Going all in for 2010. . . (Bulls/Rockets/Kings)
I wish making these deals work was as easy as ESPN's Trade Machine. . .
Bulls get: Tracy McGrady Salary: $20,370,437 Years Remaining: 2
Kenny Thomas Salary: $8,562,500 Years Remaining: 2
Brad Miller Salary: $11,375,000 Years Remaining: 2
Brent Barry Salary: $1,910,000 Years Remaining: 2
Shane Battier Salary: $6,448,900 Years Remaining: 3
Rockets get: Larry Hughes Salary: $12,827,676 Years Remaining: 2
Drew Gooden Salary: $7,151,183 Years Remaining: 1
Kirk Hinrich Salary: $10,000,000 Years Remaining: 4
Andres Nocioni Salary: $8,000,000 Years Remaining: 5
Kings get: Joakim Noah Salary: $2,295,480 Years Remaining: 2
Rafer Alston Salary: $4,900,000 Years Remaining: 2
Thabo Sefolosha Salary: $1,931,160 Years Remaining: 2
Focusing on the Bulls end of the deal, this trade would put our beloved Bulls on the hook for a mere $30M in a year where the cap should be between $55M-$60M. It would also force the Bulls to pay now (Lux Tax) for (POTENTIAL) future prosperity.
I realize what I've done with the deal as currently constructed. The glut in the backcourt has turned into a crater in our rotation. However, this is not the only way to go in order to fix our roster. Paying the luxury tax over these next 2 seasons is definitely worth potentially being $25M-$30M under the cap once 2010 rolls around. You guys are free to discuss, but I'd bet my girlfriend's precious kitten that this deal works our better for us than anything PAX is contemplating at the moment. . .

I must have missed it...
Can someone please link the article in which the Rockets GM stated he was looking to trade for any and all overpaid talent??

Chill with the attacks. . .
Like I stated in the post, this was just something I was throwing out there. Financially, it works out perfectly. Whether or not all teams involved would agree is another argument entirely. All I’m trying to do is illustrate that a major overhaul is possible and all counter arguments/ alternate ideas would be greatly appreciated. Constructive criticism is welcomed. I’ll be all ears for any ideas you present. . .
Who's missing the point?
If one of the three teams involved would never agree to the trade, how is it “possible”? Technically trading Nocioni and Larry Hughes to the Spurs for Tim Duncan works financially and is good for the Bulls, but it’s nonsense to spend time talking about.
And your girlfriend’s kitten is ugly.

Take a step back from your monitors. . .
. . .take a deep breath. Relax. Personal attacks are uncalled for. All I’m doing is here getting a convo started. Every player I listed above has or had a rumor attached to them this offseason up until the present point. All I did was get all the players moved in one deal, purposely skewed to give the Bulls the best end of the bargain (I’m a Bulls fan, on a Bulls-Blog, kill me). You guys can go all grade school with the insults if you want. Or you can present your own ideas however plausible they may be. . .
No offense taken. . .
. . .just trying to stay on topic. I know my proposal was off the wall, but damn, we are really in a whole & it will take something drastic to right the ship
I asked Jerry
and he said no. He said that the only way he would pay the lux tax is if he thinks it’s going to win us a Championship. Sorry I tried.
If you leave Barry on the Rockets we stay under the cap this year, I think.
Dont see the rockets trading Battier.
They could really use Kirk.
If they decide to give up on Tmac then I suppose they might look at Noc or Hughes
They do have Yao Ming, Carl Landry, Luis Scola, Ron Artest, Chuck Hayes and Tracy McGrady...
…all playing the positions Battier would. Depending on how you view it, Battier might be very valuable, but in my opinion, he’s hardly replaceable.
And of course, you simply said you don’t them trading him, which might be true.
Viva la nuance! Reading comprehension rules!!!
Houston's frontcourt issues. . .
. . .are similar to our backcourt issues: Too many bodies, Not enough minutes. With roster abnormalities like the Bulls/Rockets have, you have to have the balls to pull the trigger on a deal that can bring some sort of relief
That is assuming that the Paxdorf brain trust is willing to pay the tax
Reinsdorf will never agree to pay the luxury tax, even if it made us championship contenders. He’s a cheapskate (as proven by this track record with Pippen and the White Sox) who’d only spend the money on players that he has a liking to (see: Noc and Hinrich’s boated contract extensions).
If Pax is even capable of coming up with ways to shed contracts to make us a player in 2010, Reinsdorf will never stoop into the tax even if it meant savings in the long run.
Plus it makes it more than impossible to resign BG. Which at this time is an abomination…
