Ben "Thinks he's Jordan" Gordon

We are going to be so much better without that ball stopping midget. I understand scoring is important, but the improved ball movement will make up for more than enough points especially considering passing wont go hot and cold as often as Ben would. Lets just hope somebody else doesn't step into that ball chucking role for instance like Salmons. This will be a much better Bulls team, and if Tyrus step up and makes a stride this year the Bulls will be a contender. That is assuming Vinny won't cause this team to self destruct.

Are you kidding me?

Salmons is a NOTORIOUS ball stopper. This is the preseason and everything looks good now. But it’ll take time before we see what we really have.

As for Gordon. Everyone knows he’s no MJ. That’s about the most obvious thing in the world. But the truth is Gordon has easily been the best Chicago Bull since Michael Jordan (better than Elton Brand because Brand was on some HORRIBLE teams). After this season that title should safely belong to Derrick Rose, but up until now Gordon has undoubtedly been the best Bull since MJ…and he got killed for it. Instead of getting better players on the team (thereby making Gordon the 3rd or 4th best player), people continued to hammer Gordon saying the Bulls couldn’t win with him as the best player. Gordon would have been a great 6th man on a Bulls team that LEGITIMATELY had 2 or 3 players better than him…but that was never the case while he was here.

I'll assume you forgot about Scottie Pippen.

Yes, Gordon is probably the best Bull since MJ/Pipp. But he’s not even an all-star. There is a huge gap between Gordon and those two.

And we don’t need to wait till the preseason to see if Salmons is a ball-stopper, we saw him for half-a-year in 08-09.

BG in his prime is better than Scottie Pippen well past his.

(Scottie in his prime was of course superior to BG).

That's kind of what I was getting at Granny.

When Pip came back in 2003 or something like that he was a shell of his former self. But of course Gordon isn’t better than the championship years Top 50 all time Scottie Pippen.

What Bull has been an all-star since those two??

Certainly not Captain Kirk or Super Loul as many people around here seemed to think.

And you have got to know that nobody in their right mind would call Gordon better than Pippen in his prime. I know the game a little better than that. I didn’t expressly mention Scottie Pippen, but in a roundabout way I was saying that Gordon was the best Bull since the championship days and the Bulls would have been closer to a title by surrounding Gordon with players who are actually better than him instead of continually trying to run him out of town and overpaying bums that Gordon consistently outproduced.

there will always be close games

and in a close game it’s really nice to have someone like bg. that’s when he’ll be missed. regardless of how much better our ball movement and defense may be, there will be games that we’ll lose because we don’t have a big-time clutch shooter. it’ll be great if someone on the team can step up and take on that role, but it’s pretty unlikely that anyone will really be be able to replace bg in those situations.

I'm sure this will be a much better Bulls team

because we’re losing your biases on Ben Gordon, who, by the way, is much better at sharing the ball than John Salmons, and actually made some of those retarded end-of-quarter isos Vinny drew up.
But no, I guess we’re better with Pargo taking those.

By much better,

do you mean that he commits a whopping .4 turnovers more per 36, which is explained by the fact that he handles the ball a lot more than Salmons?
He has a higher “hands” rating than Salmons at 82games.com … whatever that means.

Looking at last year per-36 for Gordon and year-before per-36 for Salmons here:
http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/s/salmojo01.html
http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/g/gordobe01.html
Comparing through their careers Salmons has a .7 edge – but Gordon’s learned to not turn the ball over as much as he’s gotten older.
[Of course, BG loses the assists per 36 … wait, what? lol]

What is the point of this post? Ben is on the Pistons. Again he is the biggest scapegoat in Bulls history. The defense sucks….oh it’s because of Ben. Too many turnovers…it’s Ben

Dude has his faults….could be too shot-happy, insufficient handles…poor D.

Salmons doesn’t even try to pass and is a way overrated defender…Ben actually set people up nicely especially on the fastbreak…check Youtube for Bulls highlights including Tyrus killing J O Neal and Ben is the one making the pass.

Plus he was a top 10 finisher in the NBA last year, you need a guy who you can go to in crunchtime

As much as anyone can hate BG, you have to admit that he has been one of the most clutch players in recent NBA history.

btw I’m no BG superfan and I wouldn’t have given him that contract, I just think it’s bullshit how people dump all the team’s issues on one man.

I'm going to bookmark this post

And link it everytime someone misses a game-winner.

Things could be worse. We could have kept Boylan.

Let's remember...Neither did Jordan

At least Ben has hit some. I can honestly count on one hand how many game winners Kirk Hinrich, Luol Deng, Derrick Rose, John Salmons, and… hell the whole Bulls team has hit in there careers combined.

Like others have said, Gordon is the scapegoat for everything. So now Tyrus will be the new one this year. Meanwhile Mr. 71 million will struggle to put up double digits in more than just minutes every night and Mr. “Scrappy”, Mr. “Feisty”, Mr.“Big time defender” Kirk Hinrich will be counting his big money coming off the freaking bench. If this organization made better choices in drafts(Like taking Ty Lawson over JJ so they could f) they wouldn’t need a scapegoat.

by Dils on Oct 24, 2009 6:24 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Yeah neither did Jordan

Matter of fact, I can count on one hand how many game winning shots anyone else on this team has made COMBINED in their careers and trust me, it doesn’t add up to the amount BG has made at the age of 26.

Like others have said, BG will now be the scapegoat and that’s fine because I’m sure this season it will be Tyrus taking the blame. Meanwhile Mr. 71mil a year will try to average double digits in something else besides minutes on the floor and Mr. “I’m too valuable to be traded because I’m scrappy and play overated defense” will be doing most of his work coming off the bench this year.

Maybe if the Organization did better in drafts (like drafting Ty Lawson instead of JJ so they could trade Hinrich at some point this season), and made better choices with whom they decided to pay, they wouldn’t need to have a scapegoat this season.

Oh one more thing, you haven’t seen a display of ballhog flow stopping basketball until you see John Salmons and Luol Deng trying to “find their shots” while playing on the floor at the same time.

Who is "Jordon" (sic)?

Somewhat OT,

but I was so hoping that the OP here spelled Gordon ‘Gordan’. I always get that momentary flicker of hope every time I see the title.

Was there a point to this?

This hardly qualifies as a fanshot. I guess it is a slow week here at blogabull.

Everything I post is speculation. I have no insider information nor ideas deemed concrete enough by those who are self-elected to regulate post content.

If Ben Gordon is a midget...

…then it was WISE to let him sign with Detroit. Dwarves suffer from a variety of musculoskeletal issues as they age and therefore Ben would have spent a lot of time on the DL. Smart move by Bulls!!
