rockets camp…on his twitter, he is healthy and ready to play…

McCants definitely fits the bill as a low cost solution.

But the Bulls simply do not tolerate “bad boys”. I can’t see them picking him up. Hope I’m wrong.

by Basketball Smurf on Nov 29, 2009 2:22 PM CST up reply actions

McCants can score. Can shoot 3s. Definitely worth a look.

by C Smoove on Nov 29, 2009 12:40 PM CST reply actions

Anyone who can dribble without falling down is worth a look.

Fuck it, just bring back MJ for the season. I guarantee he can score more efficiently than Salmons.

by Camry on Nov 29, 2009 4:34 PM CST up reply actions

I don’t know if injured players travel with the team…

He is a sell out because he left Chicago to join a hated division rival (if they are even on that level anymore) for a marginal amount of more money (by professional sports standards).

Far as I know, the Bulls didn't extend any offer.

So he left them for $58M (or whatever the exact amount was) more than they offered.

by Sports2 on Nov 29, 2009 9:28 PM CST up reply actions

Please...

He turned down 5 year, $50M and 6 year $54M for a 5 year $55M deal in Detroit…I get that extra million per year or extra million guaranteed is a huge amount of money, but in relation to the size of the deal, its less than a 2% difference…I would understand leaving for a max deal, but he left for a relatively small raise…and he is still not the highest paid player on his own team…

And he did not wait for a counter offer from the Bulls

He signed the day free agents were allowed to sign. While still in Detroit. What’s pathetic is paying $50 plus for empty numbers.

Enjoy your next 5 years of sub .500 ball, Ben.

by Trey23 on Nov 30, 2009 10:13 AM CST up reply actions

You have heard of the free agent moratorium, right?

Apparently not, so… teams can start negotiating with free agents on July 1st. However, to allow the league to figure out the cap and luxury tax, etc., they can’t actually sign until July 8th. Gordon was offered on July 1st. The Bulls had 8 days to make a counter-offer. They didn’t. You are wrong.

actually

he gave the pistons a verbal agreement on the 1st. he didn’t give the bulls a chance to respond.

he couldn’t sign the actual contract until the 8th, but he had already agreed.

All those guys mentioned seemed washed up

if we taking a flyer on a player, I would choose Wally if healthy. Otherwise I’d just look for the best d-league guy. Daniels and Stackhouse are bad.

by Basketball Smurf on Nov 29, 2009 1:50 PM CST reply actions

of corse they are!

that is why they don’t have jobs. you sign one of them for 10 days and dump them when Kirk comes back. I’d say it’s a simple decision.

by 72-10 on Nov 29, 2009 6:06 PM CST up reply actions

I don't think the vets would sign for 10-days

for instance, I read that the Wizards wanted to sign Daniels but he’d only do so for a guaranteed deal. There’s been no indication that Iverson would take a minimum deal anywhere, let alone a non-contender.

but yeah, just sign a d-leaguer for 10 days

Bottom line is

AI has to be the answer (no pun intended, seriously)…we need instant offense, plain and simple. He can provide that, whats the hold up? Sign him already, this team is sinking fast, and a life presserver is just drifting along, waiting to be pulled in

You know things are bad when people are calling for a rookie 3 that has done nothing all season to run the point.

Rucker!

I think that the Bulls should sign the best (current) shooter from Rucker Park. they can’t do much worse at the moment…

…but everyday that Thabo trade is looking worse and worse… some SG depth would really look good about now.

by silentpete on Nov 29, 2009 10:07 PM CST reply actions

He still can't do anything on offense. It would have been subbing crap for crap.

Just another example of a high-potential player that went nowhere in Chicago, good riddance he’s gone and enjoying his time in OKC.
