Around SBN: Jeremy Lin And How The Pac-12 Missed Him

Interesting read.

For those who believe Rose is a bad defensive player - though with his athleticism he could be at the top of this list soon.

He's a rookie

And will look lost of defense for the rest of the year, he has the athleticism we know that. He just make the commitment to be a better on the ball defender, he’ll get there.

either

This just proves that stats are misleading or the east pg’s are awful on d… I think a combo of both, but weigh more heavily on misleading stats.,. D is Rose’s only real weakness. Everything else he’s either good but young or awesome at. Watch the games the only way 2 stop rose is to attack him when he’s on defense and that has slowed his O. He’s so strong and athletic that he should be a top tier defender, but aside from steals he gets fr speed and an occasional play or less frequent game, his d is the rose weakness.

His on-ball defense has improved tremendously,

to the point where, when he’s tuned in, I think he’s actually very good. Where he really needs work is on off-ball defense, particularly with regard to the screen and roll. Additionally, he’s got very good anticipation in terms of getting into the passing lane, but he’s not looking for steals all that often. With Derrick it’s a matter of maintaining the proper level of intensity, which is difficult because he plays so many minutes, in addition to bearing the brunt of the offensive load in terms of facilitation, initiation, finishing, etc.

I think he’ll be a terrific defender, in time; maybe a second all-NBA type.

i disagree completely

his on-ball D, though improving, is still pretty bad. He still gets blown-by way too often and is often times caught with his head turned or just plain not ready. He peeks on the interior too much which contributes to the issue.

I have no doubt that he’ll get better (can he get worse?) but it’s going to take time.

Chalmers just the 10th best in the East?

Why do I think that blog is run by an 8th grader…
