Around SBN: Troubled Yankees Join Troubled Red Sox In Last Place

Call Gray the big, big, big fundamental. His footwork around the basket and instincts are sharp, though he is so slow that he gets behind the play and inevitably in foul trouble, which sent him out of the game.

"Aaron came in and did a good job and I probably should have played him a little more," said Del Negro. "I went with our core players. Aaron is a big guy and did a good job for us."

If he could just lose 20 lbs...

…he’d be fast enough to hang without losing any of that bigness.

I shuddered at the VND quote

“I shoulda played him more”. Puke.

Gray isn’t a starting center, at least not right now. Maybe if we actually had a friggin’ big man coach to tell him what he’s doing right/wrong, he’d improve instead of make the same mistakes repeatedly, but unless that coach will work for White Sox jerseys, that’s not going to happen.

"The Zen philosopher Basho once wrote: 'A flute with no holes is not a flute, And a doughnut with no hole is a Danish.' He was a funny guy."

i don't think he will ever be a starting center

the guy is a 2nd round pick. and hell he’s doing great for a 2nd rounder.

i don’t even mind if he gets a bunch of minutes sporadically – if it was working last night, maybe he SHOULD have gotten more minutes. in this specific instance only. i’m not encouraging more minutes for gray by any stretch of the imagination.

Meh

Gray was killing the Hawks last night. On defense he just needs to stay tall and use his height as his defensive weapon.

Flip Murray isn’t getting any kind of shot falling out of bounds over a 9’ standing reach.

12/31: Fire Vinny Del Negro.

that was a particularly awful defensive play by him

Stacy King nailed it.

I liked what Stacey mentioned on the telestrator about Gray

In transition, Gray opted to set a pick instead of setting up deep in the post like Shaq does, and Stacey was all over it. It’s the first time I’ve seen him mention something besides “swing the ball”.

There’s still things he needs to learn. But for all the shit Gray takes on this board, he keeps producing. He’s earned another season with the team.

Even if he loses more weight

Gray is just slow as a turtle. It’s not just the weight, he is as quick as he’s gonna be. I think he is a perfectly fine backup center, I don’t hate on him like a lot do around here but I don’t think he deserves more time either. 15 a game is more than enough
