Wait a minute...Derrick Rose doesn't stretch before practice?!?
Can we please fire the Bulls trainer? If the Bulls have a trainer?
Still, good news…

“Out there, it’s still kind of stiff. I told Lindsey [Hunter] I know how they feel when they have to stretch now. Usually I’ll just go out there and run, but now I really gotta take stretching into consideration.”
Agreed. My jaw dropped when I read that. Ridiculous.
1. Cut a hole in a box
2. Put your Kirk in that box
3. Make some team open that box

Maybe they had to lay some people off
in order to afford a big man coach. You know how cash-strapped the Bulls are. They’ve saved some money on a discount coach. Where else were they going to make cuts?

I just think many things about the organization is similiar to Park District adult league...
"I tried being reasonable, I didn't like it."
"Go ahead, make my day"
"We boil at different degrees"
"A good man always knows his limitations"
"You've got to ask yourself one question: 'Do I feel lucky?' Well, do ya punk?"
I know it's popular these days to blame everything on the org
But honestly, how long has Derrick been an athlete? Shouldn’t he, individually, be expected to understand the importance of this?
Besides, I doubt he literally doesn’t stretch at all, no matter how he phrased it.

Wow, I was literally just about to type that
You’re dead on though. He should know that he has to do shit like that. I know it’s kind of ridiculous, but hearing this worries me about all the other work/preparation that he puts into his craft.

Not to mention that he supposedly eats nothing but candy
At least he did in college, anyways.
i think he's said elsewhere he's cleaned that up a bit
unlike lamar odom. :D

I've read and heard from a couple of trainer-types that I trust a lot
that while staying flexible and stretching is important, the timing of it is not so much. Many advocate training after sports and others do it with the rest of their training. The obvious issue with this is that if the trainers now have him stretching before practice , they clearly do advocate pre-warmup stretching.
On a separate note, I’m not sure if trainers are lumped in with doctors by the NBA, but I read somewhere, maybe on this site, that the Bulls medical staff was ranked number 1 in the NBA. Can anyone confirm that?

Deng's misdiagnosed problem last season confirms it. :) Or denies it rather.

You should warm up before you stretch...
…and stretch before you go hard, but you get the MOST benefit when your muscles are really fired from the whole practice. “Stretch some before, but 3 times longer afterward” is my general rule.
People should remember that while they have the right to their opinion, they are not entitled to be taken seriously. --Bruce Bartlett
Agreed.
In my experience, stretching is much more beneficial after warm-ups and especially after the full session is complete.
I just hope Rose is stretching sometime.

Rgars the way I do it.
I always stretch after I lift, not before. That+occasional stretching before basket/foot ball gets it done for me. I’m 22 and have never really pulled a muscle in my life, no joke.

The Bulls team doctor was NBA Physician of the Year
Medicine is a team sport too though.

Fred Tedeschi is the current trainer
His tenure began in August 1998.
We could use our old trainer back, but he’s still shadowing in Phil Jackson. Chip Schaefer is the Lakers trainer.
