Around SBN: The Ten Worst Swings Of The 2011 Season

WSCR's Jason Goff has a Bulls blog

Even though the first entry is a bit bland, it's already far better than the 670thescore.com Bulls blog last year written by David Schuester.

If you didn't know, Goff is a producer on my favorite show, Boers and Bernstein. He chimes in time-to-time on Bulls talk, and is a knowledgeable hardcore fan.

Oftentimes, while B&B at least like (and talk about) the NBA, which is rare in this town, their analysis gets lazy. Basically it's "LeBron is so good, there's no point in building a team without him". They're especially big in 'championship building', to the point where the Bulls actual seasons are pointless since they don't have stars to go along with Rose yet. As I said, it's just laziness at times on their part.

So it'll be interesting to see if Goff can break free from that in this blog. He does so once in a while on the show, and one Bulls opinion I know he feels strongly about is his absolute hate of  Luol Deng and his 'softness'.

FanPosts are user-created posts from the BlogABull community, and are to be treated as the opinions and views of that particular user, not that of the blogger or blog community as a whole.

Oh yes!
Heard a story about Les asking a drive thru to warm up a day old burger. Etc. All the things that should go on during a Milwaukee Bucks- Chicago Bulls pre-season tilt.

I could see him doing that Grobber.

B&B don’t always put much effort into Bulls talk I agree but I do think they know the Bulls pretty well. I almost think it’s like kinda posh not to talk NBA basketball on Chicago Sports radio at some times. Maybe it’s all the title years or bad years after that whatever I don’t know. Oh now they talk Bulls as I write this.

I've got this thing and it's fucking golden!

B and B talk more/smarter Bulls than anyone on Chicago Radio

They cant talk Bulls cause they need talk Bears during winter for ratings but they give NBA Basketball a lot of time compared to the other sports shows. It also helps that they have a former Bulls beat writer in Boers and Bernstein really knows basketball.

This week they discussed how the current make up of the Bulls starting line up…. Noah being able to pass out of high post … 2 big Guards… ( Derrick at 6 3 was considered big) could play the triangle offense. There isnt any other show that can look at the Bulls that critically with knowledge of NBA offense.

There’s a huge difference between some shows talking about Tyrus hustle or Vinnys dumb coaching moves…. to them breaking down why Deng haaaassss to learn to shoot a corner 3 to open the court for Rose to penitrate or why Vinny doesnt coach D well.

I completely agree

that topic in particular was a good one.

Which is why it’s frustrating when they eventually give up on any Bulls conversation with “what does it matter, LeBron is winning the next 7 titles” resignation.

yup

it’s one thing to acknowledge that ‘stars win titles’. But he just gets lazy.

oh god...

i remember Hampton and Holmes during the Bulls/Celtics series. Holmes was relentless making fun of Bulls fans for rooting/caring about their team in that series…and it only turned out to be possibly the most entertaining series of all time.

he should've been making fun of the audience

for listening to Hamp&Holmes.

HAH

I hate Hamp & Holmes. It’s like they know absolutely nothing about any sport.

Is there some ordinance in the city budget

That all former members of the 85 Bears must be employed in some capacity?

i wish I could have listened to that discussion about the triangle

because I think the Bulls have the personnel to run it very well. What the Bulls need most is a system to facilitate ball movement in the half court. The fact that both Noah, Tyrus and Miller all like to face up from the high post and are all excellent passers and that our wings and guards are adept cutters to the basket, it could really work for this team and take an enormous amount of pressure off Derrick.

Now we just have to get a coach smart enough to teach it.

I J-Hood still on somewhere?

He used to be pretty good when it came to the NBA. I walk to work now so I don’t really get the chance to listen to much sports talk radio anymore… it’s been years. But I used to listen to him on the ride home around 9PM circa 2002.

I believe he's back part-time on WMVP

But I think it’s saturday college football stuff.

he was always more of a football guy I guess

but he knew more about basketball than many of the other guys on radio… at least back in the day. I looked him up after I posted that and you’re right he’s on part time. He left there to work at a .com that failed and ESPN took him back…. don’t know if they’ll give him his show back.

DeFalco was pretty decent on the postgame shows

but I don’t listen to his new (old) afternoon show

Silvy is a huge Bulls fan

but I don’t feel like he really knows all that much about basketball. He’s just a super-fan who has a radio show.

he’s the most knowledgeable.

tallest midget?

really, as much as i dislike most of the sports radio guys here, it’s so much worse in other cities (and not just because i don’t care about their teams).
