Preseason open Game Thread: Bulls vs. Orlando Magic
Orlando Magic at Chicago Bulls, Oct 19, 2009 7:00 PM CDT
Discounting the England game, this is the first credible opponent the Bulls have faced in the preseason. So maybe it'll tell us something...but likely won't.

No Rose? :(

Alright...
Breakout game for JJ.

the defense really feels so much better when kirk is playing rather than derrick.
Monkeys are like nature's humans.
He is playing Nelson though.
The different isn’t as pronounced against fast guys like TJ Ford and that scrub in Boston.
No one on this team can guard fast point guards.
(unless your talking about rajon rondo I was kidding he isn’t a scrub)
Faster than me, yes. but he isn't that fast for point guard
Kirk is playing him awesome though… don’t get me worng. I just don’t think Kirk does very well against the guys faster than him. Although who knows. Maybe a season of trying to stay in front of Rose in practice will pay divendeds.
We've got to believe that Rose will significantly improve his defense
otherwise we might as well give up on the Bulls future. You can’t win with a PG that let’s opponent point guards penetrate at will.
What was that Luol???

Funky King annoying me already.

Nice quarter.
Liked the energy; both teams played well. They just look so much more organized than last year.

we look good
we’ve made a few mistakes, but we’re playing really hard. I hope this carries over into the season.

Also...
I like T2 as the point man on the press. Long, quick, active. That press got us four points.
VDN’s claim of focusing on defense…not bullshit?

i wanted pressing badly all last year. im really happy to see them use it now.

I think he is coming out with a DVD tutorial on it soon.

Is it just me or does Funk get all the names wrong all the time?
Pargo and Salmons look nothing alike.

what has gotten into Brad?

That's what happens when he knows
he isn’t going to be playing 30+ minutes. He can play hard for 15 minutes and then let the kids play.

why is Tyrus settling for jumpers again?
he was great the other night. I don’t understand him at all.

tyrus felt attacking the basket was too easy. gotta up the difficulty. get respect.

Man Pietrus blows.

he is answering all his critics
from the Boston series! Defense and timeout management the 2 themes from preseason?
I guess, but he was clearly effed up. Why make him hobble up and down the court two
times waiting for a stoppage of play
great d taj
The poster formerly known as Freethefro.
I've got a feeling Tyrus isn't happy about coming off the bench
And his effort reflects that
Then he is
only hurting himself.

I'd be pretty unfocused if that happened to me!
More like pretty pissed actually, Tyrus is done for as a Bull!
nice recognition by salmons. couple of missed shots, attack the rim.

hahah
aaaaaaand here come the end of quarter jannero isolation critics!
When Funk says "Pargo goes to work"
it seems to be another way of saying “turnover”.

No the starter's are just getting the main run
JJ is gonna be at the back of the rotation it looks like.
T2:
0 points, 2 TOs, 2pfs.
God bless him.

Vinny won't look at the stats
he will see hard work and think that Taj deserves 30+ minutes in the reg season

He’s a total pro at taking up interview time repeating the same thing 4 or 5 times.

LUOL BLOCKED BY JJ REDICK?!?@!
The poster formerly known as Freethefro.
Wow, that has to be the lowpoint of Deng's career. Stuffed by Redick...
that’s our $12 million man right there!
That's just sad.
Seriously…this is what a summer of swimming does for you. Great cardio, no explosion.

It is pretty sad, to get blocked by a guy whose only claim to fame is supposedly being a good shooter,
but who is shooting 0-7 on the night. Definitely a low point for Lu.

Did someone break John Salmon's legs?
Because that’s the only reason Pargo should be in the game. Other than it’s the preseason.
The poster formerly known as Freethefro.
who is miller pissed at?
did anyone see what happened?
Apparently the replacements
got the memo about traveling and how it shouldn’t be called in the last minute of any game…
"The Zen philosopher Basho once wrote: 'A flute with no holes is not a flute, And a doughnut with no hole is a Danish.' He was a funny guy."
LOL
Miller decides to take over. Thank God it’s the preseason.
The poster formerly known as Freethefro.
the encouraging thing from this preseason
(aside from some great individual performances here and there) is that pretty much every night a different guy has stepped up and had a big game. of course we want to get consistent production out of our top 7-8 rotation players, but the fact that we’ve gotten a lot of different players to produce and won some (meaningless) games without our best player on the floor is a good sign.

I don't know if the Bulls played well
But the box score sure looks better than the previous 2. But, if Deng is your leading rebounder against the Orlando magic, there isn’t going to be a huge chance of winning.
The 2009 White Sox....like a 40 degree day.
Just sub Rose for Pargo
We’ve got a good chance
The Bulls are ranked 5th in the East in this Preseason... I think.....
meaningless fact for you.
I've got this thing and it's fucking golden!
Taj Gibson: 31 minutes
Tyrus: 26 minutes
JJ: 11 minutes
What the bloody hell. Taj in the preseason: 202 minutes played (leads the team), 41 rebounds (7.3 per 36), 4 assists (0.7 per 36). This pick is going to be a disaster.

Remember back when we got Sweetney and we played him constantly for the first couple months
It seemed like they were really trying hard to justify him as a useful player and giving him a really, really, really generous chance to be one (I say that because he generally sucked ass). Then one day Skiles seemed to just have enough of him, and he damn near never played again.
