0-7 to OKC...Ugh...
General manager needs the ability to foretell what is going to happen tomorrow, next week, next month, and next year. And to have the ability afterwards to explain why it didn't happen.
Sir Paxdorf.
That's the first time EVER
that TT didn’t go for the pump-fake!! Good job!

Ben Gordon getting Wadeish
Anyone notice Ben Gordon has been adding those Dwyane Wade bank shots to his game recently? He’s improving a lot on those. He tried it a bit last year, but it was a lot less effective.

I hope Rose will outshine Westbrook badly tonight.

Westbrook will be a very good player.
I think competition only helps focus and exalt players, so I dont see why one should root against westbrook, generally speaking. in fact, one should respect westbrook because even when he is very sloppy, he almost always plays aggressively. Rose could maybe learn some of that frm him.
i didnt mean for that to sound too chiding with rose.
its just that he plays too passively at times.
I'm not "contra" Westbrook,I'm "pro" Rose.

Sir Paxdorf.
sure, me too.
but i want his accolades to reflect his production and not draft position/reputation/status in a big market. rose has tapered off a bit; regardless of his awards, i would just like to see him turn that around.
When we get everyone healthy...
Is there any reason the rotation shouldn’t be…
Rose/Ben/Deng/Gooden/Tyrus starting.
Hinrich/Thabo/Noah?
Any minutes given to Noce, Larry, Hunter, or Gray are completely wasted, IMO.
Without Rose we are "The Worst team in NBA".

Is it any suprise that Larry and Noce are -6 right now?
God I hate those two.
wow
We are really going to lose to the Thunder…this is incredible.
Tyrus hasn’t even attempted a shot yet. Yet Hughes has taken 12 already. Sit his ass down
3 things in the 3rd quarter I wanna see
1.I want to see the ball touch 3 people’s hands before the shot goes off
2.Derrick take over and go straight to the hoop. unless Nick Collison is such an intimidating force
3. No Larry Hughes and Rose/Thomas screen and rolls
The boxscore gives the idea that TT is playing bad
Is that true?He didn’t try a shot and has only one rebound…
Haha, Bingo.
How could TT play bad when the ball never gets near him? He’s been good on the defensive end.
Good to see Larry caught Pax's interview
Nice response. I’d love to see the rest of the team embargo him. If you go to pass and see it’s Hughes on the other end, pull it back. throw it to the Thunder if you like.

I don’t like Funk because he is a horrible announcer. He announces the game horribly. It works on the radio because you can’t see his errors, but when you actually have a visual, it’s quite clear how horrible he is.

We don't have a bread and butter

Is Ben and Derrick making a ton of difficult shots.

Russell Westbrook played dumb
Not hard. There’s a fine distinction in leading your team to victory and just making boneheaded decisions. He redeemed himself on the boards, and that is the one area Rose HAS to get better at. Westbrook already understands how to use his speed to get boards. He jacks up a shot and just races to the hoop, it’s that simple. A little guy in the paint causes commotion, Derrick needs to start doing that.

only when team trails by 6 or more with 2 minutes to play, then he takes it to the hoop. i remember during this OT when score was like 105 – 98, and i thought.. D rose is gonna drive right now cause it’s too late and the game is slipping and he can’t rely on others anymore…
and he did. I wish he would automatically do it until the team LEADS by 6 or more!
They ran the same play 8 times in the 4th quarter
Pass to Gooden, assume the Thunder are retards and will fall for his 5th grade ballhandling and let him score. When he had position 5 feet away it was nice. When he’s 20 feet away, it looks like a monkey is calling the plays.
If Rose was given rein to drive to the hoop he would have done it at one of those possessions.

my worse fear comes true
another young prospect wasting away by this shitty management
Rose is still only 20
It was probably asking too much to expect him to play as well as he did in November for the entire season. He’s obviously getting worn down, and I imagine he’s getting discouraged too, playing with such selfish teammates.

Imagine if someone had done that on a Skiles team
Not that he’s a coaching genius, but no way would he (or any other competant coach) would have tolerated that.

VDN is a total pansy.

He sent Tim Thomas home after what, 3 weeks
Vinny gets on guys for eating in the locker room, but does nothing when they play selfishly on the court. What the hell kind of sense does that make?

It's mind-boggling, really.
How can a coach who wants to be respected (apparently) put up with that kind of blatant gluttony on the court?

Amen
Imagine how he feels. He’s always been taught to be unselfish, and he’s played on winning teams his entire life. Now when he’s already getting worn down from the schedule, he has to learn how to deal with that shit.

Bad coaching
I get real irritated watching this team play. Vinny seems like he doesn’t know when to sit Rose and when to bring him in. Tyrus was doing good and he didn’t play almost the whole fourth quarter. Ben Gordon and Larry Hughes are both poison and I hope they both are traded this season, they f-ed up two plays that could of eventually won the game. Derrick Rose can’t get in a good rythm if he is not playing through the games, I know he needs his rest but choose the right times. Selfish players and bad coaching = bad team.
Did anyone see Steve Shunwald? Behind the scorers table tonight? In the middle?
He had a look of total discus on his face, slouched back with his had on this forehead.
I'd rather anyone one in the front office fire Vinny and coach themselves at least instead of having to stomach this torture
JR should make Pax coach the team for the rest of the season.
by Granny Waiters on Jan 10, 2009 10:30 PM CST up reply actions
why waste more time ... just have some "Balls" and straight out Fire the guy!
Save money cheapskate JR, replace him this summer, no hurry, let Gar H. or whoever to temporarily assume responsibility until season end.
Realistically, most know Paxson would not do well in coaching this mess, and just about anyone as his replacement could make similiar bad trades. Therefore, there’s nothing to lose by pink slipping Paxson now, and much to gain if the temporary guy is just slightly better.
man up!
I think we should keep BG but
only if there’s a clause in his contract disallowing him to dribble at all. Just stand outside, let D-Rose and TT play pick and roll and the other two rebound and get back on defense.
What happened to thabo?
WHy didnt he play tonight?? How do two people who start (aaron gray and thabo) not play in a game a few days later?

The Thunder cannot move the ball
They are terrible at everything. They just got a ton of offensive rebounds and Drew Gooden and Noah were worthless on defense.

No
Blogs aren’t all that profitable unless you blowup, like Nate Silver.
I could put it on something like blogspot or wordpress.com, and make all profits from having no costs, but I don’t like that lack of freedom. Although I don’t mind paying the money for hosting, as it is very much a hobby.
With my new advertising client, I am getting a little more ad revenue, so with a little more site growth, the site might start paying for itself, with no outside money using to keep it afloat.

… this is my last game of the season unless a major trade is pulled. Look for my tickets at a deep discount on Craigslist.

I'm ready for the organizational cleansing!
Just freaking start firing everyone from Benny the Bull to VDN to JP and then we find JR and kidnap him. We make him work at like UPS for a week and then make him watch the Bulls at night to show him what a crappy product the whole thing has become.
I'd rather have Sam Presti as GM

Trade Ben,Hughes,fire Vinny
Maybe trade Gooden too, for the right price, maybe even Noah. In return, get someone like Spencer Hawes, a first round pick and a good tall, defensive shooting guard to share minutes with Thabo. If this happens this team will be better.
Hopefully Rose wins RotY thats pretty much all I can see happening thats positive or that can happen.

As much as I like Rose and think he'll be good
I really have ODed on the hype. Really I thought he would do better with Tyrus Thomas but oh well. There is just so much bad on this team right now it makes it really hard to feel good about anything Bulls. Not saying Rose has sucked at all, I just though he and Tyrus would mesh. Yeah and that his jump shot is fairly in consistent but he’s a rookie I know. Other than that he’ll be pretty good.
by ImmanuelKant on Jan 10, 2009 11:06 PM CST up reply actions
Well Tyrus has been playing pretty good for about a month now
And unless he does what he’s supposed to do on offense (cut to the hoop, attack, set good picks), Rose can’t make him a better player. It’s a mutual relationship. Tyrus can make Rose look like a phenom if he’s turning his passes into easy dunks, and Rose can make him look awesome by finding him right at the hoop or wide open for a jumpshot.

I think one big intangible that will give this team playoff hopes for years with Rose is when his leadership ability comes into form
I think a lot of players go through this where guys might not be in it mentally in the locker room or even in games. And coaches are kind of stuck waiting to see that.
But of course in this case its just a disaster around Rose.
Definately Noc too
Point blank we need solid, not selfish players around Derrick Rose, He will make his team better. The last two years the Bulls went 0-9(I believe) starting off the year. Rose came in and changed that. Just like Lebron, Rose will make his teammates better, but he needs the right ones around him.
For the people saying Rose has been outplayed
He just needs to shoot more and be more aggressive. And he can’t do that with players like Hughes and Gordon. Tyrus just started getting it together and Rose is hitting the rookie wall, they will be fine together.
Really I know Bulls fans pay a shit ton of money but they need to stop
showing for games. It’s not fair to the people who wanna see them win!
They could sue the Bulls for false advertising for claiming to be a PROFESSIONAL team.
