Around SBN: Explaining Jeremy Lin's Early, Surprising Success

Anybody who thinks Chris Paul is better than Derrick Rose doesn't know anything about basketball and only listens to what mainstream media tells them. Paul is nowhere near Oscar, Magic, Stockton, Nash, and Rose.

You are retarded. Chris Paul is the best PG in the game and its not close.

1. Cut a hole in a box
2. Put your Kirk in that box
3. Make some team open that box

ill see your chris duhon

and raise you brandon jennings…i hear hes the real deal….(not i dont think jennings is as good as rose much less chris paul…)

On Behalf of Sue, Wjb, majoyenrac, Bullshooter and all the other Hinrich fans...Ill keep the Hinrich Hope coming...There will be light!

I'll tell you what,

at least Jennings plays like he’s a legit player. What good is having all the skill/talent if the world if it’s not going to be put to use.

Metal sharpens metal.

And this guy right here understands and knows what leadership is all about: The coach, the hall of famer......... Dick Butka! George Ryan

bad bet. rose barely asserts himself on his own team. he likely wont on that stage.

was anyone surprised to hear during that usa select crap over the summer that rose killed it on the drills and wilted during the scrimmage? too many other players in these situations who behave like they know they are better than everyone else.

by TheMoon on Nov 12, 2009 4:17 PM CST up reply actions

That's exactly it.

It’s as if Rose doesn’t know just how effing good he is. That’s not only an indictment on Derrick, but on Vinny as well, as it’s his job to extract the best possible performance from his players, and he’s failed miserably with Derrick. Vinny sucks at X’s and O’s and doesn’t manage his players’ personalities well. So what’s he good at?

Metal sharpens metal.

I can't wait

til’ we get a coach who’s truly gonna unleash Derrick.

I am nobody, so this is what I am

by IamClassic on Nov 12, 2009 5:37 PM CST up reply actions

I bet

if we had D’antoni, or Derrick’s college coach Calipari…we’d see the beast in Derrick and probably be top 3 in the East.

by IamClassic on Nov 12, 2009 5:42 PM CST up reply actions

that may be true

But cp3 is the best in the league…and a shoe in for the hall of fame. Rose hasn’t even sniffed the all-star team.

i dont know about the wilted part

2k was basically gonna pick durant for the combine game thing, when they went to the usa camp to get durant to authorize it, the story goes they saw derrick rose playing a scrimage game in practice and they were so wowed that they decided they wanted rose instead of durant. I also remember interviews with dwight howard and brook lopez all wowed by how good rose really was….

I agree, Rose needs to attack and use his God given talent more often. We probably would be undefeated if that was the case.

I think Deron Williams is really close not sure whats going on with his team though. But still he plays amazing in the playoffs every year sometimes gets injuries during the season. But his 2nd year he did get his team to the conference finals.

I thought this would of been the year where they leveled off but Pauls jump shot looks better than Derons right now. (I’ll be amazed if he can keep it up too)

Thank you for posting this video!!

While I do think Paul is currently better, listen to what the man says in the damn video. He’s says it all right there! Rose has a bigger upside becuase he’s quicker, taller and stronger. Yeah of course Pual has a way better basketball IQ right now but that difference hopefully will level with time.

People on this board are getting ridiculous. Did anybody see what happened to Paul in the playoffs??? He got abused onn the defensive end Yes ABUSED. End of story. While his offensive skills will always be tops in the league, his defense will never get much better. He’s barely 6 feet with a thin build.

And believe me. I love CP3. Probably my favorite player thats not a bull. I think he is the coolest most down to earth player with a good head on shoulders, but come on he is not god.

by Bulls Mouthpiece on Nov 12, 2009 9:06 PM CST reply actions

if i recall correctly, the hornets usually had paul on jones during that series, so it was butler

who was mostly getting abused by billups.

also, you say "the playoffs" as if paul has only been in them once. actually hes been there twice,

and if you remember he massacred the mavericks and almost beat the spurs by himself.

by TheMoon on Nov 12, 2009 10:48 PM CST up reply actions

Well they did switch him on Billups later of course that didn’t work. I honestly think he would of went off either way he wanted that challenge but since the Hornets didn’t put him on Billups it raises some questions to me. (not just that they didn’t want him to be worn down by him)

by Camry on Nov 12, 2009 11:32 PM CST up reply actions

Good point

He did have a good run that playoffs, but the question still remains. Is he going to be a defensive liability from here on out? Teams will attack him in the playoffs and I just don’t see him being able to do anything about it. Except of course torching a team for 40 points, 15 assists, and 8 rebounds.

Anyway I feel bad for the man. Unless he gets traded he’s pretty much going to be stuck with a slightly below average team for the remaining time on his contract which I believe is atleast four or five more years. He has to be kicking himself for signing that extension. The Hornets have little incentive to improve their team in order to keep Paul around, he’s already locked in.

by Bulls Mouthpiece on Nov 13, 2009 12:07 PM CST up reply actions

Derrick’s size and build means nothing if his passing and court vision doesn’t improve. You know who else has a similar build and size to Rose…………….Stephon fkn Marbury. It’s about more than athleticism and size at the PG position.

Wasn't this posted to BaB months ago?

"Then you need a center so if the ball gets stuck between the rim and backboard he can reach up and knock it loose instead of having to spend 15 minutes trying to hit it with a broom stick." – Sam Smith
