That may end up being the better viewing option tonight....
I guess we start to find out who steps up when the offense isn’t working.

Which is actually exceptionally good, considering how the game started.
Only the one TO in the back half of the quarter, and the shooting picked up a lot just to get over .250.

We all need to deal with the fact that our Offense will be non existent some nights. Yes this is only the preseason BUT without a proven all-star that we can count on night in and out for 25+, it will happen. I think we will get better as the season goes on however!

Bulls with 56 shot attempts, 32 free throw attempts, 24 TOs – I didn’t count the and-1s, but there were a couple of them.
Milwaukee +6 offensive boards, -9 TOs. I know it has to work out somewhere, but I don’t care enough to do all the math.

Why did Noah just play 16 minutes? Did he get hurt?

Filling the roster
No Rose, no running, so why play Noah unless you need to rest the guys competing for the roster.

All in all, I'm surprised the final result wasn't uglier
Second game in a row they’ve been pretty decent from the 3 – although that’s with lots of Pargo time.

Of course I see it differently...
The Bulls Brass quit on Skiles not the opposite. I believe Skiles did what he had to do because the organization was not really trying to win a championship with allstar players but only good guys who were the bosses favorites.
Skiles moved on and kept his mouth shut, and also continued to collect a Bulls pay check. He is not the type of guy to stay in a dead in position. Yet he out street smarted Reinsdorf, the double tonque dealing suppose imagined saint. I really can’t blame him!
At least in Milwaukee he can help a team improve, Chicago under paxson has peaked and will only vascilate (between 34 to 48 wins per season) in and out of the playoffs, maybe advancing to second round at best when they are able to make playoffs!
Effectively Chicago has given up its #3 draft pick, next will be #2 Tyrus (yes he’s is the #2 because we have nothing to show for the portland trade to #4) and in two to three years, Rose will fall out of grace. Still in Tyrus case he should have been draft late first round or even in the second round or not drafted at all. Tyrus us still trying to learn how to play fundamental basketball…in the NBA, while most guys learn this in H.S.
Paxson will lose picks #3 then #2 and finally #1 draft picks probably for nothing worth noting.

The trade (loss) of the #3 pick has yet to be completed.

If Skiles hadn't quit, the team would have been unlikely to get Rose.
And this team without Rose is HORRIBLE. Makes me think he was right to quit.
I thought he quit because the expectations from management were too high.
But now I’m wondering if he quit on the Bulls because the expectations were too LOW (plus lazy players who were already quitting on him + his fat contract clause.)
It’s unlikely that Milwaukee will be a contender this year (or even to reach the playoffs) but goddamn he would be better than retarded Vinny.

I'm going to get real tired
of yelling @ Kirk…I can already tell. I’m all for developing Jo but we looked bad tonight. 2 starters out – I get it but hopefully the game plan isn’t to give it to the guy nobody guards @ the top of the key while Salmons hides in the corner…

This was a good example of a game that we needed Derrick.
Hopefully, he’ll be more assertive on offense when we struggle to score points.

I kinda disagree
I thought this was a good example of a game where we’ll lose with or without Derrick. Derrick is great, but if we plan on winning more than losing this year, we’ll need good play from other people on the team too.
For example, Salmons/Deng/Noah are all likely to be in our starting lineup on opening day. They went for a combined 5 for 20 from the field. We aren’t going to win a lot of basketball games when they are shooting 25% from the field, and that’s before you look at the 27 turnovers.
by darksmokepuncher on Oct 11, 2009 9:36 AM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
We view it from totally different sides.
I see Derrick as being most aggressive when the others struggle. If he can get going – just a little bit – it ends up opening up plays for other people. Seeing Luol try to take over is pretty painful, especially when he’s not on his game.
Anyway, it’s totally hypothetical. Hypothetical in that we’ll never know, and hypothetical in that I’m assuming that Derrick is going to be the kind of player that can selectively take over a game – not just “when he’s feeling it.” If he’s not that kind of player, I think you’re right.
Then again, if he’s not that kind of player…we gonna be baaaaaaaad.

I'm going to guess
that if you turn it over 25+ times against a Skiles team your winning percentage is less than .100.
No Rose and there is nobody to get that basketball on every board who knows what to do with it.

I agree. The NBA is a game of stars.
Derrick Rose looks to shoot more in the second half. The teams ultimate success will depend on Rose….which is the way it should be. What I like about this years team is that in some cases all they need to do is play good defense and Derrick Rose can take over the game if needed.
It appears that the Bulls team may be something like Philadelphia when Iverson was in his prime. Derrick Rose will play the role of Iverson, but only when needed. If the other players got it going I think Derrick Rose will be happy to manage it and if not then he will intervene.
This year he will grow into that role, so in that sense Ben Gordon was a crutch for Derrick because he simply could toss it to Ben and if we lost it was because Ben had an off night, but not this year. If he does it well early then he will be an all star this year as he is being marketed to fans as a star already.

One thing Skiles is good at is getting into the replacement refs
heads. That game was all whistles, just hope that crew gets better fast.

Lots of whistles, because there were a lot of violations. Don’t blame the refs when James Johnson shuffles his feet every time he gets the ball.

If it helps you didn't miss anything.
During parts I suffered through watching on someone’s crappy webcam feed it didn’t seem like any of them cared how bad they looked or that they lost. It was a very sloppy game and Rose wasn’t playing anyway. If Rose gets injured during the season you probably can expect more heartless games like this one. Not even sticking it to Skiles could get any of the guys interested as I would expect.
