Open Game Thread #2: Bulls at Boston Celtics
Chicago Bulls at Boston Celtics, Oct 30, 2009 7:00 PM CDT
I didn't visit the game thread yesterday and don't know if it was contentious, but I forgot to give my pre-season remark to make sure you flag jerkholes, else I'll never know of their jerkholeness.
New thread at 8:30.

I think he's got it scientifically figured out that
from that exact spot on the floor his weird release makes the ball go in. I don’t remember him shooting from any other spot on the floor yet. If he shot on the other side it would probably spin out.

and teams always sag off him because his jumper is heinous. If he keeps making it, they might step up on it.

I think our passing is fine
We’re getting open shots, no?

Well, Salmons prefers them contested from what I can tell.

1. Cut a hole in a box
2. Put your Kirk in that box
3. Make some team open that box

we have lost games like this to Boston for years with BG.. this has nothing to do with BG. when The Celts are full strength we almost always shoot like this vs them

C'mon people
The Boston Celtics are the best defensive team in the league. Rose is being double teamed at the top of the key, and he is dropping assists to guys and they are missing shots. The only person stepping up is… Tyrus. Only 1 player can make a high level play with the ball in his hands – Rose.
Great ball movement gets fouled up by good D. That is why a guy like BG was so important…

Damn you and your rationale
But yeah, you’re right. It just sucks watching this game after what we saw last night.
by kwintz on Oct 30, 2009 8:29 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
they need to move the ball better, and stick open shots. the only way to beat a defense like
Boston’s is to move the ball faster than they can recover. The Bulls haven’t done it tonight, and even when they have Salmons or Deng or whoever has bricked the open look.

by fundamentallysound on Oct 30, 2009 8:29 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
the ball movement hasn't been as good though
tonight we are the team that’s not sharp. the d isn’t awful (transition could be much better though), and if they make fts, got a couple blown calls by the refs on deng and salmons, and had a three pointer roll in instead of out, then this would just be an ugly game they’d still be in.

According to shotchart
Celtics are 11/16 on 2pt jumpers out of the paint, Bulls are 6/16. That’s 10 points right there.
We’re fine. They’re just making open shots and we aren’t.
by YaoPau on Oct 30, 2009 8:33 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
The question is
can we get out of our shooting funk or is this going to be it tonight? Who is going to go against the mold and make a shot?
