Interesting big on Asik: "He did have a knee injury and wasn't able to play. But he has been around the Berto Center of late working with the team's strength coaches. The Bulls tell me they really like him and think he'll be a surprise and impressive. We can only hope."

Nice find. I had no idea he was in Chicago.

When guys like this come into town and work out, what are they allowed to do with the team? Do you think he goes to the games?

I like the Nocioni praise:

He’s been frustrated often in postgame comments. These tend to be classic signs of burnout, and I know I felt some myself in my last months at the tribune when the frustration would boil over and it was tough keeping it in. Noce is a valuable player and one in demand around the league. He and the Bulls may have run their course, though I’d hate to see him leave as in addition to his spirited play he’s one of the friendliest players on the team and always makes a point to say hello to people while many of the guys just walk on by. Plus, he’s got a wonderfully puckish sense of humor and would be missed in the locker room.bq

I agree that Nocioni is unfairly maligned a bit….while his contract is rough BECAUSE of who’s ahead of him, he’s playing out of position too often and even what’s more, he’s playing hard while his teammates are not often.

I found those questions a bit lacking as well

but let’s be honest, most fans, including the majority here, have no idea what they’re watching. They focus on where the ball is and think that’s sufficient. They have no idea what’s being run, what offense and defensive sets they’re looking at, etc.

I don't see why they kept pointing out Bens size

His defense has really improved to me (though him and rose need to start putting hands in guys faces a bit more….and really most of these games we don’t seem to have a definite gameplan…or at least a smart one)

But really the career nights were coming from the big men so it was kind of silly to me. The guy doesn’t get enough respect.

Is it set in stone that Asik can't play here next year?

I know he’s under contract with Fenebrace (sp?), but if he were in their plans, wouldn’t he be with them instead of rehabbing with us? If we can buy him out, there’s no excuse not to, especially with the Bulls being one the NBA’s most profitable teams. Unless you want to see another year-long duel of ineptitude between Noah and Gray, that is.

Might be better to have him be cheapest(1st year) in 2010

Also him rehabbing with the Bulls is probably mutually beneficial.

I asked this before, and I'm not sure I got an adequate response...

…but I would think if they waited until the 2010 summer to sign him, he wouldn’t have to be signed until after all the big-name free agents were signed. So if the bulls have any 2010 plans, and I’m definitely not certain they do, they shouldn’t sign him yet. But if they don’t, bringing him over this summer seems, at the very least, more prudent than bringing back Gooden.

Viva la nuance! Reading comprehension rules!!!
