rose has missed at least 4 layups

and his jumps on his shots have been real awkward. He just looks terrible.

No

His 2nd quarter is the best he’s looked in a long time. I don’t think Rose is a particularly good player and even I can see that. He missed on his drives, but I think those will fall or he’ll get calls if he keeps going in there.

Gotcha

Never mind that Rose isn’t performing any better than Hinrich this game, but you have no problem with criticizing him.

by Yibs on Nov 19, 2009 11:03 PM CST up reply actions

I'd say 2-11

is playing like poop. You asked why there was negativity about Rose, it’s because he’s playing badly this game. It’s great that he’s going to the hoop, but you have to actually make those layups when you get there.

Noah and Salmons are the only Bulls players who showed up this game, and to a lesser extent Brad (defense and rebounding has been bad).

by runningman on Nov 19, 2009 11:05 PM CST up reply actions

Making layups against Bynum and Gasol

Is alot harder than what Hinrich has to do. We give Rose the benefit of the doubt because he’s injured, and he’s finally starting to come around.

by Stacey_Is_King on Nov 19, 2009 11:06 PM CST up reply actions

I was talking about more relative to his recent play

but if you’re really hung up on this, you win. I’m wrong, He’s playing horribly and Hinrich is Christ reincarnate

by Ozzie Montana on Nov 19, 2009 11:04 PM CST up reply actions

Huh?

If everyone stays home, no one has to jump out to defend the open man nailing the 3pt shot. We complained about this all last year when everyone said that Rose could take over when BG is gone. You’re just seeing the results

by Dils on Nov 19, 2009 11:05 PM CST up reply actions

also, arent derrick and salmons frequently setting up on opposite

sides of the court? so the problem derrick has is opposing sgs running across the court away from salmons to clog the lane?

"What is going on up here?"
"I never know, man."

by TheMoon on Nov 19, 2009 11:08 PM CST up reply actions

When Rose penetrates

he dishes the ball to Salmons. If Salmons’ defender doesn’t respect his outside shot, he’ll just leave him and stay with Rose and clog the lane

by Dils on Nov 19, 2009 11:10 PM CST up reply actions

yeah but hes usually dishing laterally or behind him,

so how are these sgs clogging the lane in front of rose?

"What is going on up here?"
"I never know, man."

by TheMoon on Nov 19, 2009 11:11 PM CST up reply actions

Because the lanes are clogged

It’s pretty simple. BG demanded a double team. Last year those lanes were open. This year, everyone stays home on their man. So it doesn’t matter if Rose beats his man. He’s not going to be able to get the rim.

by Dils on Nov 19, 2009 11:03 PM CST up reply actions

It's more than BG

Teams know we’re almost no threat to shoot three pointers effectively. We have the looks we just constantly pass on taking the shots either because it’s Hinrich receiving and he’s not a good decision maker or it is Deng and he’s not a 3pt threat.

Derrick is creating the same penetration opportunities as last year.

12/31: Fire Vinny Del Negro.

by NBA Observer on Nov 19, 2009 11:05 PM CST up reply actions

Right but look

No one has to double team Kirk Hinrich…Ever. Nor Deng… Ever. That’s why Rose was able to operate better last year. BG demanded a double team. So it has a lot to do with the absence of BG

by Dils on Nov 19, 2009 11:07 PM CST up reply actions

i rwally dont think bg was doubled that often with rose on the court.

maybe with hinrich, but not rose.

"What is going on up here?"

Deng and Hinrich, $20 million dollars, 4 pts in the first half. GET THE FUCK OFF MY TEAM.

by Trey23 on Nov 19, 2009 10:59 PM CST reply actions

He’s been OK. Far from great. Explain the 4 pts against the Champs?

by Trey23 on Nov 19, 2009 11:02 PM CST up reply actions

Explain why he's leading the Bulls

in scoring. Explain why he’s top 15 in the league in rebounding, 15 spots ahead of the 2nd best rebounding SF.

Never mind that, it’s the one half of one game against the champs that’s important.

by runningman on Nov 19, 2009 11:08 PM CST up reply actions

Actually, I think he has been great...

4 points is one game doesn’t immediately cancel out all the other work you’ve put in earlier in the season. Not to mention, he’s not really getting the ball.

My theory: Salmons is *fingers crossed*

Salmons is fingers crossed in the process of breaking out of his slump.

Next will be Hinrich. Then Rose.

Seems to happen every year (BG has had tough starts, same with others). They’ll all figure it out sooner or later.

by Diz on Nov 19, 2009 11:00 PM CST reply actions

Hey, Kirk hasn't missed a shot tonight....

It’s the new plan – instead of shooting poorly, he just isn’t going to shoot at all. ;)

Just waiting on some offense....

by wjb1492 on Nov 19, 2009 11:01 PM CST up reply actions

I've also noticed that Hinrich has stopped shooting.

It’ s like his solution for shooting poorly from 3 point range, was to just stop shooting them.

This began about 2 games ago.

by runningman on Nov 19, 2009 11:09 PM CST up reply actions

He's on Dadcation!

The trip is probably a good breather for him. He should have more FTA tonight. He’s been fouled.

If this was the old west, these officials would be strung up for highway robbery.

I’ve replayed the offensive foul called on Salmons with the score 40-33 in 1/15th stop action 3 times and cannot in any way, shape or form see how these blind zebras could call a foul. Meanwhile, Noah gets ticky tack calls against him and the Bulls get mugged driving the lane as the refs swallow their whistles. I hope they choke on them.

Maybe it’s all on Derrick, but I think a different coach might actually run an offense that keeps the ball in Rose’s hands. Or would tell Rose to keep the ball.

I heard another statistical measure between the two tonight. Kobe scored 40 for the 100th time in his career the other night joining Wilt and MJ as the only players to do so. For comparison sake Jordan scored 40 173 times in the regular season and 38 times in the postseason for a total of 211 40 pt games…in 13 seasons as a Bull and 2 as an old Washington Wizard.

the bulls are heading in to a real tough stretch

so it was nice to see Rose play better. Hope he keeps trending up. Other than that, not much to say. The Lakers are much better than the Bulls. Longer, deeper, more athletic and more experienced. This is a bad matchup all around.

I'm concerned big time about the Bulls offensively.

The Bulls have one 100 pt game and no games where they’ve reached the upper 90s. This trend is very bothersome. Even some of the so-called better games the Bulls have played haven’t been very explosive…and I thought VDN wanted to put an emphasis on offense this season.

The departure of Gordon has affected Rose to this point.

This team is SORELY lacking the consistent deep threat that Gordon provided. Also, there were times when Gordon had to be double teamed. This keeps Rose from having the operating room he had before. It was good to see him be more aggressive today and I think he’ll make the adjustment. But Hinrich and Salmons had better pick up their outside shooting so that the defense can pay more attention to them and less attention to Rose’s drives.

Hard to make up that 20pg

Fish and BG consistently got there’s down the stretch last year at the 3 and 2 spot. Fish and Deng are so incompatible, you’re rarely going to see both of them produce in the same game. Deng is much better suited to a motion offense, while Fish is better suited to a dribble drive.

That means, the only way to make up the scoring is if Rose is significantly higher than the 16pg he got last year.

Positives

I knew this would be a blowout, but it’s nice to Derrick build some confidence, and it’s good to see Vinny let JJ get some extended minutes. He even put him on Kobe. He did not dissapoint.

Never die easy. Why run out of bounds and die easy? Make that Linebacker pay. It carries into all facets of your life. It's okay to lose, to die, but don't die without trying, without giving it your best.- Walter Payton

Huh?

"Then you need a center so if the ball gets stuck between the rim and backboard he can reach up and knock it loose instead of having to spend 15 minutes trying to hit it with a broom stick." – Sam Smith

Noah just keeps getting better.

15 rebounds, 4 steals, 4 assists, 2 blocks and 12 points.

He’s now our unofficial resident stud.

Possibly the first Bulls All-Star since MJ????

Noah is quickly becoming a big-time performer up front.

too many turnovers

but in line with his assists and he is maybe the only center who brings the ball up the floor.

What a horrible game experience that was...I WANT MY MONEY BACK JERRY, DOUCHEBAG!!!

I just got home from that embarassment in staples. The only thing I expected was for them to compete, no blowout. Too much to ask for huh jerry, you piece of shit. Yea you, reinsdorf, why cant put up some of your millions to get a better lineup, asshole…Look, I know it was going to be a tough game, but wheres the consistency? When deng plays good, salmons rose and hinrich disappear, when salmons miller and noah play good, hinrich gibson and deng disappear???? NO CONSISTENCY….what the fuck is wrong with you guys…Like barkley said at halftime, this team is incomplete….Who are we kidding, we are so far away from contention its not even funny.

worse in person huh?

If they don’t land a 2010 I might just give up on this franchise.

as much as i hate the thought of that

I must agree with you. I mean seriously, if there is no move, no trade for a legit star, no plan to move players to get one of the Big FA, there is no reason to continue to have hope for this team. There is no flow to their game, you see them and at one point there are all just standing around, no movement, no flow. It really was uglier in person than seeing it on tv. OMG, i was ashamed to be a fan. And like i said, i know the lakers are much better, but the bulls did their signature move of making real bad decisions, missing open shots and layups, and then digging a hole for themselves that they have no fire power to even try to get out of. Very frustrating, very disappointing……
