Check out his explanation
“I was scared I wouldn’t have a good season, so I would stay in the gym for like four hours until I got tendinitis,” he said. “Coach (John Calipari) had to tell the managers don’t let me in no more because I was tearing up my knees and I had to keep getting MRIs.

Calm down there Derrick, those knees need to be good for a longgggggggggg time.

Seriously. I think I just got sick.

It is clear

that Rose is the softest player in the NBA.

by JeffD on Jul 6, 2008 8:10 AM CDT reply actions

Nope.

According to your beasley cracked sternum post 2 days ago anyone who has any injury is “soft.” It’s tendinitis all he needs is some rest. CHILL. Is it logical to lable you ‘soft’ because you drive Steve Urkle’s car? No it’s not….. C’mon negativity is poison.

This is not good.

Knee problems at 19 is a real bad sign.

Tendinitis isn't the end of the world

Anyone who is going to be jumping as much as a NBA player can develop the condition. The coaching saff just needs to sit him down and tell him to stop pushing himself that hard after practice. His body still has to get used to the increased physicality of the NBA, so I think there are going to be some bumps and bruises along the road. Beasley cracked his sternum, it isn’t the end of the world.

I don't want to overreact but...

The key to what you just said is “as much as a[n] NBA player” and the problem is that Rose hasn’t played a single NBA game yet. This certainly isn’t a reason to abandon all hope, but as a fan who cares too much about this team, it is something warranting a bit of concern.

Simpler: Rose w/o tendinitis > Rose w/ tendinitis

I do not want to hear this.

1- Someone calm this young man down
2- This is not going to be someone we have to worry about regarding his work ethic.

Rose - Tendinitis; Beasley - Cracked sternum

Careers = over, obviously.

Let me guess the next headline: O.J. MAYO HAS THE GOUT

Interesting considering the #1 pick last year – Oden – sat out the entire year with an inury.

Apparently, they don’t make young NBA players like they used to.

We have to presume that Paxson was aware of this and conducted a thorough

medical examination of Rose’s knees.

I just hate the fact that something like this

...even if “minor,” is probably going to be lingering for a long time to come :\

And really, those quotes by Rose made me cringe. Dude needs to take a chill pill. There’s a lot riding on his bike right now and that’s certainly not what this now-optimistic fanbase wants to be hearing.

Atleast they diagnosed this early

And hopefully will come up with a training regiment that will keep his skills sharp and his body in shape. Ex – Some laps in the pool as a substitution for some of the wind sprints.

I’d say 90 percent of NBA players suffer from sort of discomfort from back/knee problems.

That's my thought as well.

I thought most players had it. You just need to find a way of working around it and avoiding flareups. Rose isn’t really unique in this problem.

Everything I post is speculation. I have no insider information nor ideas deemed concrete enough by those who are self-elected to regulate post content.

Last year...

Noah had an effed up shoulder, the team new about before drafting him. They worked with him, he rehabbed/ got treatment…and I really didn’t hear much about it after the season got under way.

I think Rose will be fine.

Step 1 - Win lottery. Step 2 - Hire a coach. Step 3 - Win.

it's not that bad

clearly it would be better if he didn’t have tendinitis, but it’s not the biggest deal in the world.

i do find those comments hilarious though. “BUST!” “his career is over!” “should have traded the pick!” “should have picked westbrook!”

If this was serious I don't think he would be playing in the summer league.

He practiced for 4 hours and his knee hurt. I have a feeling this has been overblown. It was something to write about over the 4th of July weekend.
