Around SBN: Knicks Beat Lakers With Familiar Strategy

One problem he has 5 years at 11 million I believe. The only player that would make sense to include in a trade for him is Luol Deng. Plus you'd take on more money and any other deal might step on the Bulls 2010 plan. But he might be on the market. I don't see the Bulls being interested. Looks like a fire sale soon for the Warriors? But just for shits and giggles what do you guys think of this deal?

Bulls get Ellis and Maggette Warriors get Hinrich and Deng.

http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine

It doesn't help the Bulls defensively but I think both Ellis and Maggette are pretty decent scorers. Your seven man rotation would probably be something like...

Rose
Salmons
Maggette
Tryus
Noah
Ellis
Taj

again this is just because I'm bored. I found some recent footage of him http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ILCxFbBDLn0

Wow. Great franchise.

I bet you could offer Tyrus Thomas and some spare change. Or Tyrus and Salmons if you’re really keen on getting him. That said, him and rose together would probably be a disaster, would be fiscally stupid given the 2010 plan, and would put us back into midget backcourt territory.

If there’s really a fire sale, let’s get Randolph!!!

by Diz on Nov 16, 2009 9:16 PM CST reply actions

With the trade exceptions

you can do Hinrich for Ellis straight up.

by Playboy_Bull on Nov 16, 2009 9:26 PM CST reply actions

Wouldn't the Bulls take on like 2 million though?

or is that what the exception is? Not sure how it works.

by SoulEater7 on Nov 16, 2009 9:34 PM CST up reply actions

True.

Just not sure if they’d want his contract.

by Diz on Nov 16, 2009 9:35 PM CST up reply actions

He's worth it on the right team.

With DRose theyd be an exciting pair. Would just be prepared to dump Salmons eventually and get a Raja Bell type player to come off the bench,

by Playboy_Bull on Nov 16, 2009 9:56 PM CST up reply actions

Only if Deng, Noah, or whoever's at PF learn how to shoot a consistent 3 ball

Otherwise, that’s 5/5 starters with no legit threat from behind the arch. That’s bad for business, especially when you consider Rose and Ellis thrive when the team can spread the floor and open up the driving lanes.

by Diz on Nov 16, 2009 10:19 PM CST up reply actions

You can't use trade exceptions combined with other players.

A trade exception has to be greater than or equal to a single player’s salary.

People should remember that while they have the right to their opinion, they are not entitled to be taken seriously. --Bruce Bartlett

dropped 26 on the Bucks.

I doubt he’s that good defensively but I might just take that giving the Bulls scoring woes. He’s averaging 19 per game.

by SoulEater7 on Nov 16, 2009 9:53 PM CST up reply actions

Totally agree.

Especially when framed in that light, Ellis isn’t the answer. Need someone who can shoot three pointers, and moves well without the ball.

by Diz on Nov 16, 2009 10:20 PM CST up reply actions

you shouldn't compare him to BG.

It would be comparing him to Hinrich. I think it might be a slight up grade considering what this team lacks ( offense) to Kirk Hinrich. Of course i do know how he is defensively I’m sure it’s not too good considering he’s on the Warriors.

He rides scooters though

Or says he rides scooters when he busts his ankle playing pickup ball.

12/31: Fire Vinny Del Negro.

by NBA Observer on Nov 17, 2009 9:47 AM CST up reply actions

he takes 17 shots to get those 19 pts. and since hes shooting an unsustainable 60% from 3,

he might be even less efficient.

"What is going on up here?"
"I never know, man."

What if Deng's value is through the roof

Hurry because Deng is presently healthy. His stock is high. Trade him for everything you can get.

He said trade him for everything you can get,

not anything you can get.

i said i wouldnt part with deng for garbage. NBAOs comment seemed

like a contradiction of my statement, as if this crap (“anything”) was in fact “everything”.

"What is going on up here?"
"I never know, man."

It's no way the Bulls should take Ellis

You can get Iverson for cheaper who’s better, bottom line. Ellis is small, a good scorer, but not a great shooter, defender, play maker, he’s a shooting guard trying to play the point. I wouldn’t do it, especially if your trying to get a FA next year. This season is alread over unless TT comes back well and Vinny decides to actually let him play, but that;s not hapening. So forget this guy!

by Mr Rhythm on Nov 17, 2009 6:24 AM CST up reply actions

Do you realllly want another tiny guy who can't defend, shoot the 3 or get to the line?

He’s mediocre, he has no upside, he’s bad at riding motorcycles. All really really bad omens for the Bulls. Stay away.

it is

beautiful isnt it…the way it elegantly grazes the rim as it carefully kisses the backboard, and falls right into the gentle hands of the opposition….a wonderful exchange unmatched by any word or poetry….sigh…..

:comes back to reality:
or you could simply appreciate his defense, at the very least he gives the team keyword here something even if his offense is not there…its not perfect but its better than anything ellis would give, team wise of course (im sure ellis has a higher entertainment factor)

On Behalf of Sue, Wjb, majoyenrac, Bullshooter and all the other Hinrich fans...Ill keep the Hinrich Hope coming...There will be light!

He can be our new Jay Williams!

I support the Tornado Release ... and Young Bucks.

No thanks to Monta. Buike (sucks he got injured for the year), Morrow, and Wright are

the only players I’d really want from GSW. Maybe Anthony Randolph, but he seems like a headcase.

1. Cut a hole in a box
2. Put your Kirk in that box
3. Make some team open that box

by fundamentallysound on Nov 17, 2009 2:34 AM CST reply actions

yes, get Morrow

to stand in the corner and launch threes for 15 minutes a game. Seriously. He can take Pargo’s minutes and a couple of Salmons’s’ses’s. That would bump our 3P% like 10 points and probably help DRose get some spacing in the lane, as well as add to his assist total.

by kig on Nov 17, 2009 8:23 AM CST up reply actions

Trade Tyrus+Johnson for Wright+Morrow+Azabuike

It works on the trade machine

Jannero Pargo = Larry Hughes 2.0

I don't really like Monta Ellis

He only looks good after losing Gordon. I’d rather taxi on the runway waiting for other deals. I still think moving Deng will be better for the Bulls in the long run.

Too bad Kevin Martin can’t stay healthy. I’d love to trade Deng for Martin.

by NBA Observer on Nov 17, 2009 9:51 AM CST reply actions

the youtube video...

was exactly how rose should play…Rose is so much more explosive and athletic than Ellis but just needs to learn how to attack and get that killer mentality (i know its been argued to death though)

Everyone keeps talking about how Lindsey Hunter was brought in to mentor/coach Rose…well I think this is a terrible idea bc right now that is exactly who he plays like-wish we could have someone who was a 25 ppg scorer at some point come in and teach Rose how to control a team and look to get his…Rose will always be unselfish at heart but at some point someone needs to show him how to be a little selfish at times
