"Everybody keeps saying ‘making up Ben’s points,’" Thomas said. "Ben is no longer a part of this team, so they’re no longer Ben’s points. We have to do what we have to do to win. We’re not looking at as making up for Ben because Ben is gone. Ben hasn’t been here for training camp. He’s not going to be here this season."

Lets wait until we play some real competition

Instead of playing the worst teams in the league every night (save for Utah) before we start talking about not having to make up Ben’s points.

But that's his schtick!

I mean, I guess he could start liking Byars with that 7 in his name.

Gar and Paxson - - - so far so good! You get a rec!

It is the pre-season and we have not won a real game. We have played MN twice who is terrible. But …….. Gibson and JJ appear to be decent picks. We won games without Rose and Salmons and TT. TT has looked good. And …………………. we still have cap space for next summer. At this premature point ……………….. Gar and Paxson look good to me!

he forgot one prediction...

6) Eddy Curry becomes the best center in the world and he eats Shaq because the Bulls gave up on him and then he poops out this power forward who is like LaMarcus Aldridge but is even better than Aldridge, who is much better than Tyrus Thomas.

I don't know I watched the Pistons play the Mavs the other night and... man

I think the Pistons are going to suck. They don’t use Ben like the Bulls used Ben.

I've got this thing and it's fucking golden!

by SoulEater7 on Oct 17, 2009 3:13 AM CDT reply actions

Same here.

Why make a guy your highest paid player and then not play him like he is (when he has had some good success scoring 20 a game as a starter in his career).

What a waste it is to sign Gordon to that money and bench him.

They look like a team that won't pass the ball well.

They have a bunch of players with scoring mentalities and lack a real PG, as nobody on that team has any handle or vision.

Ben Gordon will be the starting PG by January.

I didn't see that whole game

But the Mavs were on fire pretty much the whole game and ran them out the building. They’ve looked good in their other games without one of their top scorers so we’ll see. I still expect them to make a trade.

by Camry on Oct 17, 2009 4:37 PM CDT up reply actions

I watched that game as well...

…the problem wasn’t that they didn’t “use Ben like the Bulls used Ben”…the problem was that they had at least 4 Bens on that team (Ben himself, Rip, Stuckey, and Bynum). Not to mention their defense sucked big time. Ben can always do his normal routine no matter how he’s used. I think it seemed like an afterthought because there were at least 3 other guys trying to do the same thing.

Tyrus has

the fire and the passion! Good on him. He’s jumped up my captains rankings. Kirk is 11th.

It should be a requirement that you be able to make a layup to be a captain.

1. Cut a hole in a box
2. Put your Kirk in that box
3. Make some team open that box

by fundamentallysound on Oct 17, 2009 3:25 PM CDT up reply actions   1 recs

It should... but I'm certain that that layup was goal-tended (vs the Celts).

Let’s face it- his nickname is Captain Kirk, so that’s why he’s the captain. It would be just be too confusing to call him Captain Kirk and then explain, “but, he’s not really a team captain…just spaceships”

by smash! on Oct 17, 2009 4:00 PM CDT up reply actions   2 recs

if there is a lay-ups made to height/jumping requirement, thomas might lag behind Kirk

At least Hinrich has an excuse: he’s short and (apparently) can’t jump anymore!

Pistons look BAD

I saw them play with Bynum at PG and Gordon at SG and Hamilton at SF against the Griz last night, either that wont work for the pistons or Rudy Gay is that good at breaking double teams.
Also, when I watched, OJ hit a few J’s in Gordons face, but, i dont have much to say on that, other than the Griz are better and the Pistons are worse
