Rose could miss the season opener
[From the fanshots. Dr. Del Negro says it's an unusual ankle injury and it's possible Rose will miss the opener. Dr. Rose (someone else took his MCAT) says there's no way he'll miss the game.
Either way, it's looking like Rose will be missing nearly the entire preseason, which isn't a good thing for a team supposedly banking on continuity and camaraderie over talent. -ed.]
OK, now I'm officially concerned.

OK Vinny, What the fuck do you mean exactly when you say "unusual" ankle injury???

As sin said
Rose said he’ll play. Therefore, he’ll play.

As much as I want to see Rose out there on opening night, this was the scariest part of that article
“(The doctors) haven’t said anything. If they see me running right or maybe if I trick them, I’ll be out there playing.”
I’d rather see Dr. Vinny win out on this one. Let Derrick miss a couple games to start the season if need be, but don’t rush him back only to never seem him at 100% at any point during the season or worse. I’d hate to seem him lost for a bigger chunk of the season because he exacerbates the original injury or develops a new one out of compensating for the original.

Bulls open against SA and BOS anyway
so it’s not like they’d be jeopardizing possible wins either.

Even if Rose is 90%
I don’t want him out there! He needs to be back at full strength with no chance of reinjury…if it’s a few games, so what! Injuries happen to even the healthiest players, but they can so easily be made much worse by lack of rehab…Hinrich will be fine for the time being and Pargo is not great, but a healthy and productive Rose needs to be top priority! No big name free agent will want to come if Rose is injured on and off all year.

I agree. I want Rose
fully healthy when he plays. This is one of those times it’s a good thing they have Kirk on this team.

If the coaching staff is wise, they won't jeopardize Rose's health.
I respect his desire to play, but a long-term, critical injury would be disastrous for the franchise.
Not to mention, who doesn’t want to see lil’ Pargo and his obsessive compulsive jumpers from the elbow? That’s good old fashioned family fun right there.

Kirk
Hinrich will probably play better than Rose in the opening anyway…
by chapuforyou on Oct 20, 2009 10:30 AM CDT reply actions 0 recs
Its not Kirks minutes versus Rose's minutes
Its the possibility of Pargo registering 20 or more mins.

Yeah
Pargo’s the 3rd string point guard. If Kirk gets in foul trouble or something, you’re down to Pargo and Lindsey Hunter.

Yeah, if you count Vinny, Randy Brown, Pete Myers, and the other old guy.....Lyndsey Hunter

Yes Ozzie, Kirk is a point guard
So since we have one point guard, a damn near 40 year old point guard on the bench who never plays, and a under sized average shooting guard playing point guard, I guess all is well in your book!

There's no sense to rush him, so if it's serious, or confusing to the doctors

Eff it
Have him sit out the whole year, get the top pick in the draft and lure a superstar free agent to come to Chicago to play with an already talented young team, a healthy rose and the number 1 pick in the draft …
I mean if you think its meaningless for him to play the first two games because of supposed losses to the Spurs and Celtics, it may as well be meaningless to play a full season if you have no shot at a ring, right?
Ok ok, I kid …
But if the plan is indeed all about 2010, why not?
And I don’t buy that crap that a free agent wouldn’t come to Chicago if they sucked this year. They should be smart enough to know the team didn’t have Rose and if he added himself to a team with a healthy Rose, young talent, and a top draft pick … Well then hey … You got something there. They just want money and a chance to win on a big city stage anyways, right?

Ankle injuries are a bitch to deal with
The problem is that if he comes back too early and aggravates it, it will be an issue for another month. Especially for a player who’s as dependent on his speed as Rose is, being conservative with it is definitely the right move.

and turn rose into our sixth man!

He does have all of the qualities of a Bulls 6th man.
Which happen to be the qualities of starters on most other teams.

Derrick has a minor setback.
He had soreness today after runnning yesterday. I sure hope he doesn’t push himself to play if he’s not healthy enough to play. I know he wants to play but he needs to look at the long picture.

I hope they make him just sit until they know he’s 100%. It’s a long season and no reason to start off with a nagging injury that can just keep coming back.

so much for going to the season opener
i’m not paying inflated prices for the home opener when Rose won’t even be playing thus giving us even less of a shot to win or even be competitive.

They should do the tickets like the Blazers said they plan to: Cheaper for less attractive games and one of the variables is star/popular players being injured.
I wonder, though, how the specifics of that work out. I can’t imagine they give anybody cheaper tickets after already purchasing, but I guess game night tickets would be cheaper if say Roy were hurt.

I know whats happening here... taps temple.
Vinny thinks this is the NFL and by saying Derrick won’t play then other teams can’t scout Derrick and know how good he is or what plays the bulls will run.. it will be a guessing game… it’s all a strategic ploy by Vinny Del Eggroll. brilliant…
and thats why everyone is laughing all the time….

In that case
Salmons also won’t be playing, or Tyrus, Noah, and Deng. Who could see through that? They probably won’t even stretch, since they’re expecting a starting lineup of Hunter, Pargo, JJ, Taj, and Brad.
Things could be worse. We could have kept Boylan.

i think if rose doesnt play in the beginning of the season and we start losing big time
the blame on vinny will be lessened by the fact that we have an injured rose allowing vinny to live another year
