Enjoying the energy.

Gross
The announcer just said he missed Pargo’s game last season.
Why isn't your friendly Bulls Blogger friendly?
i can't help but watch deng in a constant state of wince
I’m just so afraid he’s going to get hurt on every play
The Bulls might be flawed, but watching them,
you realize they’re pretty deep. I mean, we’re missing 3 starters, but we can still put quality guys out there. Good to see.

Great move by JJ...got stuffed though.

really wish

if so, dude has impressed me…but pargo looking good this game, over exceeding what my expectations were (that he’d be a dud)
these announcers are soooooo ill informed.

let the boys (rookies) be boys
SLAM…johnson adds to the excitement
Gotta say...
love how they look.
The poster formerly known as Freethefro.
johnson must learn
from what i see he kinda reminds me of a more talented tyrus who must learn to play the game
Woah there
Tyrus is a freak talent, just doesn’t have the bball iq…
We better hope Johnson’s close to that…I don’t think so.
Thurston Moore is a rock god
Interesting...
Deng at the 2. Bulls going HUGE.
The poster formerly known as Freethefro.
noah with (at least) two poor passes already
..and gibs racking up the fouls. johnson still making mistakes, and fouling
But JJ looks damn good in terms of his skills.
Soft jumper, handle, strength. We need to find I role for him.

It's weird -
I feel like he could have a very impressive year, or be totally buried on the bench. He’s kinda the x-factor along with T2.

well through three halves of meaningless preseason basketball
i think we look pretty good. we have length, athleticism, and a solid bench. our interior defense should improve from last year with all those big bodies inside. 38 wins is a joke — i see us going for 45 or so. and we’re gonna be a really fun team to watch. go bulls!
He's also important, to my way of thinking,
because he gives us flexibility with regard to Salmons. John’s a heck of an asset – and I’d love to have a cheap, young, threepoint shooter with defensive aptitude, if the opportunity arises to make a big deal.

hey you should find a way to upload the games in torrent fashion
and have like a seperate section on the blog so people could download the games or something….kinda like davka…at least it would help those of us who miss the games (and if people get into it, maybe others will also post their own torrents of the games just in case you miss the game)….cuz a game like this, which only comes on nba tv…its a shame to miss….

heh
although i gotta admit i hate the fact the nba doesnt allow you to buy entire games from the past. I mean if you missed a certain players career night, you will never be able to watch it again unless someone does “pirate” the game (and even then once the circulation for that download stops, which happens fairly quickly, the game dissapears) I even emailed nba.com asking if they would sell my hinrichs career game, i assume the nba has an archive that contains every game ever played within the 5 years or so (at least) so they probably could make a copy of the game for distribution, but they dont…they dont sell the games themselves and they forbid the rest of the world from doing so….its cruel….

We have a pretty nice team, guys
Who knows, we might end going to the conference semi-finals… They’re playing better defensively and offensively. I feel good about this team. Winning against Utah without D-Rose, TT and Salmons is always good. Pre-season or not
Allow me to add to the Johnson love:
he should’ve had 5 assists tonight.

I like that he said “I know my limitations” when talking about being better offensively. Remember when Ben Wallace said he wanted to be more involved? Ick. No recognition of limitations there.
Noah's play has not dropped off
one bit from the end of last season. I’m very happy to see that.

Shot it pretty well today - at least most of 'em.
Jannero – 35.3%
Everybody else – 55.6%
TOs were bad, but should come down as they get used to each other I hope – and anyone know the team season record for blocked shots?

Vinny shoots him? ;)

He's one of those guys, IMO,
you play them while they’re on fire, then pull them when they’re not. Unless he’s shooting it well, he’s gonna a liability.

True, and with the injuries and preseason and all he got tons of PT, which he hopefully won't in the regular season
Still stands out to me, though. I’m not a big fan of the whole “shooters shoot” thing. It’s bad enough when it’s the star player and a team is counting on them – when it’s a deeper bench guy it drives me nuts.

What did you all think of that lineup with Deng at the 2?
The poster formerly known as Freethefro.
it was ok
but I see no reason to bother with it much. I can’t really picture any situation where playing him there is better than Salmons/Kirk with Lu at SF

Kinda agree...
Just looking for a way to find me some James Johnson minutes.

by MPG on Oct 6, 2009 4:20 PM CDT up reply actions
my guess would be that he and tyrus split minutes at the 4
today Johnson had about 28 minutes, Taj had 33, and Richards had 20.
Obviously, I don’t know exactly what minutes happened where, but taking out Richards’ minutes and a good deal of Gibson’s, there should be plenty of time left for both Tyrus and Johnson.

How about giving Miller more rest-even at $12Million/year
(save him for the playoffs)
or we could just play him as a backup at the center position
but maybe I just feel that way because he’s a center.

oh my god!
Luol Deng’s expression is great! The call is pretty bad though ahhhhhhHHHH dude sounded like he got shot in the leg.
I've got this thing and it's fucking golden!
wtf is the
“it sounded like it came after the horn” what sounded? the ball swishing through the net?? cause that’s not what matters!!
"They should. They better. I'm Vinny Del Negro!"
i kept pausing the vid
to chek the time, the shot left his hand at .1 seconds…(you can see the shot clock on teh top right hand quarter, he got the rebound with less than a second, and let it go by .1) buzzer beater indeed!!
On Behalf of Sue, Wjb, majoyenrac, Bullshooter and all the other Hinrich fans...Ill keep the Hinrich Hope coming...There will be light!
Yeah, I watched the playback in slow-mo on the DVR
And it was definitely off in time. Wonder why they didn’t check, though? Did they not have instant replay capabilities there?
In honor of the dearly departed, I declare July PB&J month - everyone raise a sandwich to the memory of Ben!
Replacement refs :-(
Its not only preseason for them, but on the job training in the NBA. Maybe they didn’t know you could take a look at it.
Why isn't your friendly Bulls Blogger friendly?
I realize these were a different set,
But didn’t they get criticized in the last game for using instant replay with the game already decided and just a couple of seconds on the clock?
I suppose Sloan doesn’t care that much about the outcome of a preseason game, but still kind of seems like someone from the Jazz would have asked them to review it.
In honor of the dearly departed, I declare July PB&J month - everyone raise a sandwich to the memory of Ben!
right, but that had nothing to do with
a sound. nothing needs to make a sound before the buzzer… the swish coming after the buzzer is completely fine. ;) that call just made no sense to me lol. it doesn’t make a sound when the ball leaves his hands.
"They should. They better. I'm Vinny Del Negro!"
in the real game
they had a replay that was from the front, and i paused it and the ball was out of his hand and there was still the .01 on the clock. definitely the right call.
"They should. They better. I'm Vinny Del Negro!"
He was down on the Bulls all game
Harping on KG sitting out the playoffs. Maybe he’s related to yfbb? In fact, it kind of sounded like if Matt and Doug announced a Bulls game together.
In honor of the dearly departed, I declare July PB&J month - everyone raise a sandwich to the memory of Ben!
his worse moment by far was when
he started counting down the game with over a minute left. “three… two… one! oh wait, there is a whole minute left.” lol
by Basketball Smurf on Oct 6, 2009 5:20 PM CDT up reply actions
that was hillarious...
it was more painful to listen to these commentators than listening to our hometown team.
As the designated hinrich-fan-boy
i would like to enquire about hinrichs 4/4 shooting, and if his shooting stroke looks far better than last year or not…..anyone want to elaborate? (i missed the game…)
On Behalf of Sue, Wjb, majoyenrac, Bullshooter and all the other Hinrich fans...Ill keep the Hinrich Hope coming...There will be light!
obviously he shot the ball well
I just wish he was a bit more aggressive on offense, especially is he’s going to see minutes as a SG.
by darksmokepuncher on Oct 6, 2009 4:34 PM CDT up reply actions
Well, in his defense,
He wasn’t playing SG today, and I’m guessing Vinny was far more interested in seeing other parts of the offense. Kirk seemed to be making a big effort to get all the guys involved, especially Lu.
In honor of the dearly departed, I declare July PB&J month - everyone raise a sandwich to the memory of Ben!
I agree
I just don’t want him standing around waiting on spot-up jump shots while Pargo shoots fadeaways from the locker room
by darksmokepuncher on Oct 6, 2009 4:43 PM CDT up reply actions
He distributed the ball very well, pushed it in transition,
and rebounded well. His shot was indentical to the previous seasons, but he was shooting without hesitation. He was terrific.

his defense looks to be back to form as well
while I’m sure Deron wasn’t on Kill-Mode, I think he only had 2 points before Hunter came in.

here we go the negativity from the Score670 everyone is a bum but Rose.
bum is kinda strong.
I've got this thing and it's fucking golden!
Sure looked like a bunch of bums today, huh?
How could we even all stand to watch that lousy shooting, no energy rebounding, selfish no-passing, flat footed no-blocking game?
In honor of the dearly departed, I declare July PB&J month - everyone raise a sandwich to the memory of Ben!
Noah's block was pretty sick.
Fuck Bernstein he’s a turd.
I've got this thing and it's fucking golden!
uhh
thats why i hate listening to the score…its like the extremes of everything, at least on espn1000 theres Carmen who at least proves he watches the games….the score really just pisses me off…
On Behalf of Sue, Wjb, majoyenrac, Bullshooter and all the other Hinrich fans...Ill keep the Hinrich Hope coming...There will be light!
I think Berenstein watches games and knows a good amount about basketball
but he just has a tendency to get a little hyperbolic when discussing the Bulls and basketball as a whole. Every player is either the worst ever or incredible. Get’s a little tiring.

Did anyone else notice Derrick's celebration?
Ummm, I coulda sworn his ankle injury wasn’t so serious?
The dude was jumpin on one foot throughout the whole celebration.
Not an encouraging sign

Yeah I was checking out everyone's celebration
and he did look gimpy. If they have to sit him the whole preseason then do it. I don’t think he even needs to play anymore, why risk injury?

Hey from London I was at the game
Needless to say I was pissed off that Derrick Rose and Tyrus Thomas did not play. I got to the arena late (midway 2nd Quarter, Kevin Smith was doing a sigining lol), but that buzzer beater was friggin insane!
Funniest thing about the night? Noah is very easily distracted. During all the timeouts and huddles, he was the only player looking the other way at the Bobblehead mascot race between Benny the Bull and the Jazz Bear, and when the Cheerleaders were.
I just thought it was a funny thing

good evening from London
I was at the game… A dream come true to see the Bulls after 20 years as a fan.
My thoughts:
a.) This is gonna be a fun team to watch this year… Athletic, fast, hussle playing, lean and mean. Love it.
B.) The rookies are AWESOME – taj and JJ. SO much potential.
C.) We will definitely make the playoffs. Noah will dominate this season.
D.) I love my Bulls!
What an awesome night at the O2 arena…

Pretty late out there in London, isn't it? ;)
Seems strange. Our Bulls always have the greatest games when they don’t matter (1st round playoffs, preseason).

I gotta say it...

Taj is a nice player, but damn. That one’s gonna haunt us for a long time.

Eh, that'll haunt everyone.
I support the Tornado Release [See: Joakim Noah]
In the top 10 of the draft he might be a risk
but for what we could have got him at it wasn’t as much of a risk. So it will haunt us more.
Everything I post is speculation. I have no insider information nor ideas deemed concrete enough by those who are self-elected to regulate post content.
I agree that Taj is a nice (hustle) player with some skills
and I hope Tyrus realizes he’s not going to be allowed to drift off this season if he doesn’t want his court time reduced. After watching the game on NBA tv, I was impressed by the energy our rookies exhibited, along with Noah. But the announcers ranting on about the great Taj was overhyped in my opinion and he poses no immediate threat to my favorite manchild.
Considering his stat line read in 33 minutes of action: 4 of 8 from the field, 2 of 4 FT,
5 boards, zero assists, a steal, 2 monster blocks, 4 TO’s and 6 PF’s although some of his fouls were ticky tacky. If TT posted the same numbers, his detractors would complain about his lack of rebounding, turnovers and stupid fouls.
Johnson was much more impressive to me with his overall game: 28 minutes with 5 of 12 FG including a 3 pointer, 7 of 7 from the line, 2 assists, 1 steal, 2 nice blocks, 4 TO’s, 5 fouls and of course the rebound among his team leading 8 which allowed hm to toss up a rainbow game winner with 0.1 ticks left on the clock. Both rookies showed great hustle which I hope will rub off on Tyrus. Their efforts could either motivate or expose Thomas and I’m counting on the former, since he is still younger than Taj and just barely older than James and I believe his major issues revolve more around a lack of maturity rather than a lack of intelligence.
Win or lose, this year’s team is going to be more exciting, regardless of our coaching void with the improvement of Noah and having the luxury of both Miller and Salmons for an entire season, a healthy Kurt and the great Rose with a full year of experience.
But in the end, I think the 2 key elements in having a winning season and going deep into the playoffs rest on the shoulders of our x and y factors, Lindsey Hunter, the lightning quick high scoring youthful ball handling wizard coming off the bench (just as he did in game 7 last year against the Celtics instead of Tyrus), and how fast our super subs speedy big men tandem of Aaron Gray and Jerome James can recover from thier injuries.
If you can't answer a man's arguments, all is not lost. You can still call him vile names.
Elbert Hubbard
first time i've heard someone swoon over an nba player on air!
Jamessss johnsonnnnnn….. And rightfully so, he had a great gameeee…
James johnsonnnnn….
LOL!!
I was there :D
Joa: 6 blocks
Luol: he is as big as LBJ and Kobe in London – not that it means that much in a country seemingly interested only in football/soccer, but you should see the those posters depicting him as an NBA superstar. He had a nice game, the UK fans really love him
Kirk: hit some shots, dribbled as much as he could.
Pargo: shoots too much
Taj: way better than I tought he would be
Johnson: had a nice game, also had a couple of silly turnovers
"Luol: he is as big as LBJ and Kobe in London"
I was in Melbourne a few years ago, and there was a big mural of two basketball players: Michael Jordan and Luc Longley. In one place at least, they were equals :-D

I was there :D / Part2
I forgot to mention that I also met Derrick at the local Adidas store. He signed my ball (no pun intended) but was slightly less enthusiastic than I was. Spoiled brat, he wasted his only chance to talk to me :D I was really pissed when I learnt he would not play – basically I flew to London from Hungary to watch him, Joa and Brad play. Gosh, it took only 24 years to watch my first Bulls game. BJ was also at the store, he looks as lean and fit as ever.
Hey, I live right next to Chicago
and I have not gotten 100 ft of Rose. You are still lucky you got to meet him before he is too superstar to meet regular people.
