It's sad that all we've got as Bulls fans is pointing to a bygone era
to mock the game’s current greatest player, just because our guy happened to be the best ever.
Mike is the GOAT, but he doesn’t play for us anymore. LeBron is the CBPOP (current best player on the planet) and all we’ve got is memories of a bygone era and the hope that Rose might someday be halfway close to as good as LeBron.
It’s pathetic that a team in this big a market, with this much history, has been reduced to this. You don’t see the Lakers pulling this crap. The Celtics aren’t pulling this crap either (though they had a longer stay in the basketball wilderness than the Lakers ever did). I blame Reinsdouche.

It was a Bulls fan. The point is that all Bulls fans have anymore is memories of MJ, and that sucks.

eh
even after the bulls start winning those memories and these stories will exist…although it does suck that we have nothing to show for since that era, it also doesnt mean we should let go of the past…to herald lebron as some of kind of second coming is dumb, to consider him the greatest ever is even worse, and not just bulls fans but anyone who has had a chance to witness jordan will always throw the concept that lebron is nothing compared to jordan. Its with all athletes in all sports, as you get better you start getting compared more and more to people who have held your spot, lebron is getting to the point where the only one he can be compared to is jordan.
Jordan went through the same thing being compared to magic and larry and julius erving. I think what really upsets you isnt so much the constant talk about michael jordan, but the fact that as bulls fans all we have to show in terms of basketball is jordan and the 90’s bulls, and eventually it becomes a question of how long are we gonna keep riding that scooter, as a bulls fan you just want to have another pony, its easier to talk about jordan after you have another dynasty in place…
As for celtics never talking about the old championships, they do, they did when they sucked as a team, they did when the celtics were winning the ship two years ago, its just now they (boston media) can talk about current events in the nba knowing they are in the top, plus alot of time has passed since hten. A decade is not enough to make the works of jordan dissapear…
its fine if you dont like these sort of things, but i dont think its in anyway wrong to compare lebron to jordan or just relish those memories…

The thing is... I love this crap. Love it. But I'm sick of it being the only thing I can
latch onto as a Bulls fan. I want some on court success. I’m tired of “rebuilding.” Every year that carrot is dangled. Next year will be the year that we really make a push. But you know what? Next year isn’t coming. The Bulls will strike out in FA this summer, and then we’ll hear about how 2011 is when Durant will be available, and THEN the Bulls will get him and THEN they will contend, and it will be just as much b.s. then as it is now. The Bulls won’t be contenders until J.R. sells the team, because he’s a cheap asshole who won’t pay for the talent needed to win in today’s NBA, and because the basketball people he’s hired (and loves like sons, I’m looking at you Pax) suck at talent evaluation.
I really hate following this team sometimes.

yea i feel you
i dont know if you read my post in the brandon jennings is the real deal thread, but thats my fear with rose, although im trying to keep hope going, but what if rose is just an average good pg?? What we as bulls fans are hoping is that rose comes out (eventually even if its not this year or next) as a perennial all star, a 1st tier pg (whatever that really means) or at the least at the top of the second tier (again…whatever that means) because that means that all these years of waiting and sneaking into playoffs will actually account for something, theres a logical truth that no bulls fan wants to face, and those that do face try to erase from their minds…its like thinking about what happens after you die, you have the thought and you get really scared and really sad, and instead of trying to come terms with it (i mean how do you do that) you just try to erase the thought from your mind….
ughh…now im down about the bulls future….

This team is frustrating as hell to pull for. I’m CHI til I die so they’re my squad forever. It gets more and more obvious that we have no intention of even trying to build a championship squad. It’s good enough to squeak into the playoffs every year as a 6th to 8th seed and get bounced. That way we still look competitive. We need a real owner.
and a real coach
and a real shooting guard
and a real playbook
and some real fans at the games

those things all happen only after a change in ownership. regime change now!

sorry...
for forcing everyone to think about the sorry state of the bulls in the last decade or so. i agree that i want something more to talk about than just MJ and co. from the ‘90s. on the other hand, i’m a totally unapologetic MJ obsessive, so anything reminding idiot kids these days about the REAL greatest of all time makes me happy. at the same time, i love lebron. he’s amazing to watch and i’ll root for him to win. it’s kobe i hate.
no reason to hate either Kobe or LeBron, both are tremendous competitors. LeBron is better, but Kobe
works harder.
