Jazz 105, Bulls 86

4th straight blowout loss. 'A loss is a loss', sure. But this means they really are bad if they're losing by so much every game.

To be honest, if Hinrich's out for a significant time it may be a while until the next win. With him and Tyrus that's two hurt of a 7-deep team. They weren't really 'constructed' to survive that.

I kinda wanna see Chuck and Kenny rip on the Bulls in the PG show.

It’s gotten to the point where it’s gotta get worse before it gets better. Like someone in the game thread said, the Bulls are like a three-legged dog. They got no chance at anything. Vinny should be put down.

Yup.....they need to dump VDN and just start the season over [from a coaching standpoint]

They’ll keep losing initially, but the product is awful and there aint no quick fixes.

AI is pointless...BUT....

…Byron Scott would be an upgrade and would light some fires.

But at this point I don’t know if a coaching change is the only answer. The organizational philosophy is F’ed up right now. The Bulls need to start acquiring more talent and KEEPING they’re best and most talented players instead of shuttling them away because mgmt doesn’t like something about their attitudes or demeanor.

The other post looks like denial. Rose is a player whos going to listen to his coach and please his teammates. His theme has always been having a great supporting cast whether it be in Memphis or off the court with his family from reports at least.

His jumper has been falling but I think hes also discouraged by lack of fouls called last year and just recovering from an injury. But hes been going to the hoop lately the thing is he’ll last longer having a jumper. I think hes been driving as much as D-Wade these past games just need to see his game evolve now mentally.

I'm going to have to wait for coach #2, before I reach that conclusion

This experience to this point tells me he’s not able to excel on his own. I’m not convinced he wouldn’t be further along if you had a better coach. As an example, I wasn’t impressed with Deron Williams his rookie year, but he has gotten a ton better since then.

Honestly, a better coach might not have him in the starting lineup right now b/c he’s been so average and that’s not the end of the world at 21. But it doesn’t seem like Derrick is a knucklehead who doesn’t accept coaching, so I’m convinced a better coach would be much harder on him, construct an offense more conducive to his strengths, and have him improve.

Other observations from tonight's debacle

Miller has now gone 3 straight games (52 minutes) without a field goal.

Taj has hands of stone (but at least he’s usually in a good position when he lets an easy pass roll off his hands out of bounds). Another positive in his favor is that he commits a lot of stupid fouls which like a mercy killing for the fans, forces Vinny the Ninny to remove his sorry ass off the court.

Sorry, all you Sefalosha haters, Thabo would have been a huge upgrade over Pargo the Putrid and Lindsey the Leper. Keeping him would have also prevented the Bulls from drafting Taj, everybody’s favorite, especially his opponents on the other teams.

For everyone who constantly rags on Tyrus and Kurt, how do you like the Bulls defensive prowess without them? Kurt may spend a lot of his time making crop circles, but at least he can direct some offensive sets. Without him the Bulls resemble a Chinese fire drill instead of a well oiled NBA machine, despite Vinny’s brilliant leadership and direction.

If you can't answer a man's arguments, all is not lost. You can still call him vile names.

Final comment before checking out. It was much more enjoyable eating turkey than watching these turkeys.

Vinny and his crew should go gobble.

Can anyone explain how a mega athletic point guard like Derrick can play 38 minutes in 2 straight games and not go the foul line even one time? Do we need a new offensive coordinator? Maybe we can get Ron Turner to switch from the Bears. After all, look what he’s done for Jay Cutler.

If I may interject my sullen Bulls compatriots......

As much as I’d love to get Vinny in a room and deliver 4 or 5 really hard back hand slaps for being stupid, I cannot blame him entirely for the losses we’ve had recently. We’re playing without one of our main guys Tyrus, and we missed Kert in the Utah game. So our best scoring, and defensive big man is out, then we lose probably our best shooter, one of our top assist men, and a good defender in Kert, we already don’t shoot well at home, what do we expect to happen playing on the road against the best teams in the NBA? The struggles are to be expected. We have average wing men who don’t shoot well outside and aren’t great athletes in Salmons and Deng. We have a hard working Big guy in Noah who really isn’t a scorer, we have a old red neck on the bench who cannot defend anyone or rebound, we have a break dancing ninja as a first round pick who comes from from Wyoming……and another rookie who’s 24 years old but has no finger prints which means he cannot grip the ball well. Sounds pretty bad, but ….well….o.k for now it is, but …….alright now I too feel pretty bad. I want to say TT will help, but Vinny is still the coach and they have beef with each other. Screw it, I’m out!

Viva la D'Antoni, Ben Gordon and Dejuan Blair!!!

On the bright side, if they fire VDN, this team is not near as good as the one from two years ago, and they will undoubtedly finish w/ fewer than 30 wins, giving them a good chance to get a good player (on a rookie contract) to fill one of the voids they created at SG or PF w/ a half-decent replacement. But damn, they have a lot of making up to do after beating San Antone and Cleveland.

And with a good coach... Agreed.

I would have drafted Budinger (maybe) and hoped he was good enough to replace Salmons, and trade him at some point for an expiring contract.

yeah, even if Hinrich, Salmons and Miller were starting off this poorly, that would have been somewhat mitigated by Gordon’s hot start. On the bright side, I just hope this spells the end of the Taj-Gibson-gets-more-minutes-than-Tyrus-Thomas-experiment. Please, I hope so.

If anything, I hope this horrid run of basketball

(with Taj a big part of that awfulness) has shown management how important Thomas really is to this team. Because, seriously, we are fucking terrible without him out there blocking shots and getting to the free throw line on the offensive end. I don’t know how much more of these guys I can watch without him out there.

Best Case Scenario is that the Bulls absolutely tank and get a top 5 pick

They fire VDN, move everything they can but Noah and Rose and essentially start over. Of course, the awful Gar Paxdorf management team is still in place, which limits any real hope.

Still I’d rather see a sell-off and a high draft pick than the half-assed plan they have right now — have enough space to offer a non-max contract to someone like Joe Johnson, get turned down and then sign some stiff and pretend it makes the team better.

by hitlesswonder on Nov 27, 2009 10:48 AM CST up reply actions

why is that best case scenario?

every1 and their grandmother knows they would just fuck that pick up 2…no matter who they got, it would be the wrong guy. He would be right for the other 30 teams, just not for the shitty coached and managed bulls.

Best-case Scenario is they get a Top-5 pick and STILL convince Bosh or Wade or...

…someone awesome to come, and then trade that Top-5 pick to get another very, very good established player.

Aside from that, though, I would be pleased with getting Evan Turner and keeping Tyrus Thomas around (if they aren’t actually getting any good talent via free agency). If Rose and/or Thomas ever took that “next step”, I could see a team of Rose, Turner, Deng, Thomas and Noah (backed up by Asik, Blair Gibson, Johnson and Ty Lawson Chase Budinger Sherron Collins???) being a real threat in 2-4 years. That is, of course, if they would pay to keep everyone around and to get a good coach.

I guess the bright side of striking out on 2010 is the Bulls can resign Tyrus?

Wade, LeBron, Bosh.. those guys aren’t coming here. I think Atlanta and Miami look like the teams that give the 2010’s the best chance to win.

From the Trib:

Without their backup guard and sparkplug, the Bulls’ offense simply couldn’t keep up

Yeah, cause Kirk is the guy that has really made the offense go. Given analysis like that, maybe Chicago doesn’t deserve a better team.

As another poster commented, we missed his crop circles last night.

Bulls are a 10th seed in East based on talent and coaching

Even with a healthty roster (Kirk and Tyrus included)

"I tried being reasonable, I didn't like it."
"Go ahead, make my day"
"We boil at different degrees"
"A good man always knows his limitations"
"You've got to ask yourself one question: 'Do I feel lucky?' Well, do ya punk?"

I agree with most of what is being talked about here, but we have the same conversation every year during the circus trip.

Most likely we’ll win some of the easier games, particularly at home and stay around .500, they won’t axe Vinny, Tyrus will come back and look good enough for some to like him, but not good enough for us to love him, no trades will be made until close to the deadline, if ever and we’ll be stuck with another mediocre year.

Presently constructed is a outer fringe lottery team.

they thought they would get contributions from their play now rookies. Thats back fired. JJ looks out of shape and unsure.
Taj makes so many mistakes on both ends it makes me rub my forehead harder than Scott Skiles.

One thing is certain is how important and under valued Tyrus Thomas is. He makes his share of mistakes but his shot blocking ability makes teams have to think when they go in the paint. I hope there is some way they can bring him back or some other team is going to get a really great pick up next season.

It really sucks watching Gar Forman completely fuck this team up.

It’s to the point that even the players realize they don’t have enough to compete and win when the lead gets past 10 points. The players give up. I feel bad for Noah because he bust his ass and doesn’t quit even though this team is garbage.

They never did address the GM situation. They just tried to pull the wool over our eyes. Gar was the game guy who negotiated Luol Deng’s contract which is handcuffing the Bulls from bringing in better talent.

Now he’s put together this awful bench.

They never addressed the GM and as a result we’re losing our draft picks and years of competitive basketball because
Gar wants people on this roster who are nice guys and that probably kiss his ass and tell him he’s pretty.

You’re ugly Gar and so is this roster.

This is exactly how I view it ... and it's scary because I don't see any light possibly for years

“It’s to the point that even the players realize they don’t have enough to compete and win when the lead gets past 10 points. The players give up.”

Gordon was not only a scorer. but he was “mentally the toughest player on the team”

I’m not harping on Gordon leaving, but all of the excuses about playing defense, and a black hole on offensive ball movement ,etc was this stinkest pile of crap the organization was feeding us. And when wimps like Kirk and Luol started echoing this summer also this anti-Gordon offensive flow from management, it reveal to me fully how weak willed the two captains are. This team is in trouble for a long time baring a miracle trade.

Derrick is good, and needs time, but he’ll probably never bring the explosive scorer ability to his team. Every team needs a player (or two) who is mentally tough and explosive, this team is not only weak willed, but also boring.

I've visited this site roughly five times today

hoping to see the words “Vinny Del Negro is Fired” staring back at me from the top of the page. Quite frankly, I’m astounded it hasn’t happened yet, given the nature of his deal and the teams’ awful performance the last couple of weeks.

Just VDN? CLEAN HOUSE!

Fire Forman
Fire Paxson (again)
Fire Schanwald
Fire Neil Funk
Fire Swirsky
Fire Tommy Edwards

Sell the team to someone who cares about it.

Please JR go away!

First Bulls game I've missed in a long long time

Needless to say, I’m thankful for that being the only one.

As for Kurt, look at the bright side . . . Tyrus comes back really soon.

If there was a player like Byars or Lawson behind Kirk I could careless about him being injured but it's.. Pargo and Hunter.

That’s mind blowing to me. I’m to the point where I just wanna see Rose just shoot every time down the court. Don’t even pass. just work on your three point shooting and throw Noah a bone now and then.

The only good thing anyone could say about VDN

was that the team played hard for him. Looks like even that’s no longer the case. Time to kick this used car salesman to the curb and hire a real coach.

I'd rather they were the Nets, their future is brighter

2 good young guys in Lopez and Harris, a top draft pick and tons of cap space for 2010. They have a chance to have a great team. The Bulls look locked in mediocrity due to their contract situation, lack of any transcendent talent, and a management team that is poor at evaluating talent and abysmal at planning. Despite the Bulls non-dismal record, the set of franchises that are more screwed up than the Bulls is pretty small. Minnesota, definitely. I think NO as well. Probably PHI, Memphis and GS. Maybe a couple of others, but really not that many.

I would take...

Rose-Deng-Noah over Lopez-Harris in a second. Never mind that no good player is going to that terrible team.

What really sucks more than another blow out loss is that

we have to watch Lindsey old ass Hunter and Pargo during the garbage time. Other teams at least get to see some of their young players play and develop during garbage time, but even the Bull’s garbage time lineup sucks

How about watching Aaron "Molasses" Gray

play significant minutes in the first and second quarter?

yeah that what I thought really killed this game

Why the hell VDN let Aaron Gray start the second q. I don’t know exactly the number, when Gray was on the floor in the second quarter, that’s when the Jazz built on their lead to where it’s a blow out
