Thomas and Miller back at practice, Rose...still not
You can read varying quotes on the same story at the following beat writers blogs:
Mike McGraw (1:49 PM) <----Winner!
John Jackson (1:50 PM)
KC Johnson (2:07 PM) <----Most quotes award!
While not practicing, at least Rose is running and on the bike, the last we heard he could not run on his sore ankle/achillies.

LOL from BDL
Seriously, I’m a huge Bulls fan and this article is horrible. Probably one of the worst pieces I’ve read on the Bulls all year. Anytime you use a quote from “Blog-a-Bulls” that should be telling, a garbage article quoting a garbage blog. I’m die hard Bulls, even through the baby bulls I stuck with it. I know my Bulls! And why don’t you trust VDN? He only guided us to the playoffs as a first year coach with a rookie point guard and no Luol Deng. Yeah, that guy has no clue what he’s doing. Yahoo, I do like your coverage, but this installment is insulting as a real fan.

LOL I'm sorry this is just... what else can you say?

I wanna say this is from 1996, kinda grunge look and the one dude has two earrings.. anyone from blogabull? Everyone was heavy into Pearl Jam and Dave Matthews was getting very popular. I think I see KC Johnson in the back before he worked for the Bulls.

Vinny is encouraging Tyrus to shoot ''open'' 15 footers.
“Tyrus needs to get the flow back offensively and defensively, pick his spots,” coach Vinny Del Negro said. "Be our shot blocker back there. Run the court. Make open 15-footers.
I really like how they used Tyrus in the first preseason game in the high screen and roll with Rose. I would really love to see more innovation in this offense instead of give it to Derrick and let him do his thing. Teams are going to double Rose like Boston did in the playoffs so it’s important to get Tyrus involved in the pick and roll. I don’t mind when tyrus shoots in the flow of the offense. It’s when he forces up jumpers that gets to me. I was crying all season for Vinny to use Tyrus and Rose in those sets together. I wanna see how they use Tyrus tonight in the offense with Kirk.

Hollinger mentioned this in his Bulls preview
Rose, to an almost comedic degree, does not throw lobs

He was hitting Noah with them with more frequency at the end of the year. The Celtics
series also jumps to mind. Noah had a couple of lobs for dunks courtesy of DRose.
I think it’s an area he has vast room for improvement in, but to a large degree, I think it was because Derrick was so risk averse (he constantly mentions keeping TOVs down as a concern) and he didn’t always trust Tyrus and to a lesser extent, Joakim to go get the lobs. It looked, to my eyes, like at the end of the year he was starting to build that trust, especially with Joakim.

He actually had way too few TOs for a rookie guard.
It’s unusual, but I’d be pleased if Derrick fouled more and turned the ball over more next year if it’s the result of more aggressiveness on both ends of the floor.
by Scotter on Oct 16, 2009 12:23 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
This is just a guess
but Derrick seems like the type of guy that really, really takes what the coaches tell him to heart. Perhaps, since he’s young, they kept pounding into his brain “Take care of the ball, take care of the ball.” and it stifled some of his creativity. It just seemed to me like he was an extremely tentative passer. Like he was afraid to make mistakes.

I've said before
that I noticed many more lob passes at the end of the year. I don’t have any statistics of course, but it was noticeable increase in his lob pass frequency.

Souleater, (sigh) I've been calling for the pick and roll since last year myself
by Mr Rhythm on Oct 16, 2009 11:59 AM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
All we did last year was run isos and high pick and rolls. We didn't have a lot of success
with the high pick and roll because Tyrus and Joakim aren’t great at setting screens (Noah is better than TT at this, but he’s still not very good) and Joakim can’t shoot and Tyrus can only shoot a little bit — not enough to make anyone scared. So teams sagged off them after the pick, which eliminated the roll part of the high PnR to a large degree. So it instead became pick and pop or a pick and Derrick blow-by to the hoop (which Derrick could do even easier without the screener’s man potentially mucking things up with a double team).

heh....
going through tyrus thomas highlights… here
Maybe this is why Thomas didn’t pass to Rose in the playoffs. He shoot FT’s as well as Rose and rose can just easily get picked off by a Center. (Okay, I’m only partially kidding.)
(oh, and Aaron Gray is still a dickhead. That reminds me of this*, too. What, exactly, has he done again, besides being born 7’2"?)
*bleurgh! had a hard time finding the video of Gray starting down Andre Miller after Rose broke Miller’s ankles… towards the end, briefly

If that happens........... I don't even know what to say. Just bad bad bad.
Thats why I don’t understand the Lindsey Hunter signing. Why would they bring him back? I have already seen more than enough Pargo, Hunter and Hinrich I hope none are on this team next season.
Whats funny is the Bulls were so guard heavy the past couple years now they look thin as hell.
Hot steamy pile of crap behind Rose and Salmons, thats what that is. Thats why I think you keep Byars. But seriously they need to address the back up point guard position.

byars is gonna get alot of burn
preseason starters are like the mozzerella sticks at applebee’s. They are the best part of your meal but you only see them at the begining of your meal before they are gone and almost forgotten. The majority of your meal consists of average food which you try to justify as delicious, while its only decent and comes in to big a morsal, and tends to make your stomache sick after you eat it despite how good it seemed to taste…
