Around SBN: My First Fight: Diego Sanchez

I can't find a link or quote yet.
But on my way home while listening to ESPN 1000.
They reported that did not only VDN dismiss all his criticisms by saying he doesn't really care what people say/write about him.

But he also got into a fight with Gordon. Apparently Gordon was so upset he didn't even talk to reporters.

Will post a link as soon as one is available

Wow!

Maybe that’s why our had been pretty consistent looking like an all star even if he won’t get that respect because writers and press even still call him a 6th man candidate and rank him in the top 3 6th men so far this season despite the fact that he’s played all but what 6-8 games as a starter, suddenly went from consistent, nice D (not great, but decent) and solid scoring, to doing nothing the past 4-5 games….

just heard the report

said that Vinny was seen having an “animated exchange” with Gordon after practice.

They also had VDN audio that was Marinelli-esque: I’m disappointed because we’re losing. What are we going to do, sulk about it? We have to do the work and I’m doing the work.

(something like that)

more audio is being played now...

Gave the usual ’don’t have time to worry about media, their job is to fill space’.

I thought there’d be more. Man…these goofs on 1000 do not follow the Bulls. Outside of new guy Carmen DeFalco, but he’s more the driver of the show instead of the commentator.

Though Carmen said it’s impossible to say in a half season if he’s over his head. I disagree, if you’re a rookie coach you start out as ‘in over your head’ and then you have to prove you’re not.

Again

They really don’t know what they’re talking about.

Harry watches the Bulls but doesn’t follow them at all….I think yesterday or the day before he was talking about the Bulls and I wish I could remember the particulars, but they were just saying many of the most moronic things back and forth, with Harry leading the charge….

Still I prefer them to Dan MacNeil and always like Harry’s humour (he’s the funny one)—even if he ain’t that funny..

If so, I can see why he’d be pissed off. If you’re going to fine someone for something, at least be man enough to tell them face to face. I wonder, honestly, whether things would be different if D’Antoni were the coach. Obviously not, due to the lack of personal responsibility of the players, but I still wonder….

I have a strong belief

that d’antoni and rose could not coexist. Meaning if we had gotten d’antoni, we would have remained with the 9th pick. No one else found it too much of a coinicidence that the team that ended up without 9th pick, was the knicks. Especially since it was a widely help thought throughout the league that the knicks had effectively stolen d’antoni from us.

At least the bulls have rose, so maybe for the next 3 years teh bulls suck but the future can still be bright. With d’antoni we would be stuck with this team while the knicks would turn it around with rose at the helm.

whew....You know it's getting out of hand

when Gordon is handling himself in this manner. He has always been professional, handling his yo yo ride from the bench to the starting line up and back again with grace and dignity, this is such a departure. Regardless of his backpedaling from this dust up, its very hard to believe that it isn’t a respect issue. A lack of respect from VDN to the players causing it to be reciprocated back. I get the feeling that Vinny left the fine in Gordon’s locker, catching BG by the surprise. VDN should have manned up and given it to Ben directly. That said, Gordon obviously should have waited either for the media to depart or have been behind closed doors before confronting Vinny. Mishandled all around. This should suprise no one, after all, we are Bulls fans.

Curious as to what the fine was

For not being Kirk or Noc? While I realize that rules are rules, good leaders know when to enforce them and when to bend them. Sometimes a look given can be enough. It’s amazing the poor leadership skills that are being demonstrated. VDN is losing this team fast.

by idel212 on Jan 22, 2009 6:57 PM CST reply actions

The real question is how rare is this?

It seems like this kind of stuff happens a lot with teams, the Chicago media just reports on it more. I mean it’s not a national story near as I can tell. So maybe we’re just overblowing it.
