5 reasons the Bulls will be Better than Expected

Star-divide

With what has been written about the Bulls from various predictions you would think they were the Knicks. The Sky is not falling and the Bulls will do better than people are expecting.
Reasons

1. VDN is not Skiles-When people are making their predictions they usually think of a rookie coach as one of the negatives. It makes sense less experience is not usually a good thing except when you are following Scowls. Okay follow me here we have a lot of young players, whose development was hampered from a coach who did not allow mistakes. From his time there he quickly developed a core unit which was great but skiles couldn’t adapt to new personal. The team changed but he wasn’t able to integrate new players and he developed favorites despite the increasing talent on his team. A coaching change will add wins to this team not take them away, each player starts with a new page which will be almost like a trade. Players will be eager to please the new coach, players will buy in effort level will increase. In the end we lost a lot of games because of effort levels, players just gave up. Very un-bull like
2. Cause Derrick Rose will make a difference- usually a top pick is a plus not a minus but people think Rose will take some time to develop and this will increase the teams losses. Good point but wrong, Rose will be good this year and he will win ROY. When is the last time a Bull won ROY? Rose will be much better than expected. I believe one of the reasons the Bulls shot so poorly as has been documented is that they were a known quantity. Teams had scouted them they knew their offense and how to disrupt it. Their players were not going to surprise anybody n anymore. Rose is an unknown and quick and will give the older pgs of the east a lot of trouble. As well as chaning the chemistry of the team.
3. Drew Gooden will make people forget about Joe Smith/PJ Brown/Eddie Curry - not very hard but each of these players was an actual offensive threat in the half court. Our outside shooters make the life of inside players very easy, Gooden is an actual threat and people are discounting his contribution. When we made the trade with Clev, Gooden was the only player we wanted, we took hughes as a concession. He will average 18 and 8 which is very scary. GO ahead flame me for saying it just remember it when it happens you heard it hear first. Okay part of this comes from thonus but I still think Gooden is due for a huge year.
4. Hinrich will bounce back- not much to say I just think last year was an abberation for him and this year he will be improved. If he doesn’t then the nocioni deal looks like highway robbery on the Bulls part.
5. Hughes will be moved and Gordon will be signed to a long term deal.- I just don’t see the bulls keeping Hughes not only does he have all the makings of a malcontent but he sucks as well. He needs to get moved for anybody or anything . Pick your favorite overpaid bigman and trade for them. Either Hughes or Thabo will be traded, I see the gordon deal happening. To me Gordon-Bulls are like that couple that fights all the time in public but at the end of the night you see them making out in the closet and telling each other they love them.

And the number one reason why they will be better than expected...!

Because I am not expecting much. Not much at all really. It will be better than last year, but most things are better than last year. Like getting a root canal.

Everything I post is speculation. I have no insider information nor ideas deemed concrete enough by those who are self-elected to regulate post content.

Trying to figure out how to extend Gooden

after such a season would be a good problem to have.

From where will his minutes come?

Tyrus at pf and noah at c won’t provide minutes to get to 18 and 8.

Who starts?

Gooden's going to get minutes at C as well as PF.

Assuming the 96 minutes between the 2 positions is divided equally amongst TT, Noah, and Gooden, that’s 32 min/game for each. Knowing that Noce, Gray, and injuries could affect those minutes over the course of the season, I’d hope Gooden gets 25-30 min/game.

We have every right to dream heroic dreams. Those who say that we're in a time when there are no heroes, they just don't know where to look.

5 reasons you could be wrong

1) Skiles did get them to play defense before he stopped caring and the team tuned him out. My biggest concern with VDN is his defensive philosophy, or whether he even has one. The team right now has average to poor defenders at every position, with the possible exceptions of Sefo, TT, and Noah. The players need to buy into VDN/Del Harris’ defensive strategies or this team is going nowhere.
2) We never seem to get many easy baskets in the half-court set (48.8% eFG on close-in shots last year). I hope that’s because Kirk isn’t a creative PG who can get others easy shots off the dribble—then DRose will definitely help. Or it could be because our big guys are bad finishers, in which case he won’t.
3) Drew Gooden = Expiring Contract. The more minutes he gets, the less are there for TT and Noah. He’s gone for sure by the trading deadline.
4) Hinrich will bounce back, hopefully enough to sucker some other team into giving the Bulls something of worth for him.
5) Please god I hope you’re right about this one.

predictions based upon predictions.

too many diagonal and disconnected inferences on this post.

I don't understand the criticism

I get tthe disconnected part, I write a little too stream of conscious but I don’t uynderstand what you mean by a diagonal inference?

I am not arguing just need clarification on the criticism for my rebuttal.

You wrote...

a list of headings and then explained what they were in stead of how they would happen.

with the 3rd pick in the 2009 nba draft the Chicago Bulls select....

Demar Derozan!….. cheers……….. Deng, Derozan = Pippen, Jordan

when are we going to add a 7th championship?

by broseleay301 on Sep 2, 2008 8:15 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

Derozan is basically the mythical big SG who can score (and defend???)

Wouldn’t mind a Rose/Derozan back court in the least, that’s for sure.

When I watch NBA games I often call the fouls before the referees do. Sometimes it’s a gift. Most of the time it's troublesome. - NBA Observer
