Around SBN: Carmelo Anthony, Amar'e Stoudemire Vow To Fit In With Lin

"Chicago's correspondents get the distinct feeling Vinny Del Negro may be the NBA's eighth head coach to get vaporized. I'm hearing Bulls managing partner Jerry Reinsdorf may soon varnish GM John Paxson. Toronto ended a seven-game slide Friday with a convincing, 20-point win at Chicago."

No shot Paxson gets fired

As shitty as most of our beat writers are, almost every one believes that Pax will leave on his own terms. They’re probably not all wrong.

"One thing I do know is teams like a lot of our pieces. That's not to say they want to give us a lot of players in return, but I know they like a lot of our pieces." - John Paxson (1/21/09)

It's Unfair to Fire Paxson

When it was Reinsdorf who fumbled the coaching search.

Far as I know, he didn't force Pax to hire Del Negro

Plus, from Reinsdorf’s perspective, since he got all offended by D’Antoni, I doubt Paxson’s hearty recommendation is exactly a feather in his cap.

As if

with a better coach, we’d be anywhere near a title. As if without the luck that got us Derrick Rose, we’d have any hopes for the playoffs. Pax has been here 6 years and brought in zero star talents by his own doing, while jamming up all our cap space for the next three years. That’s plenty cause for firing.

Perhaps what he was looking for was "vaporize"

I’m not really sure what a coat of lacquer is going to do for the situation

Paxson should be fired

He had his chance to turn the team around and made his mistakes with signing Wallace, drafting on character and not breaking up the core when he had a chance to land a star. OFF WITH HIS HEAD!!!!
