Preseason open Game Thread: Bulls vs. Orlando Magic

Orlando Magic at Chicago Bulls, Oct 19, 2009 7:00 PM CDT

Discounting the England game, this is the first credible opponent the Bulls have faced in the preseason. So maybe it'll tell us something...but likely won't.

He is playing Nelson though.

The different isn’t as pronounced against fast guys like TJ Ford and that scrub in Boston.

nelson is fast man.

by TheMoon on Oct 19, 2009 7:25 PM CDT up reply actions

Faster than me, yes. but he isn't that fast for point guard

Kirk is playing him awesome though… don’t get me worng. I just don’t think Kirk does very well against the guys faster than him. Although who knows. Maybe a season of trying to stay in front of Rose in practice will pay divendeds.

by silentpete on Oct 19, 2009 7:29 PM CDT up reply actions

We've got to believe that Rose will significantly improve his defense

otherwise we might as well give up on the Bulls future. You can’t win with a PG that let’s opponent point guards penetrate at will.

Because that’s the only reason Pargo should be in the game. Other than it’s the preseason.

the encouraging thing from this preseason

(aside from some great individual performances here and there) is that pretty much every night a different guy has stepped up and had a big game. of course we want to get consistent production out of our top 7-8 rotation players, but the fact that we’ve gotten a lot of different players to produce and won some (meaningless) games without our best player on the floor is a good sign.

I don't know if the Bulls played well

But the box score sure looks better than the previous 2. But, if Deng is your leading rebounder against the Orlando magic, there isn’t going to be a huge chance of winning.

Taj Gibson: 31 minutes

Tyrus: 26 minutes
JJ: 11 minutes

What the bloody hell. Taj in the preseason: 202 minutes played (leads the team), 41 rebounds (7.3 per 36), 4 assists (0.7 per 36). This pick is going to be a disaster.

Remember back when we got Sweetney and we played him constantly for the first couple months

It seemed like they were really trying hard to justify him as a useful player and giving him a really, really, really generous chance to be one (I say that because he generally sucked ass). Then one day Skiles seemed to just have enough of him, and he damn near never played again.
