Thomas to start, Rose to sit against Wiz
[From the FanShots. I was starting to mount a froth of anger after reading that Taj practiced with the first unit on Thursday, but all is well as Tyrus starts tonight. Though if you read the link, the idea that there's even an 'internal debate' (as well as more weird VDN quotes) is still worrisome. No Hinrich or Pargo tonight either, this one should be a reaalll stinker. Did I mention I'm attending? -ed.]

Sucks for those of us watching the game tonight, but probably the right move

"James Johnson will probably even play some point forward."
Ooh! I think what makes JJ unique is his passing ability, and he hasn’t gotten a chance to showcase it. I’m excited for this.

Perhaps today will be the day
I witness my dream of an all 6’8"+ lineup that will dominate the NBA in the year 2070.

Didn't the Atlanta Hawks try that for a few years?

The Clippers might've with the Livingston/Ross backcourt
That team was really really bad.

Wasn't D'Antoni the guy who said that?
His dream lineup was all 6’8" guys who could shoot from the outside and handle the ball.

And play defense...?
That’s Iowa’s Todd Lickliter’s ideal (formerly, and good, at Butler). SF who can handle shoot and defend. Throw in a very good ball-handling PG and a rebounding big man and you’re set.

reading Vinny's comments
It seems more like a test for evaulating Thomas than anything else. Maybe they will switch off starting until one of them wins Vinny’s heart.

Taj and Tyrus
Maybe they can co-exist splitting the time and starting to match-ups, both have their pluses.

In what scenario would Taj match up better than Tyrus?

Maybe against PF weighing more I believe Taj has 20 lbs on TT

have you SEEN Taj? He's a stick figure.
1. Cut a hole in a box
2. Put your Kirk in that box
3. Make some team open that box
by fundamentallysound on Oct 23, 2009 2:01 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
Watch him for 3 years he is skinning but has great fundamentals and is listed at 230
Hey I have always liked TT (except when he didn’t show against ucla) I am surprised that Taj is getting this much time also. But the staff is going to pick who they want and they actually see these guys practice, so I figure they know what they are doing.

I see you guys don't like your staff, well I know what that is like having Dell Harris for a coach.
Listen as you can see I am not a bulls fan first, but I have pulled for you guys for a couple of years. I was just checking to see how Taj was coming along, I have watch a couple of games and he looks pretty much the same. I don’t feel he should be a starter and he will be good off your bench, for he can spell 3,4, and 5 if you need him.
Unlike most NBA players he is not a jerk and works hard, will give you all he has kind of like Maleak Rose.

Good grief. Taj weighted 214 lbs. at the predraftcamp and Tyrus weighed
217 lbs. And Tyrus is definitely heavier than when he was three years ago.

I hope they have an ambulance in the tunnel
because I think hunter is the only guard we have available.
Hunter
Byars
Deng
Thomas
Noah.
i would just use this game and feed noah the ball every time down. Same for tyrus.
I've got this thing and it's fucking golden!

Yay
“Tyrus has had a couple good days of practice,” Del Negro said after the team’s morning shootaround. “He started for us last year. Let’s see how the first unit does. We’re just taking it a day at a time. Once we get back to practice with our bodies healthy, we’ll try to get into a consistent rotation that makes sense.”
Good to know that 4 years in, we’re still on the carrot/stick approach to Tyrus.

So, there's no more reason to fear.
Vinnie thinks TT belongs to the “first unit”, right?
Pargo = Larry Hughes 2.0

It's sort of unclear to me. You could parse that comment a few ways
And anyway, you parse the language when you’re trying to get at what a speaker really thinks. I don’t think Vinnie really thinks when he speaks, so I don’t think there’s too much of a point.

As Sports2 says, "I don't think Vinnie really thinks when he speaks, so I don’t think there’s too much of a point."
Exactly If we keep this maxim in mind, thre rest of us will no longer have a need to beat our heads against a wall trying to understand Vinny’s so called logic.
If you can't answer a man's arguments, all is not lost. You can still call him vile names.

Okay...
because my role on this site is to play Polyanna, I’m gonna suggest (somewhat halfheartedly) that a “couple good days of practice” refers to Tyrus staying healthy, competing, and finishing the practices without any signs of injury. He was the starter, got hurt, and they brought him back slowly because it’s the preseason. A low first round pick played well, but by no means spectacularly, in his absence.
The alternative, that Tyrus lost and won his job back in a week or so…I mean, that’s crazy, right? Are the Bulls really just a bunch of amateur behaviorists?
Jesus. I got depressed by the end of this post.

This is ridiculous. It’s Tyrus’s spot, stop messing about. Let him play and kill the ‘internal debate’. He’s the 4. He should be the 4 all season. Commit to him for 32 minutes a game and watch what he gives you. Come on, Vinny.

This is what makes alot of sense
I think Vinny and the boys are gonna try to use this game to play Tyrus and Taj alot together with Taj at the starting power position. Tyrus will be at the new position that he has a good chance of not playing overly well at which will add more fuel to the Taj over Tyrus argument. I seriously doubt every point guard is out with an injury. If Tyrus has a monster game, Vinny will have alott of decisions to make as to how to start Taj, however if Taj performs well while Tyrus plays o.k at the 3, Stacy and every other announcer will make the call for Taj to start. It’s all very obvious guys, and again, this started with the playoffs last year!
