Definitely a must listen for Bulls fans. For the first 10 minutes it's just the usual coachspeak bs. But near the end Marc Silverman gives Vinny his opinion on when Derrick should be playing and things get a little testy from that point. Pretty funny stuff. Nobody tells the hair what to do!

Can't believe he basically said his team is incapable of winning a championship

this year.

We all know it’s true, but come one! As a head coach you just don’t say something like this. Makes me like him even less (if that’s possible).

meh

it came out wrong I suppose, you don’t really say that…but it’s true, so I can’t fault him on that line.

I'm favorable to Vinny's position

His job as coach is to make the team better. He’s exposing more of the plan “plan” from the organization.

The comments about asking if Rose should be out there at the end of games is really interesting. He’s saying Rose isn’t among his best five players to close out a game.

Wow. Puff puff give Vinny.

12/31: Fire Vinny Del Negro.

Did anyone else think it was a little below the belt

for a comment that was basically ending the interview? He probably could’ve brought it up in a more tactful way.

We're never going to get decent basketball guys on the local radio

39% of people that responded to a Comcast poll asking what they were looking forward to next in Chicago sports after the Bears loss in Cincinnati said “pitchers and catchers reporting”.

this

Waddle and Silvy are somewhat entertaining, but they’re a couple of idiots.

it was definitely a pretty stupid quip

but even worse is the fact that VDN bothered to respond to it.
maybe I’m wrong, but I thought the issue of Rose playing at the end of games was dealt with already.

I dunno,

I thought Silvy had a point. Sounds like Vinny was saying that you don’t develop your players until they’re ready to win a championship. He still seems to think he was right in that situation, despite Pax calling him out on it.

Metal sharpens metal.

And this guy right here understands and knows what leadership is all about: The coach, the hall of famer......... Dick Butka! George Ryan

he could still think that he's right

but it didn’t look like he was trying to pull Derrick towards the end of the season, so why make the snarky comment about it now?

by darksmokepuncher on Oct 27, 2009 3:54 PM CDT up reply actions

I agree about that.

Silvy was being dumb bringing that up. I’m just saying that I think what Vinny said was dumb as well.

yea vinny took it really personally

which was what made it so weired. I mean vinny couldve just done one of those fake laughs and been like, “yea well explore all of our options when the time comes and derrick will be someone we will be looking for in those times” which basically says nothing (pax speak?) and wouldve ended the interview…the odd thing about the whole part is how it seems like it struck a nerve with vinny and the “snarky” comment didnt really sound that bad…

Silvy is a gigantic douche. That was blatantly baiting VDN, and then acting like VDN was a jerk

for getting annoyed / pissed about it. With the “what? I was just kidding, really” routine. It was a dick move and Silvy is a dick for having done it.

Exactly

All Vinny hate aside here. He’s the head coach of an NBA team. And for some radio show host just to take a jab like that, it really does kind of show no respect at all for the person he’s interviewing. Can you imagine somebody just saying “Leave Bynum in the game Phil” to Phil Jackson at the end of an interview? It’s kinda like, “who the fuck are you?!” Not to mention that while the breif period of time when Rose wasn’t in at the end of games was annoying, it was also just that, brief. Wasn’t it only like two games and then it never happened again? Not really worth bringing up NOW if you ask me.

Silvy is a douche bag

this just proves it. Although, it was about 7 games in a row where Derrick wasn’t in there to end the games (to Juiceboxjerry), nonetheless, it was a good 9 months ago and the situation was rectified.

I repeat, Silvy is a douche bag.
