Around SBN: Dana White Announces Koscheck vs. Hendricks for UFC on FOX

Rose's most glaring weakness in both the NCAA Finals and his brief stint in summer league was his inability to exploit ball screens set for him. They are not typically found in the dribble-drive motion offense that he ran for Memphis, so it's not surprising that he was easy to defend in July. Studying the options he has as a ball handler and practicing them each day should get him up to speed quickly.

If his biggest weakness is not being used to dribbling off of a

pick and roll, then the Bulls are in good shape. Knowing Rose’ work ethic, I’m sure he’ll have that down within the first month. My main concern with Rose was his outside shooting. But after watching more Memphis clips, it just looks like he had an awkward motion, but was still was capable of hitting 3 (he had 5 in one game against cincy and had a field goal percentage of over 50% percent for the NCAA tournament).

I still say that he is basing his assumptions too much off of 2 bogus summer league games. So he’s the 7th best rookie cause he doesn’t know how to pick and roll with Noah? I can’t wait for the season to start so Rose can quiet these dumb asses.

Thorpe has clarified a couple of times

that he’s not ranking the rookies on who is “best,” but on what contribution they’ll make (or once the season starts, are making) to their team. He takes into consideration the role he believes they will have on their team, how much PT they’ll get, etc. The fact that Rose may not be starting, that the Bulls have said they’ll bring him along slowly, and that he’s on a team with a bunch of guards all factor in to his ranking. Plus, he also expects him to struggle a bit with adjusting – that’s pretty reasonable, if you ask me, considering he’ll be learning to run a team rather than just focus on defending or going to a spot to shoot.

And, since Thorpe adjusts his ratings throughout the season, it’s also likely Rose will move up as he adjusts to the NBA and (presumably) gets more PT. It’s not like he’s projecting him to be only the 7th best guy from this class at the end of their careers, or even at the end of the season for that matter.

His shooting and passing

Derrick s not a good passer. He’s a classic combo guard that scores by going to the hole using his speed. “Combo” is another work for “can’t do one thing really well”. His instincts are not up to par even compared to Heinrick. His speed and size (6’3"??) are not going to making him rookie of the year. The Bulls will realized that they drafted the 10th or 12th best player in the draft.

Flagged for trolling.

When I watch NBA games I often call the fouls before the referees do. Sometimes it’s a gift. Most of the time it's troublesome. - NBA Observer

I can see the flags, thanks

and I must say I’m intrigued by this Heinrick fellow….

I didn't actually flag him.

Your sarcasm meter’s broken right now, eh :)

Don't be...

he’s probably a smart player, but I don’t get the impression that he spends enough time in the gym, so he’s not going develop into a star.

We should see

what that Jim Paxson fellow has to say about this.

Everything I post is speculation. I have no insider information nor ideas deemed concrete enough by those who are self-elected to regulate post content.

Great, then don't follow the Bulls and worship Michael Beasley on his quest to be the next Glenn Robinson

Or poster child

for what not to do when you come into the pro’s.

I mean during the actual orientation on what NOT to do, you get busted doing it?

Apparently Rose is a combo guard

because he passes really well, and then takes games over when necessary.
Man, that sucks. I hate it when my point guard can take games over – by scoring? Ewwwwww. Deron Williams and Chris Paul suck too, because they “get to the hole and score using their speed”.

He doesn't spend enough time in the gym?!?

Not that this is a very important detail, are we talking about the guy who developed knee tendinitis because he wouldn’t stay out of the gym? Coach actually had to lock Rose out of the gym! I understand that this is the off season, which is very boring for most of us, but this just doesn’t seem like a detail you should overlook.

i thought the same thing

then realized they were talking about hinrich (or heinrick, as it were).

Makes sense...

I was a little concerned about what the long off season has done to my fellow blogger.
