I thought it was pretty sanctimonsious post
It is very pretentious to address a post to one person as if Durant should be taking pointers from Abbot. The post is going to be read mostly by readers, not Kevin Durant. It would be like yfbb writing a post to Derrick Rose telling him he needs to improve his defense. “Please don’t take this personally Derrick, you are amazing, but you need to get in a proper stance to stop penetration….” What the hell does Abbot think the coaches are telling Durant?
I think Abbot is mostly correct. But his tone annoys the hell out of me.

I think that was kind of the point.
I don’t know Henry Abbot, but he seems he concluded that Kevin Durant has read or heard about the previous article. If I had done that, I would have no problem using that information as an excuse to get to watch some Synergy Sports video with an expert and then as an inspiration to a creative article, whether Durant read it or not.
Basically, I think sportswriting can get quite stale, and I appreciated the unique conversational 1-on-1 tone. I assumed Abbot didn’t really care whether Durant actually read it, so maybe that made it easier for me to read it. But of course, I have no idea what Abbot was thinking when he decided to write it.

I think the point was to set up Durant for a David Thorpe marketing pitch
“See, Henry’s right, but just look at the wonders I’ve worked with Luol Deng and Tyrus Thomas. For a price in the low six figures, I can have you straightened out in no time!”

Well, maybe in the patrons
but I think the quality of the actual writing there is very good.
