Luol Deng Negotiations Started 7/2--FAQ
This was an interesting read, particularly because of the little parentheticals and asides (though these guys have nothing on KC Johnson!). It's a nice little rundown, though not the intensive review of CBA/FA rules that some of you are more familiar with, I'm sure.

Found this part the most interesting:
Q. If the tender is one option, what about Deng’s other options?
A. The easy one to answer is his re-signing with the Bulls. Last year, he turned down a firm offer of $50 million over five years. It should be noted that Chicago management leaked a figure of $57.5m to local media in an attempt to make Deng look greedy but the only CONCRETE offer he had in writing was for $50m.

while it's interesting...
I find it fairly unlikely. Why would management WANT to make it look like one of their players was greedy on purpose? Deng would know the truth and if the Bulls keep leaking the higher number it only hurts them in future negotiations because now you’ve really given the player a reason to not want to stay.

it seems weird, true
or maybe their reasons were that they didn’t want to look cheap. :P more than they wanted deng to look greedy.
the only reason i find it interesting is that it goes along with the fact that gil arenas blogged about gordon telling him that deng didn’t get the offer they said.
