looking forward to watching JJ tonight
should get significant minutes with the ball in his hands.
There are really only two plays: Romeo and Juliet, and put the darn ball in the basket.

true, true
I expect his to’s will be pretty damn high, but I want to see how comfortable he is making plays at point forward.

Probably just trying to mimic Taj's game so he looks "active" and doesn't get benched again.
Oh wait, he got benched. Damn it.

Arenas is NOT afraid to shoot.
"Then you need a center so if the ball gets stuck between the rim and backboard he can reach up and knock it loose instead of having to spend 15 minutes trying to hit it with a broom stick." – Sam Smith
So everyone is talking about Taj starting instead of TT
But no one talks about JJ starting is Dengs place. If Deng keeps missing those shots, I prefer having JJ in his place
Jannero Pargo = Larry Hughes 2.0
Those Wizards hats are goofy.

Right, but that play was set up for him to curl at the top of the key
why not curl closer to the rim, or even do pick and rolls, that was a shooting guard shot, you will not see Taj shoot a shot like that trust me
The play was for him to shoot it. He was open. He should shoot it, but he had time
to set his feet. He didn’t and he missed as a result.

I wouldn't mind it. Luol looks terrible out there.
I guess you’d have to start Salmons at the 3? I don’t love that because it means the Kirk starts and I like him in his super sub combo guard role, especially if it results in Pargo getting more minutes. I wouldn’t be totally opposed to starting Tyrus at the 3, Noah at the 4, and Brad at the 5. Then giving Brad a rest early, sliding Tyrus and Noah down when Luol comes in.

He's not gonna hit the boards hard
he’s not gonna be finishing like he would around the rim, playing him at the 3 sends the wrong message to him, it’s like saying “we trust your perimeter game” when he should be playing just like Taj, no farther out than the free throw line.
He's been effective, and this is not a normal lineup. TT has had to play 3 because Salmons is playing the freaking point.

Tyrus has played the majority of this game at 3
I thought he would start at 3, yet he didn’t he played 4 or 5 minutes at 4 then was 3 the rest of the half. Tyrus will be put at 3 alot this year, watch, and he will not play well there and his numbers across the board will drop, guaranteed.
He's played fine. He's not going to play a lot of minutes at the 3. We have Deng, Salmons, and JJ who will all play the 3 before Tyrus. You're being ridiculous.

I'm the biggest Tyrus fan, and I'm telling you he's played a average game
How many rebounds, how many blocks, how many points in the paint. Tyrus was ripped last year for shooting alot of jumpers, now in the new offense he’s put at the 3 for pre-season and you think he won’t play it in the regular season. He’s played more 3 than 4 so far since the game vs Minnesota!

I don't know how I'm offbase
The teams alledged starting power forward, is being debated about even starting the season off first off, then he plays most of the pre season at 3, the guy whos supposed to take his job is not being moved around, TT is. If that’s not proof enough, you see Tyrus who everyone says is so dumb, knows this SF play to a tee. He played the 3 alot the last game too correct and all of the big’s were available, how do you not see this. Tyrus has been the only player besides Salmons to not play his position.

he can't get 10 boards every night. especially
when Noah is gobbling them up like he did tonight. The Bulls, in case you didn’t notice, dominated tonight without 3 of their rotation guys. Tyrus had 19 pts, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal, and 1 block. He played well.

I don't really give a damn about whether
you defended Tyrus, the fact of the matter is that you pointed to Taj as the guy that Tyrus should play like despite the fact that Tyrus put up more rebounds and blocked the same number of shots as him, despite playing on the “perimeter.” Tyrus is fine. He just got moved to the SF for some minutes tonight because Deng looked like crap and all the guards were out.

to drop you back down
their coach is poppovich, perhaps one of the top 3 coaches in the nba right (id actually put him in front of phil jackson btw)
They have arguably the best pf ever in the nba on their team (yes hes declining but his game has always been more about fundemental sound stuff as opposed to physical dominance, so on game one when he has no injuries, he will be a force unto himself)
THey have one of the (arguably) top 5 pgs in the leage in Tony Parker (who probably has a better shot than rose right now, and though not as strong, can get to the line probably more being a veteran…and is still one of the top 3 fastest pgs in the league right now)
They have Manu Ginobli (considered by many to be the second best sg in the entire league!!)
They have role players who all have defined and specific roles
THey have a pedegree of championships in this decade and are hungry for one last one before tim duncan and ginobli break (litterally)
We have Vinny Del Negro as our coach
THey are the spurs, and we are the bulls….despite roses best efforts, id say the difference between them and us is the difference between the sky and the earth…

He's much, much faster than I thought.
Tonight he was just pretty passive. I think the reason he’s going to struggle this year is we don’t yet have a role for him. He’s actually playing the good soldier a bit – which is fine for a rookie. I suspect he’ll be one of those players that improves a great deal in their secord year. A lot depends on Luol. If he falls on his face this year, it may have to happen sooner.
The poster formerly known as Freethefro.
Besides Rose
He’s the only guy on our team who can get to the basket at will. Salmons, kinda, but he’s CDR-freaky and just kinda rope-a-dopes his way to the hole. JJ is just quicker (and somehow also bigger) than the guys who’ve guarded him. And the amazing thing is he’s quicker while still being flabby.
Maybe it’s just that I’ve been watching Deng for years, who can’t create his own jumpshot let alone his own layup. It’s like our team has been divided into two categories: crafty old dudes who are mildly athletic (Hinrich, Salmons, Deng, Taj, Miller), and super athletic young guys who need polish (Rose, JJ, Tyrus, Noah). I remember in that 2006 draft Pax said he wanted elite athletes (got Tyrus/Thabo), and it looks like they’ve stuck with that route since and I like it.
By the way
It just dawned on me that Rose-Salmons-JJ-Noah-Miller is the best passing lineup we’ve had in years. I think that’ll be a nice test of AST% as a factor of APM, and should be one fun lineup to see.
Interesting analysis..
but why the hell would they pay deng a ton load of money if that was the direction..
paxson ? does he really have a consistent plan? I really doubt it!

you need to have a big salery
moving both ways in a trade for a marque player…. at least that’s the first reason that comes to mind. Plus Deng before the injury last year seem to be a player other teams desired to trade for… and one that superstars wanted to play along side to use as a sidekick.
72-10 that makes perfect sense!
especially considering deng was once mentioned in trade talks with the great one..kobe.
it was a gamble, it looks like paxson loss again. I still believed it to be a big risk at the time because deng was always really only a stats man always and never was to be found at the end of games when clutch players emerge to close out and win games… never..

That was before the entire world found out how fragile Deng's body is!
Coupled with the underlining fact! Chicago Bulls under Paxson’s leadership get’s a grade -F for developing young players and Deng is a prime example of another guy who will never advanced because he never had a player mentor or a guy more senior than him, or a leader player who would tell his weak a$$ to shape up and hit the weight room and play like a man! (Similar to the treatment Jordan gave Pippen before they ever won their first championship!)
Paxson give him the keys and depended upon him to become all that he could be? I don’t get it! A journeyman Sudanise part citizen Englishmen? This is the American NBA what makes Deng that stuff to come over here an assume a role by his dammie as second fiddle on a team that didn’t yet have a first fiddle without step by step guidance?
In retrospect, Kobe coming here and joining Deng would have be the best thing to happen to wimp a$$ Luol Deng. Kobe would have helped to make the man out of him that has yet to happen. And now with a weak body and fearful disposition it will probably never happen. With Tyrus it could still happen if traded or the Bulls clean back office house and get rid of Paxson and his administration entirely.

thanks
Not sure if I can do it from my phone though. Useless bit of info: we share the same first name. It would be really cool if you are a black guy since I only met one other black Matt in all my 29 years. Shout out to Matt Forte from the Bears!

I also don't think it was that bad a gamble
and it can still turn out in our favor depending on what Gar does this year…. should be interesting!
JJ will make Luol Deng expendable
if Luol cannot discover some fire when attacking the rim. He just can’t draw fouls at the rim and his lift is too weak to avoid getting his layups blocked.
JJ has that aggressive streak that will push him to throw his body into defenders the way same way Gilbert Arenas does.
12/31: Fire Vinny Del Negro.
