Thomas Likes Playing SF More Than PF
"Actually, I like playing (small forward) because I get to move around more," Thomas said. "It gives me more freedom instead of being confined to that paint area. I get to be more active on defense. It allows me to see more.

that’s a little concerning considering that most Bulls fans expect him to be a PF. Whatever, chances are he won’t be here next year.

It seemed to me to be a throw away quote.
Tyrus just wants to play. He isn’t going to say he doesn’t like it is he?

I understand where you're coming from
But what I got from the quote is that he likes playing SF more than PF. He certainly plays like it at times with his erratic jump shots. He states that he feels to confined in the paint when he plays PF is what I get from the quote, who knows.

I like him at the 3 also.
But 71 million is there.

He gone...
It came on the heels of Thomas, according to team sources, taking exception to coach Vinny Del Negro harping on him for failing to rotate defensively. And it followed Thomas again falling out of the fourth-quarter rotation.

damn seriously wtf is going on with this team?
Why does Vinny have to bench him.. thats like high school stuff. 3 games in and there is already internal conflict. Tyrus is Vinny’s whipping boy again? Part of me is rooting for the Bulls to lose this season so we can get in a real NBA coach in here with OFFENSIVE PLAYS!

Almost all of me is hoping the Bulls
struggle so Vinny gets canned. One step backwards, two steps forwards……..

I really don't, to be honest
I don’t think any in-house replacement gets this team to the playoffs. and they need to make the playoffs. Just fire Vinny in the offseason, I’m sure many enterprising writers will say how he got a raw deal, and some other team will give him a shot. Nice for the Bulls to give him a training ground.

Lyndsey had to talk to Tyrus in front of the players and coaches!!!!!
Tyrus must have ripped Vinny pretty good lol! Tyrus is a beast, and I would like to be the first to say when Carmelo didn’t get run in the first Olympic games he was pissed and it made him even better, when Arenas didn’t get run he went on his drop 50 tour where he wanted to destroy every coach and there respective team who left him off the Olympic team and put 50 points on them. Similarly TT will use this and become a much better player. It won’t help him stay in Chicago and right now I think he may not want to stay, but he’ll prove his naysayers wrong over this!

Doubtful
Tyrus has had enought benchings for a career. Why would he start taking it out on anyone now?
by Stay Chisel on Nov 4, 2009 2:27 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
Honestly
what rotation did Tyrus miss? Vinny is bonkers. He’s watching a different game than we are.
Brad Miller is dragging his feet on defense, missing rebounds and shooting 3 pointers, but Tyrus allegedly misses a rotation and he’s benched?
Vinny is horrible.

What about rebounding in the 4th quarter
or the fact our short ball isn’t hitting shots in the 4th and definitely not from the 3pt line. So what is the advantage going small? Wishful thinking? Deng got abused at PF in the 4th quarter against Miami. Our small ball isn’t spreading the floor out until they prove to the other team they can hit 3s and they haven’t done that yet so that kills our inside game. We pretty much make ourselves impotent defensively and offensively going small. Oh well. That’s Bulls basketball for you. No one holds the other guys to the standards Tyrus is or else Salmons would have been benched (and Rose) and Taj would be getting 10 minutes if that. Pargo wouldn’t play at all. Only Tyrus gets creative punishment. It seems to me like we played our best in both games we lost early on when Tyrus was out there. The C’s game spun out of control fast, but we were staying in the game with Miami until Vinny started his dissertation on Tyrus. Noah and Tyrus with Miller rotating in for short stints works. Why go away from that in the 4th if it is working?

Vinny is stupid
The Bulls got killed on the glass in the 2nd quarter too. This was with Miller and Taj in the front court. That’s when they lost the game in my view. The team should have been trying to pile on the pain in the first half to force the Heat to become Wade spectators as he tried to get them back in the game.
We’re not good enough to win unless our best five man units and best matchup units are way better than our opponents. Our bench has to be better than everyone else’s bench. If it’s not we are going to lose.

Why is it all the players I have liked in this organization are either playing
for other teams or on their way out the door. Yet the players I dislike the most are making shit tons of money and hand cuffing the Bulls? Shannon Brown, BG now Tyrus.

Shannon Brown was never a Bull. He was drafted by the Bobcats and traded to the Fakers.

Vinny wishes he still give Big Shot Larry and Drew Gooden 32 minutes of BURN
by QUINTEN DALEY on Nov 3, 2009 11:21 AM CST up reply actions 0 recs
Well
Yeah Gooden’s a bad fit as the premier PF of your team (which he was for us), but if he gets healthy, those Mavs will be impossible with him as the 6th option….allowing him to have his one of every 4 games of amazing play and they don’t need him much in the other 3 games where he’ll fall asleep…..with Dirk, Marion, Kidd, Terry, Howard…..that team is ridiculous.

TT objects to being the scapegoat for failing to rotate defensively although he is the primary reason for the Bulls 4th quarter collapses.
Those 92 seconds he’s logged have sunk the Bulls in the fourth quarter through three games, especially with the negative vibes he sends out to Vinny’s brain while likely pouting during those 34 1/2 minutes he’s accumulating splinters while riding the pines.
“We were just spreading them out and getting good looks with the high pick-and-roll and the side pick-and-roll,” Del Negro said. “Lu was shooting pretty well, so we picked and popped him a little. With Kirk (Hinrich) out there defensively, we were a little better and had some offensive people out there as well.”
As they say, the proof is in the pudding and apparently VDN stuck in his thumb and pulled out another plum (although some contend it resembled a large turd) as evidenced by Miami outscoring the Bulls 26 (their highest production) to 17 (Bulls lowest) despite their crisp rotations now that Thomas was off the court. On a positive note the Bulls gathered 8 rebounds to only 12 for the Heat, in spite of playing with a small lineup.
You’ve got to hand it to our coach. When he gets a bug up his butt, neither hell or high water is going to make him re-evaluate his pathetic decisions. Like Napoleon, I envision he too will someday meet his Waterloo, and not a moment too soon for many suffering Bulls fans. If only Tyrus can be like Taj who always does the right thing, but gets the wrong results anyway, but at least he keeps Vinny’s blood pressure in check and is someone who can be trusted, which is an important trait to someone who is justifiably paranoid.

If you're going to bring someone in from 2010 VDN can't be here.
You have to start from scratch. IMO This guy is just like a stepping stone coach. He can’t be in the future and I think the Bulls have put in position to fail this season.. purposely.

the crews have talked up Vinny as a better coach. It should be interesting what they say on Thursday against the Cavs.

I strongly object to your characterization of Vinny just being a stepping stone.
In my opinion, he is a milstone around the Bulls collective necks.

he knows Vinny likes playing small down the stretch, so he’s claiming he’s a SF. Nice work, Ty!

Good for him.
He said that before the draft even. The Bulls drafted someone to play PF who is determined to be a SF. And we wonder why they’re at odds.

Yep.
On a side note, I like KC’s sarcastic description of chewing a guy out in front of his teammates and coaches as “behind the scenes”
As Bulls practice ended Monday, veteran Lindsey Hunter stepped up and directed some pointed advice toward Tyrus Thomas in front of all his teammates and coaches.
It’s the kind of behind-the-scenes leadership that occurs countless times throughout an NBA season

They showed the video on comcast sports. I could read Lindsey’s lips he said we need you to Tyrus or something.

follow-up
What’s also a fact is that one of the team captains, Lindsey Hunter, at the end of Monday’s practice got the team together and instructed his teammates to listen to Del Negro. It sure looked like Hunter’s directive was aimed at Thomas. Normally the media is not able to hear what the banter is between the team when they gather at the end of practice but on this day the voices were all raised an octave and it was hard not to notice.

Maybe Tyrus
Is positioning himself for a Boozer for Thomas swap:
Dwill-Brewer-Thomas/AK47-Millsap-Okur and Korver, etc looks scary good, plus they’ll maybe get a draft pick from Chicago and another player….in the mix…
God I hate that the Bulls have wasted 3 years of T2 development to not develop him…..he will break out, he has the entire range of skills…
