"It's frustrating, but we try hard to win games," Rose said. "The Toronto game [Friday] we didn't try that hard, but this game we went out there and played."

Injuries have affected the Bulls' ability to establish much offensive or defensive chemistry. But even with a shortened rotation lately of nine players, confusion reigns.

"Obviously, the in-game situations have been the problem," Del Negro said. "The execution just is not there."

The team didn' try that hard?

What did Derrick Rose mean by that…?

I find it very disturbing that the rookie is saying in the media that the team didn’t try hard during one of its ugly losses…even if its true, and the players were out there coasting, he should at least lie to the media, right. Its hard to root for a team that is no longer trying to compete in games.

At least he's honest.

You can not get better unless you know your faults. On the positive he may be talking about just a couple players who were coasting it and he’s taking the blame along with them. He’s just not pointing fingers and he’s taking it as a team member.

seriously

it’s practically the same as all the other excuses “we didn’t have energy” or “focus” or whatever. he’s acknowledging some better effort could have been made out of this one.

"They should. They better. I'm Vinny Del Negro!"

Earlier in the season people clamored for Rose to be more vocal in his criticisms of the team

The kid’s only 20 and he’s never had to face such embarrassment on the basketball court for a prolonged period of time. I agree with you, I don’t think Rose should voice his opinions to the media, but I do think that their struggles will fast-track his leadership status on the team.

Vinny Del Negro interviewed for the job today. I mean come on! Nobody else thinks this is nuts?

Uncanny instincts, Vinny. Way to hone in on the problem like that. If only we could get better at handling in-game situations, i.e. playing basketball during basketball games, I bet we’d be better at basketball. I would also say that our problem all year has been our inability to score more points than the opponent on a consistent basis.

(In a way, I can’t fault him for saying something this inane. I mean, how do you narrow it down further than “in-game situations”? We have really failed at almost every possible on-court situation this year.)

Voice it to the media

It’s probably been said to the guys already, I hope this rocks the boat a little and our vets step up. We’re playing like a team full of rookies and the same is we have vets on this team. Speak your mind Derrick because in a few years you might be the only one still here.
