Not A Heat Option
Forget about Ben Gordon as a Heat option, even as he stands at a free-agent impasse with the Bulls. For Shawn Marion? How would that make sense for a team that already has Dwyane Wade at shooting guard and made a considerable investment in James Jones as its designated shooter?
The only answer would be if Gordon could be viewed as a point guard, which he is not. -- South Florida Sun-Sentinel

As I said in the main page BG thread
I don’t think Wade/Gordon is that crazy. They can both somewhat handle the ball, and one plays inside while the other plays outside. Their defense may be a collective suck, however. Trick them into thinking that’s so important they need Hinrich instead.

Ha true
I think they would actually prefer to have Hinrich than Gordon.
But I doubt we could get Marion for any trade scenario involving Hinrich….not that that’s necessary.
Wade can handle the ball, but he seems more effective playing off the ball. The Olympics has shown the strengths of his game again — he is virtually unguardable when he is healthy. He is constantly in attack mode on the offensive side and he effortlessly knifes through the defense for points. Everyone on this site seems to harp on Wade (Injury concern, Defense), but how many players in the league can take over on offense like Wade?? He is the last player in memory to win an NBA Finals virtually by himself….against a good team.
Also – his D has been great in the Olympics….he’s definitely capable of playing defense.
A little after Wade rant – not saying some of the criticism doesn’t contain some truth. Watching him dominate in the Olympics makes some of his recent criticisms over-the-top.

D Wade is a top 5 player when healthy
so all the recent criticisms were over-the-top. It’s easy to kick a man when he’s down.
I think BG to the Heat makes sense except for the fact that D Wade has publicly stated that he’d prefer a PG and that he doesn’t like handling the ball as much as he’s had to; he wants a primary ballhandler in the backcourt with him. Otherwise, this would make sense to me. BG can guard the PGs and play SG on offense, while D Wade can be the primarily ball handler and guard 2s on defense and their offensive games seem to complement each other’s. Were the PGs Miami threw out there like J Will really any better (or worse) than having BG guard a point?

Wade looks like
a top 1 player in the olympics so far. The guy has been ridiculous again. My jaw is dropping. We’ll see what happens, but he’s better than he was in those ridiculous finals. I know not all the competition is as strong there as it is in the NBA especially in many of the guard spots, but Wade is doing everything, dominating there like he did in the finals and in college but against teams and players who have beaten us in the past. Lebron’s been crazy too, but it’s Wade who in my eyes has lead this team more than anyone else so far in rather limited minutes.

Seems like Miami is focused on Lowry
According to Real GM
Miami has talked internally about pursuing one of Memphis’ point guards (such as Kyle Lowry) but does not want Jamaal Tinsley’s Indiana contract (three years left, $21 million) and knows the Knicks reportedly will bring Stephon Marbury to camp and not cut him.

Poopsworld
Miami Is Not A Player: The Miami HEAT have no plans to get involved in a big dollar contract before training camp opens at the end of September. HEAT sources shot down the notion of Ben Gordon coming to Miami in a sign-and-trade, citing that the only way it worked for Chicago was if Shawn Marion was included, and neither the HEAT nor the Bulls seem too interested in that deal. The other issue at play is the fact that Ben Gordon is more of a two-guard, would eat into Dwyane Wade’s minutes to be effective and wouldn’t solve the play making issue – so count the HEAT out of the Ben Gordon discussion.

uhm,
who cares if BG is more of a scorer, BG and Wade backcourt would be crazy, besides Ron Harper was MJ’s point guard and he didnt even lead the league in assists. All you have to do is bring the ball in the front court, make a couple of passes, knock down open shots, when your paired with a guy D wade’s caliber. BG>Quinn or Cook or Chalmers.
when are we going to add a 7th championship?

Gray and Hinrich to Miami
If i was a heat fan, id push this to no end.
Hinrich boosts perimeter defense for the heat, has a decent shot to be a threat on the perimeter, and his short comings are completely negated by d-wade. His smarts and unselfishness should compliment marion and wade, and eventually beasley.
Gray Is a big body who can mimic shaqs usage of space in the post. He has some pretty good post moves that would make him a threat, and would be enough of a post player that marion and wade can easily attack or get freed up for shots. both are cost effective, and are healthy with no major injury problems.
The only flaw with this is, what do we take back in return, depending on that we may make room for ben gordon, but i think miami would increase thier chances on keeping wade (Hinrich, Wade, Marion, beasley, and an upgrade at the center position is a pretty nice group right there)
On Behalf of Sue, Wjb, Bullshooter, and all the other Hinrich fans...Ill keep the Hinrich Hope coming...There will be light....

I take that trade...
Not that I am a hater of Hinrich or Gray….But,to move these pieces, frees up the stranglehold on the Pg position, and allow Rose to not have to wonder when he will get the keys while wondering what is to be done with Hinrich…Personally,I think Rose will be as well off as Bg and Deng were when they got into the league,so you don’t need to have be the understudy of Hinrich for very long,I would see him being much better off with a older veteran like Mighty Mouse or somebody of that ilk that wouldn’t command that much time in order to tutor him or take very much time away from Rose……So,moving Hinrich will not break my heart, and Gray is just a formality,I don’t see him being a long term solution either…Getting a big man is still a priority,a move in the backcourt has to be done, and neither Gray or Hinrich is your long time solution with Rose…
