[...I got nothin'. So here's a fanshot that at least is humorous, since laughing makes the Bulls fatigue go away. Why couldn't our average team have the fun offense and crappy defense, instead of vice versa? -ed.]

Does John realize that the hoop is a real object that one can actually travel to? Because I have a hunch contested, off-balance, fade away jumpers don't constitute as attacking the rim.

John Salmons sucks. Fuck John Salmons.

1. Cut a hole in a box
2. Put your Kirk in that box

That's why I thought he was hurt

On contact he’s not getting nearly any lift at the rim. If he’s had an open lane to the rim he’s been able to finish with a dunk.

he does get some kind of pull nearly every year

so it wouldn’t be a shock. But nothing’s been reported.

He missed two months of the offseason resting his groin

He missed the London preseason game, then another game 10 days later to be with his pregnant wife. Maybe now that he’s a father, he’s mellowed? I’m kidding. But offseason conditioning might be an issue, and having other things on his mind during preseason couldn’t have helped. He’s also went from great to terrible for no reason before (‘08 Kings), so there’s that possibility too.

I'm not so sure anymore. That's how bad Salmons has been.

he's better than Hughes.

Anything is better than Larry Hughes.

I’d rather start Aaron Gray at sg than deal with that nightmare again.

Marbury? Bum Wallace?

Anything is better than Larry Hughes.

why is everyone upset at Salmons?

He’s not part of this teams plans after this season.

No

even when he was bad, I don’t think he was this bad.

I guess I'd be more concerned if Salmons was part of the Bulls long term plans.

He’s not so.. I don’t get that upset. It’s like when Brad Miller comes in and plays bad. He’s just here for his contract.

Be concerned because if he keeps playing this bad, he’s sure to opt-in which totally ruins any chance of getting a good FA. So you really should be more concerned…

I think he'll come around.

Right

we need Salmons to have a good year for two reasons:

a.) It helps us make the playoffs and therefore we’re more attractive to a potential FA.

b.) If he plays well he opts out for his last big deal; if he plays poorly (which he is), he will opt in to the final year of the current deal — effectively killing our chances at a 2010 FA. Our option at that point would be to sign some mid-level guy (like David Lee or something) and try to trade Deng during the 2009-2010 season for an expiring so we could make a run at Carmelo in 2011 (I guess not that bad of an option, but should we really have to wait another year?).

Weird that the Bulls are 6-6

with Salmons, Rose, Brad, Kirk, Taj, Pargo all playing like reserves. This team could end up being pretty good.

I think Rose has been as bad as Salmons

It seems to me that people routinely underestimate just how awful Rose’s defense is. Look at what Billups did to him — it was ridiculous. I’ll admit that I don’t have advanced stats to back this up, but I think Rose has been a huge liability on defense and hasn’t come close to making up for it on the offensive end. I’ll be happy to be convinced otherwise if someone can do it.

Except for Mo Wlliams in the CLE game,I can’t think of a single opposing point guard I thought he really outplayed. For heaven’s sake, even Beno Udrih played Rose pretty much even.

Derek Fisher got the better of him.

That’s when you worry.

I support the Tornado Release ... and Young Bucks.

Defense

So, is that how you all rate defense because didn’t Rose outscore both of those players?

by k21c on Nov 23, 2009 5:04 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

In garbage time.

I watched the Lakers game, and Fisher hit multiple threes over Rose, while Rose wasn’t getting anything going and we were getting blown out.

I support the Tornado Release ... and Young Bucks.

Rose v. Salmons

Rose has a PER of 14.7, Salmons has a PER of 10.

Rose has a TS% of .494, Salmons .437.

Rose has a TRB% of 4.9 and a Ast % of 28.8. Salmons, TRB% of 5.6 and Ast% of 10.8

Salmons has an ORTG of 90, Rose has an ORTG of 97.

By ever measure, Rose is playing considerably better than John Salmons.

by Basketball Smurf on Nov 23, 2009 5:08 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

At this point, Salmons is just as bad as Hughes. Even Hughes had more good games than Salmons is having. Honestly out of like 12 games, Salmons has had two decent games and 10 bad to shitty ones.

I don’t like Hollinger, but his FLUKE RULE is being proven.

And Salmons is going to take the option so we are screwed unless we can somehow unload which we should really be trying hard to do.

by C Smoove on Nov 23, 2009 3:46 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

And his defense?

We’re not a scoring team. We’re going to win with defense and sound offensive strategy that minimizes turnovers, puts as at the line, and hopefully we make them especially on the road.

Salmons defense looks about where he was under Larry Brown with the Sixers. This is the type of basketball we are expected to play all year.
