Tracy McGrady Reportedly Upset with Rick Adelman
Can McGrady and his big expiring contract still score in the league?
The Rockets will throw in Chase Budinger won't they?

It would probably take Hinrich, Salmons, and Jerome James's expiring deal.
I doubt they’d throw Budinger in and the Bulls might balk at taking on his extra salary as it would put them in the luxury tax.
I would definitely dump Kirk, Salmons, and James for the guaranteed expiring McGrady would provide, because 2010 is all that matters and if they can guarantee themselves max cap space for sure and take a flyer on a former superstar for a half a year… I mean they have to try it right?

He's contract is a huge bargaining chip for Houston
I think they can get a lot more than Hinrich and Salmons for that expiring contract alone.
he's like Houston's version of Brad Miller, Jerome James and Tyrus Thomas, John salmons.
I can understand why they might wanna kinda keep that chip.
I still think 2010 is a non-starter if they're a crappy team.
which they very much could be with the usual McGrady post-injury routine.

I tend to think this deal would have to wait until February so we can see how healthy he looks
Alternatively, if we could work out a deal that included Lowry (expiring Kirk replacement) and Buddinger (cheap injured TMac fill in) I’d be willing to add more from the Bulls side and I might just bite the bullet and do it sooner.
Like
Bulls send Kirk, Salmons, JJ (the Rookie) and JJ (the Injured)
Rockets send TMac, Lowry, Buddinger
1- Rose, Lowry
2- TMac, Buddinger, Pargo
3- Deng
4- Tyrus, Taj
5- Noah, Miller
Why would the Rockets do this though?
I don’t see a single reason why they’d do this deal outside of dumping McGrady for team chemistry purposes. Plus, it seems they’re very high on both Lowry and Budinger.
Um... err... I got nothing.
But let me make the attempt. I think the logic is TMac is a sunk cost because there’s no way they’re going to be able to keep him on the shelf and collect that insurance payout the whole season.
So they’re going to have to pay TMac and he’s a net negative. If you think of valuing the trade as a math problem, he’s a negative number.
Now, it’s true the rockets value Lowry and Buddinger, but I suppose they’d also value Kirk and Salmons to some extent. They’re both useful players who would help the Rockets, no?
So is Kirk > Lowry? Probably.
Is Salmons > Buddinger? I dunno.
Is JJ (80% covered by insurance) better than paying $6M to TMac? Definitely.
Is young JJ a potential positive? Probably.
So the trade is good if the sum of
Kirk + Salmons + JJ (rookie) + JJ (contract payout) + Being rid of TMac – Lowry – Buddinger is greater than zero.
(, +, +, +,,-,-)
if the Bulls had more quality depth, I'd be right there with you
but that trade means 25-30 minutes nightly for Pargo. And if that happens, and McGrady isn’t fully healthy, we are looking at a 30 win team.

Meh
The salary dumps are incredible though and there’s no chance Budinger is thrown in but I need tyger on board.

Which is what makes the Bulls refusal to sign capable end of the bench talent
so totally inexcusable. Signing Gray, Pargo, and especially Hunter has completely fucked this team’s ability to make moves that would be really helpful down the line.
God damn it GarPax.

What about Dorf?
You’re not letting him off the hook are you?

well, no. but even within the confines that Dorf sets, GarPax could've been smarter
and gotten people that actually, you know, play.

How about...
Miller, James and Salmons for McGrady and Landry?
Why isn't your friendly Bulls Blogger friendly?
Landry? You'll have to give a lot more than Brad Miller and a 1-season wonder for one of Houston's most affordable/productive players.

I rather do the boozer deal with utah
Salmons is playing better so his trade value goes up, Tyrus thomas wont be here no more, and jerome james is nothing but a walking contract (wait…is he walking?) for boozer, korver, and that crappy center they have…whats his name Fresno? The bulls get a solid 3 pt shooter, and a once allstar on the brink of his career (much like mcgrady)….the best part about it is, if the trade sucks (boozer sucks) we are really not that much worse off (okay maybe a little, but not too much) while any trade for mcgrady leaves us really in shambles if he ends up going down (and i think he will go down)
On Behalf of Sue, Wjb, majoyenrac, Bullshooter and all the other Hinrich fans...Ill keep the Hinrich Hope coming...There will be light!
They aren't going to trade Boozer unless they get cap savings, which we can't provide.

That trade
saves them some money this year, while giving them two expiring contracts (if they dont want tyrus) and a backup sg who possibly may opt out….I dont think utah really is in for any 2010 plan, plus they have the new york pick which im not asking for in this trade….Plus if we do this now, they can drop tyrus off at the deadline, or perhaps 3 team the tyrus deal…surely someone is in need of a pf like tyrus…im sure if they wanted the could pass salmons along as well…but i think they wouldnt mind keeping him….
i cant post the trade for some reason so ill just write it out
bulls: Boozer, Korver, Fesenko
caproom:-11,980,646
payroll:69,680,646
aquiring 3 players:18,357,536
Jazz: Jerome James, John Salmons, Tyrus Thomas
Caproom: -33,385,677
Payroll:91,085,677
Aquiring 3 players: 17,772,748

The most reasonable deal would involve Brad Miller,
because it both keeps the 2010 dream alive for Houston, and provides them the center they need while Yao recuperates. Here’s what I propose:
Hinrich, Miller and Jerome James for TMac, Lowery and Brian Cook.
Why it works for Houston:
1. Gives them a center for a year, better than anyone they have.
2. Upgrades both their SG and back-up point guard spots
3. Doesn’t cap them out for next year, allowing them to pursue Bosh with a s/t involving Scola, if they so choose.
Why it works for us:
1. Rids us of Kirk’s contract while providing a viable back up
2. Gives us, potentially, a primary scoring threat in TMac – and if he isn’t, we still have Johnny Fish.
3. May give us a three-point shooting four, which would be an excellent complement to Derrick.
Rotations-
Brooks Kirk
Kirk Budinger
Ariza Battier
Scola Landry
Miller Hayes
Rose Landry
McGrady Salmons
Deng Salmons
Thomas Deng
Noah Gibson
The first issue with this team, IMO, is the lack of depth at center. However, Joakim’s become a 38mpg player, and I’m certain Gibson can pick up those 10 minutes without egregiously screwing up. Additionally, I just like the potential of Tmac, who will be playing balls out in a contract year. if that team gels, they could go a long way into the playoffs, while improving our cap flexibility for next season.
And true, Salmons hates coming off the bench. But if that makes him opt out of his contract…

Plus, Aaron Gray is returning and he's okay for a few minutes when Joakim is tired.

I like this trade
It has the potential to make the Bulls better without screwing up 2010. I also think Lowry is a pretty good back up point guard, but too small to play with Brooks on most nights.
