+1 for Ehadadi

I know its been a slow summer, and this Ben Greedy situation is getting on my last nerve (desperately  thinking of endless, non-realistic  sign-and-trade combinations) ...one fanpost: Hamed Ehadadi really did get my attention because its feasible and logical from an NBA and financial standpoint. After seeing a few minutes of this guy in the Olympics just really wowed me and I think we should really go hard after this guy since he now is cleared to play in the NBA. I know a lot of international guys can probably only light it up in the Olympics/international play, but this guys seems to have some grit I think the paint on our squad can use. The guy is averaging 16/10 on a winless squad and but it shows he can keep up with the big boys and dominate on both ends of the floor...not to mention he's a 23 year old with a conceivably a high growth curve. I think the Bulls should go all in and try and score this guy. He looks EXTREMELY comfortable in the post and looks like he'd be fine hangin there all by himself and be fed the ball and he has the size for it.....you just don't see that out of any of our current post players. Noah and Gooden look so panicked when they're the last line of defense, not to mention we won't be so porous when Tyrus decides to go off in la-la land and play out of position. He's got the height and body that can haul boards for the little ones. He'd be a great complement and add some game to the post adding to Tyrus's athleticism (I swear, that term is butchered) and to spell Noah when he gets really sloppy and lost (I might have the same concerns for this potential guy's rookie year). He's really gritty but doesn't overcompensate like Noc because he's actually BIG. I really wouldn't mind a tag-team of Ehadadi/Gooden matchup against big teams like Philly, Boston and Toronto from time to time. It's clearly time for a new era and VDN has an international pedrigree, in presumably D'Antoni's shadow with a defensive twist. He puts up numbers and looks like he can really thrive in VDN's "expected" system. I think by signing a legit big man, it really balances out our front court:

PG: Rose, Hinrich

SG: Sefolosha, Gordon (don't leave man), Hughes

SF: Deng, Nocioni

PF: Tyrus (athleticism), Gooden (silk)

C: Noah (hustle), Ehadadi (grit), Gray (blubbertime if we bring in Operation: Hack-a-Dwight)

As for the finances, I'm sure that he can sign with the Bulls for a rookie contract without having to pay a posting fee (I'm guessing...we'd only have to outbid other team) and we should have the space, especially if BG bounces or signs the QO. I don't know how much cap space we'd have left even if BG resigned, but it in the NBA if there is a will, there's a way. (Again, not really familiar with how much this is actually gonna cost and how it'll affect the cap). It's not like Paxson was gonna do anything else with the money...at the worst we'll have Darko v.2.0 for a few years (we aren't exactly contenders yet)...who's with me?

I am :)

Been watching him in the olympics and really like what I see. I’d much rather have him than see Gordon back.

I believe...

he’s already set to play for Memphis.

by Wake on Aug 22, 2008 8:27 AM CDT reply actions

I read that also

He’s headed to Memphis. I don’t want to take the time to look up a link, but I’m positive I read that 3-4 days ago.

"I don’t want to take the time to look up a link"

Though in your defense, in this case it’s because it doesn’t exist. From what I can tell (it’s called google, mr. important guy) there’s been interest from the Grizz, but no signing.

Here's a link...

He said he was gonna join Memphis just before David Stern prohibited all NBA teams from negotiating with him…

I don't know if I would give up.....

on that dream just yet…We are talking about Memphis…the 2000’s version of the Clippers of the last 30 years! I just can’t get nervous if they give an offer sheet to a free agent, let alone if David Stern opens up the league to start negotiating with this guy….I really don’t see Memphis offering more, presenting anything special,or if he gets an agent from the U.S.,I don’t think they will say"Memphis, now that’s the place to be"….lol….So,realistically,I think we have just as much chance of landing this guy as anybody…keep hope alive CS23!

by dakidfromchitown on Aug 22, 2008 12:50 PM CDT up reply actions

"we have just as much chance of landing this guy as anybody"?

Memphis probably will get him only because they made an effort. Might have been as small as a telephone call complimenting Ehadadi on his game.

Conversely, Paxson can’t make an effort, can’t call anyone or nor can he travel outside of the country until Gordon signs QO. Remember! No deals!

I don’t believe the Bulls have a equal chance!

by exult463 on Aug 22, 2008 3:04 PM CDT up reply actions

So you're assuming Jerry is paying attention to the Bulls this summer?

Remember, this is baseball season. He took a few days off to get the Deng contract done, then promptly turned back to the Sox. I don’t expect the Bulls to get anything else done this summer until after the first week of Oct. when the Sox are out of the race.

by smash! on Aug 23, 2008 10:27 AM CDT up reply actions

I also

read it on true hoop. I couldn’t find that link though…

by bosh on Aug 22, 2008 12:21 PM CDT up reply actions

Huh?

What are you calling me a liar? Like I said, it does exist and I read it a few days ago. You may not agree with my opinions, god knows I don’t agree with yours, but there’s no need to be a smartass and basicly accuse me, and others who have posted that he was heading to Memphis, as being a liar.

by ronmexibull on Aug 22, 2008 12:45 PM CDT up reply actions

I felt it was a good chance you were lying.

since I didn’t personally remember seeing it, and you were too lazy to re-find it.

The only link shown wasn’t exactly conclusive, anyway.

lying implies intent

I don’t mean that I thought you were making it all up, just overplaying the facts by saying he was positively going to sign with Memphis.

Well

I wasn’t making it up. Why would I make stuff up? And I wasn’t overplaying the facts. I said I was positive I read it, and I am positive I read it days ago. I said he was headed to Memphis because in the report I read, he himself said he was heading to Memphis.

by ronmexibull on Aug 22, 2008 5:29 PM CDT up reply actions

Hamed Ehadadi is not ready to Party...

He’s big and has a soft touch, but he’s still a project. I remember Esteban Bautista in the Pan Am’s a couple years back looked like the real deal. The big Uruguayan has yet to play a meaningful minute in a Hawks uniform.

Also, don’t forget about Omer Asik. He actually plays in the Euro League for Fenerbahce, the best team in Turkey.

by Carlitro on Aug 22, 2008 12:50 PM CDT reply actions

Even though he is not ready to party....

I still can’t see him being any worse than the big lumbering goof we already have that runs up and down the court with his shoes falling off everytime he plays more than 3 minutes…so,even if he is not ready to go to prom ,he still is no worse than the goof we took to the dance last year in Gray!

by dakidfromchitown on Aug 22, 2008 12:54 PM CDT up reply actions

Thing that really sucks about Gray is...

Marc Gasol, ACB Spanish League MVP and starting center on Spain’s national team, was taken one slot before him. Damn, talk about a blown opportunity. I’m really starting to think Pax has no clue in terms of GM skillz…

by Carlitro on Aug 22, 2008 12:58 PM CDT up reply actions

uh, wouldn't that be a more appropriate criticism

if Gasol was taken one AFTER Gray?

management sez: recommend fanposts/fanshots/comments! Click 'reply' when replying to a comment! Flag jerkfaces!

LOL...

Meaning we had no chance anyway….

by dakidfromchitown on Aug 22, 2008 1:05 PM CDT up reply actions

Not to get off the subject...

But,ever since Jerry commented on moving Ben Wallace, what Skiles said to HIM,and not Pax,and him handling contract negotiations, and him screwing up the coaching decision…I really think Jerrry has his hand up Pax’s ass and is really making all the calls and Pax is merely the puppet that he fires when he is tired of playing GM and hires someone new…but that’s just my opinion!

by dakidfromchitown on Aug 22, 2008 1:04 PM CDT up reply actions

I remember the draft analysis when the 2nd Gasol was taken...

They basically said he was big and slow, nothing like his brother. Also said he was years away from playing in the NBA.

by smash! on Aug 23, 2008 10:31 AM CDT up reply actions

that last part may have been inaccurate

but the brief bits of Marc Gasol action I’ve seen, he certainly was big and slow.

Marc Gasol has lost about 40 lbs

He was a big “tank” before his club and Spain put him on a rigid diet and good training regiment.

Marc Gasol was loafing through life. If he can maintain a healthy diet and keep training he’ll be solid NBA PF.

by NBA Observer on Aug 25, 2008 11:35 AM CDT up reply actions

He's a back-up to a back-up center at best...

He has two things going for him:

  1. - He’s big.
  1. - His last name.

Outside of that he has little chance of making an impact in the NBA.

Don't call me doughboy!

by Khalid El-Amin on Aug 25, 2008 12:00 PM CDT up reply actions

Not sure that reads 1 and 1...

Supposed to be 1 and 2.

Perhaps the formatting on the computer will only allow Marc Gasol to have one thing going for him.

Don't call me doughboy!

I think i got....

a man-crush on Marc Gasol the same size as Alec has for JJ Red….
LOL
I thought he was a beast in the Gold medal game and I appreciated the elbow he gave to Carmello…it reminded me of when Shaq first came to the league and he was like a big bully!
I will take Marc…TODAY!

FYI: See Esteban Batista

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Esteban_Batista

Batista pretty much dominated as an individual in the 2007 FIBA qualifier in Las Vegas. He was picked up by an NBA club, but didn’t make the team.

I think he plays for Maacabi Tel Aviv now.

Batista is 6’10" and solid 260lbs.

Since we are off into NYRFPT world.....

NYRFPT=Not Yet Ready For Prime Time
I figure we already spoke about…….
Estaban Batista
Aaron Gray
Marc Gasol
Omer Asik
Hamed Ehadadi
It’s only fitting that we have another NBA hopeful that has as much chance of getting 1 meaningful moment on the hardwood as any of the previously mentioned.

Ironic

Considering how the Bulls collectively are NYRFPT…we can’t be any possibly worse (you can’t possibly tell me that this guy wouldn’t be a slight improvement over Gray)…

by chicagosports23 on Aug 22, 2008 5:43 PM CDT up reply actions

I really think so

That is exactly what I meant…you pay him 710 K,and he gets in the rotation and you got yourself a steal!
Like you said…really,what’s the risk?

You normally seem like a reasonable guy

but please, there’s no need to be a jerk. And it’s spelled “Iranian.”

by MPG on Aug 23, 2008 8:04 AM CDT up reply actions

I don't really care where a guy comes from personally.....

I mean,if it was 1980 when Toni Kukoc joined the Bulls,we wouldn’t have said Croatia…..because that was just a part of the U.S.S.R.,and that country and our Country had so much tension that we made movies to uplift American morale like Rocky in order to use Russia as the evil empire…..so,to me timing is everything, and wherever a player comes from matters not,but that’s just my opinion…..This Hamed cat is not coming to run the Dept. of Defense for this country,he’s coming to sit on somebody’s bench and hope to get a lil sweat as he runs up and down the court…

by dakidfromchitown on Aug 23, 2008 10:11 AM CDT up reply actions

Illini15, who seems like a reasonable guy

whoops

by MPG on Aug 25, 2008 12:57 PM CDT up reply actions

Meaning...

We had problems with many countries, and during times of bad relations with other countries,we have never discriminated against athletes…..
(Croatia got it’s independence from Yugoslavia in 1991,not Russia, they were fighting with the Serbians)…We never had a public debate about Cuban athletes fleeing from their country and I am sure we still have bad relations with Cuba….Kazakhstan declared it’s independence in 1991 also and we have accepted several athletes in Hockey and boxing that are from the former Soviet Union…
Just my opinion,I think, there should be no prejudice against foreign athletes, especially since 70 years ago, local athletes with dark skin couldn’t even play the great american pastime…..

by dakidfromchitown on Aug 23, 2008 11:15 AM CDT up reply actions

I will take that "Iranian"(Hamed)

Or that Spaniard(Gasol)
Or that Turk(Asik)
Or that Uraguayan(Batista)
All of whom seem to be a better option than that American gray!
