Arenas claims Rose and Hughes would be a solid backcout.
"Larry Hughes --What teams need to realize is that Larry is a two guard. Chicago would have a good thing going if they play Larry at the two and let him play off of Derrick Rose manning the point. Larry doesn’t want to play the one. They tried to have him do that in Cleveland, and it didn’t work out. He’s a scorer, he defends, he’s a good two guard. In Philly he wasn’t a one, in Golden State he wasn’t a one and in Cleveland he wasn’t a one. Put him with Rose and you have an explosive backcourt. "

Arenas does also proclaim in that very same blog, "This is Kwame's Year"
Still, he’s got a tricked out pool so he’s cool. Sign/trade Gordon to free up time for Hughes!

"and Deng made a mistake turning down $50m!"
This is how that quote should’ve gone:
“Larry Hughes—What teams need to realize is that Larry sucks. Chicago would have a good thing going if they never play Larry at the two, or anywhere, and let him play in traffic. Larry doesn’t want to play basketball well. They tried to have him do that in Cleveland, and it didn’t work out. He’s a crappy scorer, he barely defends, he’s a good two years from a hip replacement. In Philly he wasn’t a one who didn’t suck, in Golden State he wasn’t a one who didn’t suck and in Cleveland he wasn’t a one who didn’t suck. Put him with Rose and you have an explosive case of diarrhea. “

Heh
Well, how’s about this. Would you like Larry to come back to Washington and play with you Gil? Because if the Wiz are able to do that for you, we’re certainly willing.
Etan Thomas + DeShawn Stevenson ($11.5M for both after adding in Thomas’trade kicker) for Larry Hughes ($12.8M)

NBA players know more than everyone!
I will gladly take “I can’t feel my face” DeShawn Stevenson over the no-talent assclown named Larry Hughes.

Look, if all that mattered of a player was his most recent contract year,
then Ike Austin and Jerome James would be in the Hall of Fame by now.
To confirm that he played with Gilbert during a contract year, I referred to Larry Hughes’ wikipedia page.
There, I found this hilarious tidbit that I didn’t previously know:
Larry participated in the 2000 Slam Dunk Contest in Oracle Arena (home of the Golden State Warriors) in Oakland, California. He is notable for not completing a dunk in the time limit.
Gotta love that wikipedia…

Why duck out of one civic duty when you can duck out of two?
That one hurts.

If he thinks he is so good maybe he can lobby the Wiz front office to trade for him. I propose a deal, trade of Hughes and Gordon for Caron Butler. I doubt he would lobby for that deal though.

in addition to what everyone else has said
the bulls DO realize he’s a two guard. that’s why he was starting next to hinrich.
by Jaina on Aug 6, 2008 8:21 AM CDT 0 recs
i should add
he still sucked there as much as when he was playing the point.

I endorsed the concept of Hughes and Rose
I know one thing, I’m skeptical about having Hinrich starting aside of Rose. Why, he gives up too much size and Hughes can defend and he’s prototypical in regard to size. I rather have Thabo or Hughes there. Hughes has said on a video that he would love to play with Rose because he will make his transition easier compared to last year. I know if Gordon leaves we can count on Hughes to become our Kobe, someone whom is not afraid to take the big shot.

Larry isn't afraid to take the big shot
because he never met a shot he didn’t like; it doesn’t mean we should want him to be taking that shot; he’s a TERRIBLE shooter.

they are similar in size and number of shots taken per minute, but outside of that
yeah… not so much.

I'm not afraid either!
I can shoot a mean spot up 3 from the corner.
I love the internets, where people can compare Larry Hughes to Kobe Bryant in the clutch.

Have faith
lets hope that Hughes can return to his Wizards days and play like he did when they torched us in the playoffs.

If Larry starts, it should be to showcase him.
The only value is for Larry to have a good month or so, so his value increases and some stupid GM would think he can help them.
by Fastbreak on Aug 7, 2008 10:18 AM CDT 0 recs
Larry's most valuable to us sitting on the bench until 2010 rolls around
he’s a walking lottery ticket for 2010 in the form of cap space. Hopefully we get some more cap space and can land a superstar or even a lower level star with that space. I don’t think we should be planning for that and making all of our moves based on that idea, but I do think that we should hang on to Larry until he expires and play him 10 minutes a game at the most, unless we can deal him to a team that is also clearing cap space in a deal that completely fleeces them. In my view, though, Larry’s just a ticket to a chance at a big star. It’s unlikely, but it’s his only real value.
