Around SBN: Nevin Shapiro Vows To Bring Down Miami

KC Johnson buries this in the article...

Bulls coach Vinny Del Negro said Deng would have played more but he dislocated a pinkie that already has been put back in place and isn't serious.

While KC is trying to down play this story, I wonder if Luol will ever be healthy?

I noticed it when it happened

He was fouled in the act of catching a pass and it looked like jammed it. You could tell it was bothering him a bit, but he came back out after a time out and looked ok so I don’t think it was that big a deal.

It was just a flukey thing that could have happened to anyone. Much better than a snapped wrist tendon or broken leg.

To put it into perspective

if i dislocated my pinkey, even if it is a minor injury in the sports world…id be freakin out or scared to use that hand for awhile to catch or defend in the game of basketball. I hear popping bones back into place isnt exactly pleasant either.

high school football players

play through this all the time. They pop it back in during the middle of the game and go back in. Of course it depends on the person. Some guys let things bother them and some don’t. Most basketball players are playing through some kind of pain all the time. You just learn to be mentally strong enough to not let it effect your shot.

I broke my shooting hand in the first Q of a HS game and played the entire game, running the point,

…but that’s why I’m in the NBA and Luol Deng is… oh wait.

Seriously though, I hope if it was a regular season game he woulda smacked some tape on that 5th digit and got his ass back in the game. We’ll see…

hasn't kobe played the last two seasons

with a messed up pinky?
i know comparing kobe/deng is retarded, but in terms of getting out there and playing “hurt”, a comparison is more legit.
but it was a preseason game, so i don’t really care all that much.

It's not like

he did it on purpose. Those things happen and he did come back out and play.

Deng will be fine.

I dislocated my pinkie in high school just trying to catch a football. You just pop it back in place and it just feels like a jammed finger. Tape it up. It is pretty nasty when your finger looks like a Z. I still do it now and then and just squeeze my finger and it pops back in. I did it putting on my coat once. I think once you dislocate it’s never really the same.

I've got this thing and it's fucking golden!

Deng and injuries

are like ice cream and cones…just aint right without the two together. I mean you can get a cup, but thats like Deng at 70 %..and thats just a waste of money.

It's not serious

He’ll be fine. There’s nothing to worry about.
